The performance of this video proves you point, nobody pays attention to getting better at audio editing. What i like, Voice -9 to -6, background music -30 to -35, long talking head gets light background music, when i vlog, is use a go pro with a DJI mic 2, on right input and a dead cat rode ont left that way i have great voice audio but can use the left track dead cat directional for background sounds. Great tips. Have you tried the new voice enhance in sound essential, very awesome. Larry

G'day Sean, been a huge fan of your work for a long while, thought I'd drop you a quick note to say thank you 🙏🏼 Your style, examples and simple explanations are top shelf mate and my meagre channel has a lot to thank you for. Keep smiling, cheers from Australia 🇿🇦 🇦🇺✌🏻

The thing you said about starting the visuals a frame before the beat, I learned that the hard way. I use Vegas Pro, so idk if that makes a difference, but I've noticed if I put the start of a clip directly when the beat hit starts, it always never ends up seeming lined up in the final video. It always seems like the beat hit is coming before the cut happens. In mine, I do 2 frames before the beat hit. For Vegas Pro that seems to be where it actually seems lined up in the final video. I think this is a thing because of the way light and sound travels. But for some reason it's in reverse, and you're hearing the sound first, which is odd since light travels way faster than sound, so even on the beat, it SHOULD be that the cut to the next clip comes first, but whatever I guess lol

Being a retired musician, I find music very important to video and it can really transform it into something much more ‘emotional’. You can influence the way that your audience look at something. For instance a cliff with growling music or the same cliff with say, Vaughan-Williams playing. Totally changes how you see the cliff…. Especially when you also colour the cliff to be warm or cool looking too. So much can be done with music and sound. Thanks for a great video.

I am going to have to watch this a million times to learn all the content you crammed into this video. Completely awesome tips!!!!!! One question I would like to have you address: You record a scene and have video on the camera which includes all the background sounds and your voice to sync to the "voice mic". Once you sync the two what do you do with the camera sound track? I don't want to lose the background sounds. Please don't tell me I am suppose to capture a separate track of the environmental sounds so that I will end up with: Background sound track, voice track, music track, sound effect track, am I missing anything? Thanks again for sharing so much great information!

My videos aren't really good enough for adding music. ........although I admit that Rene at KZread said my channel deserves a classical theme song; Frederic Chopin's ...Marche Funèbre
