The human _did_ pass the barrier. Wanna know how? When Flowey loads his SAVE file, you have to walk upwards in order to reach the next SAVE point. When you walk upwards, you walk through the spot the barrier would be. When you go back to your SAVE file, you come back in the same spot, past the barrier. The reason the human didn't answer their phone is pretty simple: as mentioned earlier by Undyne, the CORE's electrical energy blocks phone signals from working. Thus, you can't answer phone calls past the CORE.

She literally is known as the royal scientist, she has a lot of experiments, Why wouldn't she be the scientist when she has the rank of one and already proved to do scientific stuff? And Papyrus doesn't know that much about the souls, on the other hand, Alphys is more informed AND already confessed she lied before and i'm pretty sure another lie would be very obvious, That's why i trust Alphys than Papyrus, Because papyrus isn't informed, and Alphys with her royal scientist position, she knows a lot more than just random skeleton in cold town wanting to be a guard.

Frisk made it pass the barrier but dropped the cell phone. The phone call was never for frisk, it was for you, to the player. Sans knows that there is someone taking control of frisk. He wish to tell you what has happened after you accomplished your task of getting to the surface. Thats also why in genocide route Chara ask you if you think you are above consequences. Chara knows that you see this world as a plaything, and that the death you cause don't matter. Chara will remind you that your not and tell you you can not change what you did as it will change your pasifist route into soulless pasifist route. That's my theory.

I have a theory that due to the DETERMINATION soul being the most powerful out of the 6 souls we see in-game, it's not hard to tell that Frisk could pass the barrier without needing a monster soul. After all, Alphys was experimenting with DETERMINATION, due to it being a powerful element with high potential of passing the barrier.

yeah its a possiblility. after all in the true pacifist ending we survive asriels super beam through sheer determination. and at that point asriel is basically god with 6 human souls and all the monster ones and had the power to break the barrier. so if we survived such an attack that means frisk can probably just push through the barrier if he tries hard enough.

That's what I was thinking, there is very little that we actually know about the different soul types, especially DETERMINATION with its timeline controlling abilities. There are many possibilities such as the determination soul possibly being able to absorb other human souls, or just the determination soul being strong enough alone to pass the barrier.

@Kl1v3r Remember, Asgore and Flowey was never aware of how powerful the DT soul was until it was put in practice. It can surpass a god's abilities, melt monsters by just using it, AND reset several timelines. If it can do all that, it can surely break down the barrier too. Asgore assumed it's an average soul while Flowey was being cocky and ignored it's potential.

@Divina Ruiz in pacifist ending chara dies by helping asriel to gain back his memories. As we see Asriel says to frisk that you are not chara in the end and also asriel get flashbacks with chara. But in post pacifist the real frisk dies as chara had control over frisks soul. So I think in your normal neutral frisk would be alive but in netral after any genocide chara is one in control.

I think Frisk didn't died. Let me explain. When you defeat omega flowey the six souls is escaped from flowey,so the souls help you cross the barrier. The barrier is still there because there is no monster soul,but you still can go through the barrier,because of the six soul. And Frisk can't answer his/her phone because the core blocks the sign.

But when you use the human souls, it breaks the barrier.. You don't need a monster soul with the human souls. In a pacifist route, Asriel uses the human souls to break the barrier. When you cross the barrier with a human soul and a monster soul, it lets you cross the barrier, but it doesn't break the barrier

I personally think that the snowman piece (if still on hand) and phone both immediately burst into dust when Frisk crossed the barrier because they do not have human souls (or because they are monster tech/parts). I also believe that a monster soul is not required to pass the barrier, and Alphys was just lying about having to kill Asgore to pass to make Frisk stay in the underground (as Mettaton says prior to the Mettaton EX fight).

@@poyopowerplant you need power to cross the barrier. i know this reply and comment is lowkey mad old, but bro, its legit explained asriel only crossed the barrier because of the human soul. the entire plot of chara's plan was to sacrifice themselves so asriel could absorb the human soul, use that power to cross the barrier and kill humanity. the new home story with the monsters got it wrong, chara didnt become ill, they sacrificed themself for the plan asriel didnt go through because he didnt want to kill humanity, hence why after true pacifist, backtracking to where you fell down even before the ruins, asriel said chara wanted asriel to fight the villagers back the whole chara sacrificing hereelf thing is proven by the VHS tapes in the true lab.

What if only HUMANS can cross the barrier? I mean, the mages that cast the spell on Mt. Ebott in the first place would've considered he possiblity of a human falling through, and it was meant for the monsters, so, Frisk could have easily crossed the barrier. For example, think that final scene in Wreck it Ralph, when Sugar Rush is being unplugged, and all the characters can escape except for Vanellope, and Ralph tries to pull her through, I think that's how the barrier works.

There IS Internet in the Underground, since Papyrus and Napstablook are apparently known on it. Also, even though you said that you can't call someone in the Core, Alphys still calls you to help you going to the room where you fight Mettaton. Why would that be possible, even though Papyrus and Undyne says, on a phone call, that you wouldn't be able to call them in the Core?

+Dick Gumshoe I think part of this is because Alphys has given you the newest model of phone available in the Underground. The previous phone you had wasn't the best, so perhaps because of that it wouldn't of worked in the Core. Since Papyrus and Undyne probably don't have nicer phones yet, they possible just warned you from their experience. As for the internet - yes there is internet - but it isn't the internet the humans have. It is contained within the Underground and only monsters have access to it. Monsters cannot access the human internet, otherwise communication would be happening with humans on a regular basis, and according to the game this isn't happening. The only access they have to technology or the human world is due to whatever floats down the river into the garbage dump. Most of what they have is from scavenging to some degree.

+Dick Gumshoe Same goes for them. Perhaps the issue wasn't entirely the barrier's fault, but more so the phones just weren't strong enough to pick up the signals. They could only voice their own personal experiences of being close to the barrier and having cellphone issues. By that point though you have your new phone, and it apparently works with certain people. Maybe the new phone model is capable of working within the realm of the barrier, but everyone who doesn't have a new phone wouldn't be able to do the same. There's also the possibility that it could purely be an inconsistency on Toby's part.

I always got the impression that humans are strong enough to pass through the barrier by themselves. Remember that the barrier was made by humans to keep monsters in. This would explain why Frisk can fall through the barrier at the start of the game. And Frisk not answering their phone is simply being outside of the underground coverage. Voicemail goes to us. The player.

Doesn't it specifically say that anything can go through the barrier but nothing can leave it? As in anything can enter the underground but nothing can leave it, and Alphys also says that even humans need to absorb a monsters soul to pass through, so the game debunks this.

Ok, ik I'm 5 years late, but I think I figured it out. When sans calls you, he just assumes you've crossed the barrier, when actually you haven't. Frisk likely just stayed in Asgores castle overnight, because when Sans calls you, he says people disappeared overnight, implying he calls you the next day. It goes to voice mail because the cores blocking the phones signal.

Chara only becomes truly evil on the genocide run, while on the pacifist route, she's actually kind.On the neutral route, Chara can be good if had depending on the players choices.

Here’s my theory: frisk crossed the barrier by himself because a neutral ending you kill some monsters and you level up right? I believe frisks soul after killing the monsters was powerful enough to pass through the barrier by himself without a monster soul

And in the Pacifist route (Not True Pacifist, I mean the neutral route you have to do before that one)? You don´t get any LOVE then. Also, you need to absorb a monster soul, no matter how powerful your Human soul may be. And the only souls you can absorb are the souls of Boss Monsters (Only Toriel and Asgore)

If Chara killed Frisk, she would just end up at her save point, right?

when the barrier breaks in the true pacifist ending the place where you exit looks exactly the same as a neutral ending

My theory: Before the options to spare and kill Flowey after his boss fight, he absorbs your soul STRAIGHT FROM YOUR BODY to use the determination and keep his memories intact between then, and you swapping to a new game/ new timeline. Flowey took your soul, so that Frisk, as a now soulless vessel, could move through the barrier.

+DarkoxRising that seems a little impossible because wouldn't that lead to a souless pacifist ending? and maybe flowey only remebers because he has a little bit of determination, it's not like we fully understand the power, personally if determination can prevent (SPOILER ALERT FOR TRUE PACIFIST) complete world reset, (k end of spoilers) then crossing the barrier isn't hard, frisk does have determination after the events of the neutral ending because u can reset, so that is my therory, A UNDERTAKE THEROY

Well Chara is basicly a god, with a attack damage with so many nines it goes off the screen, and is revived by the power of your killings, it might ascend determination, and considering Frisk might not even be determined at the end, because in genocide run, she is very much broken as a person, but I mainly think that Chara's god status kinda beats, determination, also she is the devil, she was probably blocking that option, or Frisk just sorta broke after a attack that powerful and lost all determination

What if frisk's soul was just strong enough to allow passage. I mean, they're soul is stronger than other humans souls, as they are able to save and load.

it’s the snowman piece! I think (Let me know if this is exclusive to if you got through the game without eating it or not) that the snowman IS the monster. Think about it This snowman is definitely a monster given the fact that it can talk and we have a piece of it… why Can’t we just use some of the soul that was trapped inside of the piece? I mean they never said anything about needing a full soul. why can’t we use A piece of it? (I understand that if you eat the snowman you don’t have the fragment necessary but maybe you ate that piece of the stole as well?)

*spoiler warning for my post* I think Frisk, passes through the barrier just fine. Alphys and everyone may have an explanation of what they have tested of the barrier, but a human with enough determination can just pass. Frisk had the help of A LOT of human souls, not combine, but in power. The same way the souls determination rubs of on the battle with Flowey. That barrier was set up by humans, and it can be taken down, by a human. Frisk did not take it down, Frisk just passes by it, as the player desires. As for the cellphone signal, I think the signal is not a problem. Monsters have created THEIR own internet. Why would it cross with ours in the human world? The phone signal is the same, and it got through just fine because it sticks with Frisk and his/her presence all the way through, otherwise Frisk would arrive naked to the other side :B Here's a BIGGER question that I have some doubts on. Is Frisk ANOTHER fallen human or a zombie/reincarnation of Chara? Here are my brief thoughts on that question I made: >At the beginning of the game you start with a bandage on your body. >At the end, before Asgore you can check the empty coffin of Chara (or your characters name, since you are Chara practically). >IF YOU check the coffin in the pacifist ending, after finishing your encounter with Asriel's big battle, checking the coffin reads "You never notice it before, but the end of the coffin has mummy bandages" >Again, you start the game exactly on the spot where Chara was buried. When Alphys put determination on the flower that had the dust of Asriel, Asriel was not REBORN as himself, but another being. Asriel got his body back after using the power of the six souls in the battle, but then it decomposes after the end because a monster soul can only do so much with a human soul. Yes it becomes stronger, but Asriel used his power to break the gate. As for Frisk, he/she could be a manifestation of Chara, an empty shell, which in this case, Chara (you) have an option to fill this empty shell with new ideals. Kill or not kill. or Kill or be killed.

Chara's corpse is speculated to be brought back by Toriel as she left the castle back to the ruins, to give them a proper burial. Flowey speculates about this on the genocide route, when you're in the new home.

+EmperorFranky You may be on to something with the reincarnation theory. Usually what was theorized it's that simply the moment Frisk falls into the Underground he would fall where Chara's body was buried. At that moment, the power of his determination is what somehow makes contact with Chara's presence. But for me this wouldn't make sense, the reason being Chara's soul was already taken at this point, I believe only leaving behind an empty shell/corpse. A soul is commonly portrayed as the essence of a person, a being, something that animates a living organism, etc. It was believed that a soul had the ability of further existing after death, and being able to think (probably the reason the other human souls help Frisk in the battle against Flowey). And it was also believed that as bodies die, the soul would be continually reborn in subsequent bodies. Not only do both Chara and Frisk share the same Red Soul trait of determination, in the case of being a reincarnation, Frisk could possibly have recollections of his past life. Possibly what led Frisk into the underworld in the first place. Now this is where your choices affect the following: -By choosing to go through the True Pacifist route you would be straying away from Chara's original plan of exterminating both monster and humankind alike. At the same time, keeping these recollections more in control or nonexistent. Maintaining the persona of Frisk. -By choosing the Genocide Route, Chara's preferred choice, these recollections could become stronger ("Where are all the knives?"). By the time they could possibly cause an impact on Frisk, thus perhaps creating twin personalities, a merciful side corresponding to Frisk, and a side filled with only pure resentment and/or malicious intent corresponding to Chara. With every action furthering yourself into a corresponding persona so much that at some point, one would be taking control over the other. The bandage could just as well be any other type of bandage though. It's not specified so it's hard to tell. It only says "It has already been used many times.". Probably meaning usage from before Frisk fell, on the surface.

It says during the game that with a powerful soul (papyrus says like your's) you should be able to go through the barrier. And all the monster souls equal a human soul so that is why no monster can possibly go through the barrier. Therefore, I think that Frisk is just fine and missed sans' call - people can miss calls, right? Or maybe, as you said, Frisk left their phone in the underground.

Actually through data mining you find that every monster soul equals around 6.9 human souls. A stupid myth made it so asgore went to get 7 souls even though he only needed 1.

There's one huge piece of evidence that reveals a chilling conclusion to Frisk's neutral end. When we're able to spare or kill Flowey, we can hear wind blowing. When else can we hear wind blowing? Post-Genocide. Frisk was never able to leave Flowey's World.

MY theory is that, indeed, Frisk never did make it. Not for the reason of death, though. I have come to believe that Frisk got stuck in the barrier, in a similar way to how Gaster got 'stuck' in the different timelines. Frisk, as THEY (not starting the gender fight,) had no monster soul to allow them passage through the barrier, was able to make it through the barrier (as we're told by Papyrus, it takes someone with a 'powerful soul' to cross the barrier)...to a point. What if THEIR soul wasn't powerful enough? So they made it across a bit, and then simply couldn't pass the last part, or some part of it? And, as for the phone calls you receive at the end of the game. Well. Sure, you might be thinking 'but Papyrus would give it away, or be sad, if Sans said he was talking to Frisk, right?', and yeah, he probably would... ...if he knew. Would Sans and his friends _really_ tell Papyrus, the skeleton who seems to be really quite naive and child-like, that this friendly human he was happy to call one of his only friends was _GONE, and lost forever in a 'death-like state', as I like to call it_? No, of course not. Which is why he thinks the human made it to the other side, obviously. Because Sans, of course, seems to know when the human has or hasn't died, or has been to a place or not, etc. he would probably tell everyone if the human really didn't make it, would he not? Or maybe not. Maybe only Sans knows Frisk was trapped on the way through the barrier. Or perhaps, Sans didn't even know himself. But I think if he DID know, he'd be.. 'expressing' himself, and talking about what happened after Frisk 'made it'. His friends didn't know and thought he was just filling Frisk in since they 'made it to the surface'. I should stop rambling. If you really did read this, thank you! Feel free to agree or disagree with my theory, because, well, I mean I would say 'I don't care' but I'm too sensitive. I kinda do care. But I like your opinions! Bye!

Here's another theory: the 6 human souls let Frisk through the barrier. It's honestly quite obvious if you truly think about it. Sure we don't know if they could but let's assume together they can let someone through the barrier. With that being given, Frisk makes it to the other side. The message from sans is not him calling you, he leaves a message. Frisk can't access the voice message and if someone called them, they'd probably answer since it's what Frisk does throughout the game. So that's what I think

I always imagined that Flowey and Frisk fighting was like this huge power surge and somehow Frisk crossed while it happened.

Warning: This comment doesn't really have a conclusion one way or the other. It's just some ramblings on the topic. Feel free to correct me if you find anything wrong with it though. Frisk cannot possibly still be in the Underground after the neutral ending. In the one where Undyne takes over and builds a giant army for an attack on the humans she would've noticed you. There's no place Frisk could hide. We don't know if the barrier functions like a wall or, like you propose, would kill you if you don't meet the required power to cross it. So if Frisk did try to cross it like that, them dying is definitely possible. However ... Flowey, with the 6 human souls, even though he couldn't destroy the barrier even if he wanted to, had more than enough power to *cross* it. After he takes over the game he transports you into a room that is completely black save for a single SAVE point. If he could indeed take you with him through the barrier, maybe that's what he did right here? Once you're through with the run Flowey appears, in what is otherwise complete black space, and tells you what you have to do to get a better ending. It could be that Frisk is still stuck there, and although the room you end up in after defeating Omega Flowey looks identical to the room you fight Asgore in, perhaps it's located outside the barrier? So, even though this is all really jumbled and messy, what I think I'm getting at is that Flowey trapped Frisk in some side room that's a copy of the Asgore room OUTSIDE the barrier, but with no way out. So the only thing they can do is reset. Which is exactly what Flowey wants you to do and encourages you to do when he pops up. Because the thing is, if Frisk DID die during the crossing of the barrier, the monsters would've found their SOUL there. Human SOULs don't perish no matter how much time passes. It would just be floating there in front of the barrier up for grabs, right? This stuff is confusing man.

+Metaknightkirby2 All of this is really confusing, but I think you got a point there. Flowey WAS sick of the Underground, as he states multiple times, so maybe with his powers he kinda jumped out of the barrier before trying to kill you. Maybe he even made a save point "almost in the surface world" just for that: To be able to go back, kill you, and go to the outside world and do whatever he wanted. Once he got sick of it, he could go back and kill you again maybe.

+Metaknightkirby2 The only issue I have with this is that Flowey would have had to approach Frisk soon after they crossed the barrier. If Frisk was going to reset, they probably would have done so within a few days of being trapped, or perhaps sooner. So that means the phone call from Sans had to have happened before the reset, because if the game was reset, they wouldn't exist to make the call at that moment. So a great deal of time still had to pass before Frisk pushed the reset button, otherwise the ending wouldn't make sense with how time is affected by resets. Just a tad bit of a counter argument for this, although that is an interesting take on this whole ordeal. Even though Flowey was feeling bad, he still couldn't be trusted and we don't know what happened after everything goes black since we go back to the title screen. Regardless, we either save or reload, and when we typically reload it is because we made a mistake or we died... So it is something to ponder about.

Shadow_Boxer There's a theory going around that Flowey actually isn't unable to feel emotions, he just retains the emotions he last felt before becoming soulless. In his current form those are fear and regret. This only becomes apparent at the end of the Genocide run however. After all, what would be able to scare him if he's basically immortal? That's right. His best friend killing him without any regrets. That's why starts to shiver in fear right at the end. Now, thanks to Frisk at the end of the true pacifist run he was able to forgive himself and he got his compassion as well as his love back before turning soulless again. Then, even though he's Flowey again, he urges you not to reset. Sounds like someone who still has an awful lot of compassion and love doesn't it?

Question: How the hell does sans,papyrus,or etc. know when frisk is on his phone? He never speaks on his phone or throughout the game.

Frisk is androgynous. Toby Fox stated this, so everyone has their own headcanon on it.

I just always thought it would be the door from the beginning where you met Flowey... So you never left and just be set back, because well Flowey pretty much destroyed or changed the Underground while your fight... so yeah also Frisk is as alive as in the rest of the game (you walk the last steps) so yeah...

This is a well crafted theory, liked and subscribed.

Actually, a human and a monster soul is the MINIMUM level of power needed to cross the barrier. Flowey probably deposited you on the other side of the barrier. They also don't state that it blocks phone signals, it could just block internet.

Flowey has no soul, so he can absorb both human and monster souls,as proven in the true pacifist ending. 6 souls is enough to pass the barrier, but not to break it.

I just think that the phone either broke/ was left behind, and here is why. Flowey can't get past the barrier because he has no soul. Technically a cell phone does not have a soul as well, making it impossible to pass through the barrier. But that does not exactly explain what happened to Frisk, sorry I can't help more

But I do very well believe that if Frisk did die they would have found out at some point. Maybe Sans is only calling to pay condolences to an old friend who died..?

i personally dont know what happens... but i know from what the story provides it cant ne chara because asriel absorbed her/his soul and was turned into flowey afterwards. by doing a pacifist run you empower the asriel side of flowey by having him take every single soul. but on the genocide run you murder everyone and perhaps that pleases the chara side of flowey and when you even murder your supposedly best friend flowey. she awakens because she takes that as a challenge so by killing everyone you practically seal your own fate. well hopefully that got one possibility out of the way.

+SwankyBox Here's a thought - In the Genocide run, it's basically established that Chara is no longer human. Their actions have made them into more of a monster. It's also established that Chara's soul has been hanging out in Frisk's body. So maybe - just maybe, Frisk's human soul combined with Chara's inhuman soul is enough to cross the barrier?

I always assumed they got stuck somewhere inside the barrier.

I think that if Frisk died going through the barrier it would be because of the 6 souls (including theirs) were destroyed, opening the barrier but killing all of the souls, which would also kill Frisk because they are the 7th soul.

I have a theory. Some people agree that frisks soul is connected to charas. I think that asriels soul is still mixed with charas and that's how frisk crossed the barrier!

Seriously? Passing the barrier was kinda obvious, in almost every main boss fight your heart is changed from its colour (Papyrus Blue, Mettaton Yellow Etc.) Showing that with the power from other monsters Frisks Soul has the power to morph... Yeah that's my theory anyways

I find it highly unlikely Chara killed Frisk in the neutral ending. It seems Chara only have the power to act or do anything, if Frisk gives into their darker side and starts slaying. If they dont sadistically exterminate everyone, Chara doesnt even show up. Chara without Frisk committing atrocities, is just a pissed off ghost, whispering in your ear.

Yea, but the level of influence Chara has, in a pacifist or even neutral run, is limited. Its not until you start the genocide run, that idea of Chara, the malevolent spirit, even exists. (And the tone of the game flips itself on its head.) While Im sure he is the one who gave Frisk the power to SAVE and LOAD, since before him, Flowey had it for unexplained reasons, likely because Chara granted him the power, without Frisk using it to commit acts of cruelty and evil, Chara remains dormant. To me, its clear Chara's strategy of claiming Frisk soul, only works, if Frisk lets Chara in by committing acts of cruelty. BUT in a Pacifist run, Frisk doesnt, and even takes her/his own name, shedding the confusion that the player is Chara, and ultimately rendering Chara powerless.

As being someone who's experienced this, it gives me an idea. Sometimes, when people disappear or die, people will call/text that person. It gives them a sense of closure. Think about it, Frisk played a huge part in their lives, and then was gone within just a short period of time. There's bound to be some feeling of loss and sadness, knowing that these monsters lives were in their hands. Yet, Frisk chose to let them live. It's a very normal thing to feel like there's something missing, especially when someone who was big in your life suddenly disappears. What if they're all doing it as a way to cope, (knowing that since they aren't allowed to kill anymore humans IE getting through the barrier) due to the fact that they know they won't ever see Frisk again?

I have a few theories. 1: Frisk and Flowey fought in a parallel universe created by Flowey. Once Frisk defeated Flowey, Frisk used the 6 humans souls and their own soul to break the barrier, but using their soul killed them. So they couldn't respond to sans's call. 2: Once Frisk defeated Flowey, Frisk's and the rest of the soul of Chara merged into a single soul and they could go through the barrier.

Your right when I did that I got into a battle in undertale at the end the battle was Chara.

its because flowey absorbed the soul of 6 humans souls and then created a battle area in the barrier, so then frisk after defeat flowey a lil ratch in the barrier thats allowed him to made it out and about the phone call the ratch was still there when Sans call him so then he talked with frisk for a short time.

I believe Frisk is crossed barrier in neutral ending because he can go back to snowdin or any other place where monsters are and then he would just need to kill an monster (this can only happen if Frisk is spared at least 1 monster)

My theory is that when you try to cross the barrier without the requirements, you end in another universe, so when Frisk tried to cross the Barrier, he was sent to another universe, presumably Deltarune, taking the name of Kris. For me, this has more sense than the Barrier working more like an indestructible wall, because the effects that we see remind of a corridor more than a wall

You need at LEAST one human soul and a monster soul. It's stated a human soul's power is as great as the combined power of every monster, pretty much, which is how Asriel breaks the barrier. During the fight with Flowey, the other 6 human souls show up to assist you. I'd say that those 6 souls enabled Frisk to escape somehow. Frisk didn't absorb them or anything. They just joined forces together to let Frisk through. At least that's my theory.

Ah.

Flowey blast broke the barrier temporarily because the magic was strong enough to close again so frisk quickly ran to the surface and dropped the phone in the underground while doing it

wait when we didnt kill anyone flowey talks to us at the end of neutral ending how can he talk to us if we are in surface and how can he talk to us if we are dead i think frisk didnt pass the barrier he stayed in the underground

I can debunk the Chara theory of how Chara kills frisk, Chara is a secret character you are able to meet if you kill everyone on a genocide route, and Chara claims that they were revived on a genocide route, which is proved when you never see Chara in the other 2 routes.

Well, alphys may have just been misinformed about the soul requirements. The only time monsters saw passage through the barrier was with asriel, but it coulda just been chara's sould itself to allow passage Secondly, flowey coulda teleported you past the barrier. After you beat him you're in the room before the exit, which is past the barrier room

@@Agueybana1978 I think Flowey teleports you the past the barrier with himself because he was planning on attacking the Human world (easy way to get another soul after all) with Frisk as the first kill. But Frisk defeats them and is now free, so Flowey's plan totally backfired.

My theory is that only monsters are affected by barrier, meaning the barrier prevents the monster from going in or out but doesn't prevent from human going in or out. Well since humans were the ones who created the barrier in the first place...

I think you don't cross the barrier. It could be that during the fight with flowey, you fast forward a few days in time. Then after you go through the tunnel into the next, sans emediately calls you. Or frisk stays in the menu of the game. In the menu the gate is also there. This also explains why frisk cannot awnser the phone. I think this is the case.
