A dermoid cyst is a type of benign (non-cancerous) cyst that can occur in various parts of the body. They are most commonly found on the face, inside the skull, on the lower back, and in the ovaries. Dermoid cysts can present with a variety of symptoms, depending on their location and size.
Visible Lump or Mass: A noticeable lump under the skin, often on the face, neck, or scalp.
Swelling: Localized swelling around the area of the cyst.
Pain: Discomfort or pain, especially if the cyst becomes infected or ruptures.
Redness: Redness around the cyst if it becomes inflamed or infected.
Tenderness: Tenderness to touch in the affected area.
Drainage: If the cyst ruptures, it may release a thick, yellowish fluid.
Discomfort During Movement: Discomfort or pain when moving if the cyst is located near a joint.
Fever: Fever may occur if the cyst becomes infected.
Changes in Skin Color: Skin discoloration over the cyst.
Increased Size: Gradual increase in the size of the cyst over time.
