I was so inspired by this, that I spent all my savings to go to Tokyo (from the U.K.) on my own this month to see Kota Kawai (the lead violin who put this Undertale concert together) in person. He was performing the game Ihatovo Monogatari. The staff told him someone has come from the U.K. to see him and he came out to talk to me after the performance (I had a translator). I handmade him a little Toby Fox dog and he seemed very grateful for my gift. He was really nice and I felt like I was in the presence of someone truly special. ❤️

Two years ago, when this concert was streamed for the first time, I was in a terribly awful situation. I was trapped in a very toxic home and genuinely couldn't see myself surviving even one more year. But I remember this concert comforting me so much back then, it was a rare highlight of usually very dark days. Two years later, I'm free and safe. I survived and I wanted to come back here to say it and to thank Toby, Undertale and this concert for being a few of the things that helped me survive in their own ways. In spite of everything, I'm here. In spite of everything, it's still me. ❤

I have to say, I am *shocked* at how excellently they translated Your Best Nightmare to this format. Like, that song does not SOUND like it'd sound amazing played by an orchestra, much less possible, so it's so impressive that it even *works.*

@@strangeandinteresting the rite of spring is infamous for being really chaotic and sometimes very horrifying piece of music. (I would however suggest there's a lot of beautiful moments in it) it is also riddled with time signature changes and is very unpredictable. It's also a very influential piece of 20th century music. If you'd like to check it out, the full 30 minute piece is available on youtube. I'd say your best nightmare has a much more predictable structure than rite of spring so not much similarity there, however all I wanted to mention in a joking manner was that orchestras are capable of a lot of things.

Most geniuses aren’t recognized until after they’ve died. Toby is a modern day genius. HE WROTE FOR AN ORCHESTRA WITHOUT ANY TRAINING. The instrumentation is that of a savant.

revisiting this concert after almost 4 years, and it still utterly rends me just as much as it did during the quarantine. there's nothing quite like hearing your favorite game soundtrack remastered in such an incredible way. biggest thanks to all the musicians that came together to create this masterpiece, and of course, toby fox himself.

This rendition of Waterfall is one of the most beautiful versions of a song I've ever heard in my entire life. It felt so eerie and yet so beautifully calming, it's perfection

It's 2024 yall! I'm writing this comment on January 26th. This year will be Undertale's 9th anniversary. Chapters 1 and 2 of Deltarune are out, with chapter 3 (and possibly chapter 4) expected to release this October. Can you believe it? Almost 9 years? I cried when I listened to this concert the first time. I've always been very moved by orchestral music, and it was a whole new level to hear music that means so much to me in this form. . . . I was 12 years old when Undertale came out. My mental health was the worst it's ever been and I didn't see myself making it to 16. Undertale didn't give me a reason to live. But it was like a save point. A little spark of light that only I could see , that helped me find things to fill me with Determination. I decided to be like Frisk, and live simply because I wanted to and because I refused to do anything else. I decided I had things to do was going to stick around to do them. I'm 21 now, a college sophomore studying forestry and mycology. I have a partner I love to Pluto and back, close friends and a community I can rely on. I'm doing the things I wanted to do and every day I find more. So thanks to Toby for making (and continuing to make) this game, and for composing such gorgeous tracks, and thanks to MUSIC engine orchestra for their beautiful performance, and thanks to the fans of these games for just being there.

Plot-twist, the dog was conducting. It's Toby Fox in his truest form.

to those who are wondering: yes, a real live symphony concert is even more amazing than this i didn’t expect to even get close to the same amount of emotion watching “heartache” be played in a youtube video as i did experiencing rhapsody in blue at a symphony, so the fact that i did is astounding. great job to everyone involved in this video

The last time I saw this video when this video was 1 week old, And it doesn't feel like this video is already 3 years old When I saw this video again 😊

Even though I only started playing it about a month ago, Undertale has already become one of if not my most favorite game of all time. The story, characters, humor, element of choice, and pretty much everything else about he game is just amazing. I can't wait to see what Deltarune has in store.

Imagine how it feels for Toby Fox, who made a small indie game for fun, only to escalate to a whole ass concert.

@@GabrielShitposting Some are great, but I find most drag on for too long. And many, while being very technically advanced, don't seem to have any catchy hooks. I appreciate that modern VGM like Undertale's bring out the best from classical and modern sounds, while also having a tight, focused production.

Nope, probably unique experience

This game gave me three things: Determination, a character I resemble a lot in real life and memes. This is one of the games that I played for a while and enjoyed myself the most in. The genius ideas behind every character, design and unique desicions to make each reset completely different from the last. This is what makes me keep my faith that gaming will only get better with time.

Guys I'll be honest I did not listen to every track, and the core was the first one I actually noticed the electric instrument. I don't think I would even be able to tell the electric piano apart from the electric guitar. Literally only made this comment for funnies

i would genuinely kill to see this live if i can get so emotional over a recorded performance i don’t know how i’d react listening to it live

This concert is actually a big part of what got me into the game. I am and have always been a huge orchestra/band/music nerd and this (along with the og soundtrack) sent me into (positive) stimming fits. Toby's music and arrangements are so powerful, it's actually insane.
