How is it that I scoured the internet for advise for beginners and you are the ONLY person to explain it in a way I truly understand??? I've been looking for answers about these tools for nearly 2 years. Thank you!

Perfect song/project example
Great explanation! I lost the settings an old friend had walked me through almost a decade ago after a computer change, and all the tutorials I could find seem to be exclusively focused on EDM and rock. This is a perfect example to teach us how to work vocals needing a less aggressive compression style, thank you so much!
This is gold Jerry! Gold!
your daughter has a great 90s alt-rock voice - reminds me of kim deal :)
Awesome videeo Myk (and really great to see your daughter getting involved. Proper dad goals)
Sometimes compression is difficult to hear, because our ears (or at least the audio-processor part of our brains) kind of automatically compensate for dynamics anyway. Well, that's what I tell myself every time I mess up! Well explained again, Myk.
Very, very well done! I'm juuust starting with DAWs, so this was amazing. Well done, sir!

Thanks for the explanation! Great video!
Thanks Mike!
Well explained. Thanks.
Thanks! Very helpful - clear and detailed.
I've been wondering about some of the actual controls and what they do. Excellent video. Thanks!
Thanks very helpful 🙏👏👌
Nice dude! So glad you added the correction in text about the attack, I wouldn't have been able to hold back from jumping on this otherwise hahah

to quote an old commercial, "i learned it by watching you!" I knew as soon as i started speaking that i said it wrong, old habits die hard. But i figured i'd leave it and add the text correction just to keep the flow going.

@@LetsTalkAboutReaper Makes sense about keeping the flow! You know, I just realized I missed a great pun opportunity in my previous comment lol
Thank youuu
Using an oscilloscope plug, aids by seeing what the compressor is doing to the waveform.
Good video. Also, I would never have guessed you have a daughter that old. Good for you. You’ll be set when you're 80! 😀

Oh, I'm an old man 😂 will be 45 this year
Thank you for the great tutorial. 👍 I was wondering which template youre using? I came over from the heavy weight Ableton. Will you make a vid about the different types of compressors?

Hey, thanks for watching! I'm using the default theme in this video, I just color my tracks using SWS Extension Auto Color (I have a video on that topic) I do want to go further into compressors as I figure out a reasonable way to explain things 😂 I hope to cover side chain compression in it's own video, and multiband compression as well. Or are you more interested in FET, VCA, optical, etc?
Step 1: like video. Step 2: watch video. Coffee-free approaching 8 months.
