    I agree. We should do this for all game fish during the spawn. Immediate catch and release only during the spawn! I hate tournaments taking place during the spawn as well.

    Mike Reynolds but nothing will be done. Unfortunately. Ppl/corporate will still continue to sell their products by means of a tourney, thats all it is. 💴 And because there is $ involved ppl will still pull fish off beds, transport them miles away bouncing them around in their boxes to try to cash in. Its stupid.

    Awesome. Up here in Nova Scotia...we are blessed with great smallmouth fishing. Especially topwater. And nobody keeps them. We eat fish from the ocean. Haddock...Cod...Smelts and of course lots and lots of lobsters. Leave the Brook Trout and Bass to grow.

    What about continous flooding in a river system during small mouth spawn? 2nd year in a row my local river floods, mud for days on end. The system starts to clear and flooding again.. River hasn't been normal pool in years.

    Here in Canada season starts 4th Saturday in June, that's after the spawn. Vital. The research shows that catch and release during the spawn results in adult bass not returning to the nest, becoming delinquent parents. Much higher fry mortality. Then their surviving offspring follow the same pattern.

    When you explain the impact of invasive species and climate change, you are explaining evolution, as evolution itself is just change over time. If you look at how fishing has evolved over the last 500 years you see just how much has advanced over a small time scale. This is exactly how evolution works, things change over time. Over hundreds of millions of years the small changes that occur generation after generation all add up to significant changes. It is not easy to fathom things on a time scale much larger than our own life span. People in 2019 will not stone to death unruly children or gay people even though the 'good book' explicitly tells us to do that. Churches all over the country are also changing over time to ensure their survival. Even religion is subject to evolution

    I would say invasive species and climate change being propogated by humans at a much higher rate than nature could can have devastating extintction level effect on ecosystems and animals as they dont have enough TIME to properly evolve and adapt to those rapidly changing conditions. Its an anomoly when native species actually benefit from these changes and is worth noting.

    I find it depends on water clarity more than anything. In very clear water natural colours seem to work the best. When the water is murky I don't think it is so much the specific colour that matters but rather the contrast

    When he says it is easier to believe the bible he pretty much sums up his position. It is easier to believe you were made in the image of a god than it is to ponder the process of evolution or abiogenesis. It is also easier to smoke pot living in your parents basement on welfare than it is to go to work every day. When someone says they believe something based on avoiding thinking and taking the easy out, you know their position has no credibility whatsoever

    Ingorance? Darwin himself questioned his conclusions before he died. Where does that leave Darwin's followers?

  • @ansmerek

    @@richardpichola891 And mother Theresa questioned religion before she died, so what? Darwin was a Christian as was his wife. He struggled greatly with the fact what he observed in nature could not be reconciled with the bible. Darwin lived 200 years ago. Since then massive advancements in evolutionary theory producing over 250,000 peer reviewed scientific papers have been published. By the way, questioning yourself is how the scientific method works, you come up with a theory and then try to prove yourself wrong. Darwin never once said "I am right because I say so and you must believe me" like the bible does. The evidence is the truth and speaks for itself

    Hey Al, do you believe in the sun? Of course you do. What happens to the sun if you remove every single person off of this Earth? Nothing, it still shines every day....untill it runs out of energy. Now what happens to religion when you remove every single person off this Earth? Well, it doesn't exist anymore.

  • @therealsideburnz

    Describing evolution as chipmunks turning into human beings is so inaccurate it doesn’t even qualify as a caricature. A claim was made that evolution is full of holes, yet no evidence of these holes was presented.

    That's a load of crap. Large or small mouth. Return to the nest. Even if there releasted back at the ramp ! You look at 1 study. D.N.R. finds the exact same fish. Time and time again in the same spots. When they do electro shock surveys. Mind you. The fish are released back at the boat ramp after they collect there data. I dont feel your info is correct.

  • @seanlandsman7516

    @seanlandsman7516

    Bass do return to the nests after spawning, but that’s not the problem. The problem is what happens while they’re gone and NOT tending the nest. You’ve clearly never watched a bass be removed from a nest by an angler, and then its brood destroyed by egg predators like bluegills while the angler smiles for the camera. Even if the bass goes back quickly, the process of angling it is stressful and the bass may not resume its parental care duties until its recovered. Even if the nest isn’t completely destroyed and only a portion of eggs/fry are consumed by predators, it might take only a few anglers catching and releasing that bass before its nest is destroyed.
