Understanding Boiler Pressure Controls - Boiling Point

Ғылым және технология

Today on The Boiling Point we are joined again by Jude Wolf, one of our Boiler University teachers. Jude is here to talk about Honeywell pressure controls and what these pressure controls actually do for your boiler.
They go by many names: Christmas Tree, Operations Controls, etc. but they all do the same thing: control the boiler's operations. They shut down the boiler when steam pressure limits are made as well as kick the burner on to maintain pressure under a load. They can be confusing and complicated but Jude boils them down to be a bit more understandable.
Key terms:
Firetube boiler
Honeywell pressure controls
boiler pressure controls
pressure control
water level control
boiler shut down
operating control
high steam pressure limit
firing rate controller
short cycling
low fire hold
If you haven't attended a Boiler University class, we invite you to register by clicking the link in the video.
Remember the value of your boiler system, maintain it properly and save cost in the future.

Isn't the propose of the operating steam pressure switch with no manual reset, to cycle the firetube boiler's burner off and on, on high steam pressure since it's generally wired into the recycle circuit of the burner management system? Wouldn't this keep the boiler nice and hot during low load demands from the plant.

Thanks for the comment! So this video does a good job explaining how the switches work but we just produced a new video that explains the safety valve. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aqanpJqPY5O1p8o.html Check that out and it should give you a good understanding on how they all work together. Let me know if that helps out!

So, are any of those the MODULATING CONTROL? Is the low fire the equivalent of a modulating control?

What kind of tools should I have by default to repair various common problems that can happen to a peerless boiler. Right now. My psi was maxed all of 3 times it fired. Just bought house. I opened all my radiators. I added water to it so it was at the normal level. Then I took water out after noticing psi gage. It could have already been thsy high. It said low water when I took water out to lower psi. So I'm like...fuck. I poked a wire through the copper pipe thst is the little box that regulates the psi. Nothing came out of the psi. And well after I did that. I tried firing it back up. But now it won't fire. Pilot light is lit. I shut power off to it for 30 seconds ect. But still nothing. There is a little circular thing that let's the air out of pipes thag was working also. Anyways I'm avoiding calling a plumber and determined to fix and keep it upkeeped myself. It's warm now but want to get it off bucket list. Holar at me if you could
