The wording of the tweet that announced this newsletter suggests he was still working on it at the time, at least to some degree. Toby specified that this was a “mini” newsletter, so maybe this is just an exception for the smaller newsletter? If not, he probably meant that he finished writing it a while ago, but was working on actually creating the newsletter itself at the time of the tweet.

I would point out, saying “quite far” is Toby Managing expectations. It’s not about when he actually thinks it will be released, it’s about keeping the fan base from getting any particular date and going feral if the game isn’t on that date. More feral than usual anyway. If I were in Toby’s shoes, I think I’d be coy with the release dates too.

Also if people think every chapter individually is going to take 3 years the game would be 21 years old by the time it's done which seems a little bit ridiculous especially with toby hiring a new producer and new people to speed up the process

So much Guilty content this week Deltarune Chapter 4 development meeting internal deadlines with enough wiggle room to work on Chapter 5. Chapters 3 and 4 is totally dropping within a year's span

17:56 - Blue is Integrity, actually! So the flowers in this line-up would be: Perseverance, Patience, Bravery, Integrity, and the Flowey would represent Determination I assume? I personally don't think it has meaning though, due to the fact that this line-up just makes the most sense design-wise. Yellow flower would clash with Flowey. Green has always been a stretch for the sake of symbolism, since in reality there aren't any green flowers. If he had to pick four for the sake of the gifs taking up the amount of space he likes, these four are the most likely choices. So... yeah.

Green flowers do exist in nature actually, but I agree it wouldn't be as aesthetically pleasing. I guess the bigger question is why stop at 4 when the sprites already exist for the others? All the Papyrus animations are totally recyclable after all. I understand it's probably nothing, but that's my argument for latching onto it lol.

on the subject of the flowers in the newsletter... It *could* mean something. It could also be justified with "these are the ones that looked nice." The yellow flower... would probably look too similar to flowey. Even in Asgore's shop where the yellow and gold flowers are next to each other they look very similar. The green flower is interesting to think about though, but it would still be the one I'd probably cut next to make the gif/sprites the size I'd want. But even then... it is fun to speculate on whether there is something hidden here. The lineup of the flowers not changing is probably because its the same flowers from 2 angles of view.

also toby said that some of the team will be moved to CH5 development when CH4 is slightly more done. Which means that altough the current speed is high, it will get decrease the more of it is done

It's nice that they have a manager. I just hope it won't be rushed and half finished, but knowing toby I have high hopes

btw, first newsletter which actively talks about CH4, and only in it: asgore, flowey's heavy involvment and papyaysxd altough, those 7 flowers are the only real flowers in the game, flowey is a talking flower, asgore takes care of plants. And spring is also portrayed as flower season, where everything grows. And each newsletter is themed around it's season. So, this COULD just be a coincidence

Oh, if the CH4 dark world will be flower shop, and if we pretend CH3 was off narrative one and wasn't supposed to happen, then Seam saying that next secret boss will be unbeatable could mean that in ch3, we're supposed to like, beat up the flower's in trash to get some protection thingy, and then go with it to ch4's boss, where there are a lot of strong flowers.

That does make some sense, though the shadow mantle protects from elec/holy according to the files, so that means CH4's boss would probably be themed around that somehow..?

The stupidest thing in the gaming industry is the same things that are stupid across the entire tech industry.

Next year at best. They did chapter 3 in like what 2 -3 years and its supose to be light on the plot. Year is hopeful

Chapter 3 was very complicated to develop due to a lot of gimmicks and sections, it is an unconventional chapter. Chapter 4 is supposef to be a lot more traditional though, so development on it should be much faster. Especially with the additional team and manager. They seem to be progressing well, meeting deadlines (and maybe even being a little bit faster than them if they’re able to work on some chapter 5 stuff). And while Chapter 3 was the main focus of development until it finished, Chapter 4 was also being worked on to an amount, so Chapter 4 started with an amount of work already completed, which wasn't as much the case for Chapter 3 It really does seem to me that chapters 3 and 4 will release within a year. I don’t know if I'd say 2024 for certain, but I do think it will be before this time next year assuming things continue going well

naah that's overthinking it way too much XD I still believe the puzzle rooms are nothing other than berdly never being able to guess that you can put items on top of another

I feel like Papyrus is weirdly the focus of most of the Newsletters? Like Papyrus is my favourite character so Im not complaining at all but its weird that he gets all the attention meanwhile Im pretty sure this is the first time Asgore has shown up. (Correct me if Im wrong)

if a chapter has more or less 30 rooms, then there is still 1/3 of the work to be done lol

To put it into perspective a bit, Castle Town on its own has more than 10 rooms in CH2. Again, it depends on the size of them but 10 is no doubt far less than a third of a chapter.

The newsletter says they just hired more people, they all get along, and the development process is on fire. How you you understand that to be development hell? Do you think Toby is lying?

I cannot be optimistic anymore. Since the beginning of deltarune chapter 1 to now. I no longer trust toby fox being reliable. He makes great ganes but it takes a long time to make it. Too long. I might just give up on this series until its legit done. Like 10 years from now.

I doubt it would be finished in 10 years. I bet it would be finished by 2026 at the latest. But I'd rather a project take its time being finished as opposed to them dropping all the chapters and their half baked and unfinished. Like this was the whole issue with the latest game in fnaf.
