Understanding Turboprop Engines: Thrust Generation and Comparison with Turbofan Engines!

Hi. In this video we will be looking at the construction and working of a Turbofan Engine. We look at the principle of thrust creation on a Turbofan engine and in a Turboprop engine on the basis of Newton's Second Law.
We also look at the major sections of a Turbo Prop engine - the Engine Core and the Propeller. Then we see how the Thrust is created on this engine with the propeller and the exhaust gases.
We also compare the turbo prop with a turbo fan and see why turbo prop engines are most suited for Smaller, Short Range aircraft.

    As you said that 80 % of the total thrust is provided by propeller, what % of thrust a fan contributes in a turbofan engine?

    Now engine companies are making ultra large turbofans ,with more volume of bypass duct, where the fan rpm is reduced ,but generating more thrust, So how it is different from a turboprop ,with a large diameter propeller generating most of the thrust by spinning at less rpm ?

  • @JxJAVIATION

    @JxJAVIATION

    3 жыл бұрын

    A turbo prop is more efficient when flying at lower altitudes and turbo fans engines, even if the have a larger fan, are efficient at higher altitudes. The concept of producing thrust is different where a large quantity of air is accelerated in turboprops but turbo fan takes lesser quantity of air and accelerates it to a higher value.
