I have made several recipes that call for cream of coconut and when I read the ingredients on the can or squeeze tube, they had too many extra undesirable additives (preservatives, etc), so I researched and made my own. It was pretty much how you described it made- full fat canned coconut milk cooked down with sugar (I used much less) in a saucepan. So easy and no added ingredients. I wish you might have suggested this alternative. It freezes beautifully too. I agree with another commenter to suggest more close up on the ingredients you are describing. 😉

Thank you so much! I recently decided to make Pina Coladas at home and wasn't sure about the difference between coconut cream and cream of coconut. A bit confusing but you've cleared that up! I got the squeeze bottle cream of coconut and it is delicious.

You can use any of the products in the vid also but you'll have to use sweetener of choice to make it taste like Cream of Coconut (cream of coconut has sugars added to sweeten it)

One more mystery: I over whipped my coconut cream (it was badly separated) and now it’s like a thick blob of coconut oil on top of milk. Can I get it back to a cream consistency?

Do I need to chill the coconut cream before use? Or I can just open it and frost my cake? I'm making a strawberry icebox cake amd thought the coconut cream would work.

You can use it at room temperature -- just refrigerate after you've frosted the cake. Happy baking!

I am going to avoid this at all cost. It makes me sick very gassy, and diarrhea and bloated. It’s terrible. It’s not good for me coconut milk or coconut cream. No Txs never again.

1:46... She obviously did not read the ingredients of the can she's holding because that is NOT coconut milk (synthetic type made mostly of gum and coconut extract).
