@Covid Recovery Initiative ... I had a resting rate of between 55 and 60 bpm prior to being hospitalised in April 2020, and since then (over 4 years), my resting rate is now between 85 and 104. My SATS also haven't improved with lows in the mid 80s and highs of 91 - 94. After 4 yrs of fighting to be heard, I'm fed up with all of this being played down.

Five weeks out from eleven days in hospital my resting heart rate is up at least 10 BPM with pain at the base of my sternum, although I'm 68 it's not the norm for me it's usually 65 BPM and now it's 75/80. I thought I had recovered as I'm active and feel fine; now I'm not so sure.!

I am 10 days out from covid and actually have a lower heart rate than before covid. Resting is around 55 and when I stand up, it goes up to 90s.

I’m 32, I caught covid this past February. I woke up feeling very weird and light headed with a racing heart. I have an Apple Watch and it detected a heart rate of 145 then out of nowhere my body went almost cold and it dropped to 24. This was the beginning to my on going nightmare. Till this day my heart rate is elevated, even by just bending down to pick something up or just walking around my house even sometimes laying down. Highest it has gone was 186. I have been to the ER 4 times because I felt like I was going to die and very lightheaded. Each time ecg was done and it was ok along with blood work. I went to a cardiologist had a echo done along with. Monitor for 2 weeks and they said echo was good and monitor showed pvc but only 5 times within the two weeks which is normal. What’s frustrating is no answer to why my heart rate is elevated all day. It’s stressful, I no longer can live a normal life, I can’t do much because it increases and I feel not well. It has caused me anxiety and I’m just not in control anymore of my well being. I’m not sure what to do??? Is this ever going to go away

We are very sorry to hear that is what you're going through and not having all of the answers. It sounds like you need a referral to a Cardiologist who specialises in Dysautonomia to better help you connect the dots behind your symptoms. It may also be best to speak with your GP as to whether it may be appropriate to trial some POTS management strategies such as water, electrolytes, compression and pacing etc as they may be helpful for you. We can't give advice on YT, however do feel free to get in touch with the clinic to potentially engage in our Covid Recovery Initiative Online Program, or our 1:1 sessions. We hope you get the support you need.

I was hoping you could also speak to what happens when your heart beats lowers from covid. I have covid currently. It's been a week to date of onset of symptoms. I wear a Fitbit. The first night I noticed my resting heart rate was 38, usually 42ish. Not much of a drop, but it has stayed this way at rest and even when I get up and walk around to make it come up. It eventually does come up with movement, but not right away. I have seen it as low as 36. Day 5 I got on Steroids and Paxloid because of serious throat swelling. Just wondering if i should be worried about the lowered resting heart rate or if this too can be a normal side effect of Covid?

Yes please following for a response! I also have had this happen. My heart rate has continued to lower. It’s now 48-57 It use to be 65-70 and dropped to 59-61 now it’s lowering to 48-57 really scary but it’s nice to see I’m not the only one… It will also go up really fast when I go from sitting to standing. It’ll shoot up from the 50’s to 115-120 and slowly lower to 90s. Excersise will cause me to feel so much worse and my heart has a hard time coming down from it unless I lay down flat then in seconds it shoots down causing me to feel super dizzy.

My heart rate has gone back to normal. I did reach out to my doctor that also told me to monitor it. They said if it didn't come back to normal they would want to have me in for some tests. Again, it has came back up on it's own. Now around 45 regularly.

I wouldn’t think that’s too bad. I’m in COVID respiratory failure recovery now and been out of the hospital for 5 weeks. My heart rate went from 70 to 80 resting to now it 120 to 130 and people are telling me it’s normal. Even the paramedics tell me this but I have an appointment with my heart doctor next week just in case. God be with us friend. Just sharing what I’m going through.
