Understand your E6B! Obtaining ground speed and heading.
UNDERSTAND your E6B. A walkthrough for the Private Pilot, explaining how to obtain groundspeed and heading, given wind direction and speed.
Check out the second video: Reverse this process to obtain wind direction and speed: • Understand your E6B! O...
Remember, the E6B doesn't care if you use True or Magnetic, just be sure to use the same type of heading throughout the problem, i.e. if you use true winds, you will get true headings.

Thank you so much! You explained everything so well!
This was very helpful. Thank you!
Amazingly helpful. Love the examples and the airplane mode vs wind mode. Thank you!!!
Best Video yet no BS made it easy thank you very much.
you are the best teacher thank you! watched so many videos and you explained it so simply
Great video and awesome explanations!
The way you explain is very very clearly!! I understand how to get wind direction and velocity by E6B. Thank you!!
This video was a tremendous help for me while studying for my PPL. Very clear explanation!!
Thanks, great video which helped solidify the ground speed and heading calculations on the E6-B.
Well done - thank you.
Great simple explanation ! Love giving 2 examples so I can see with different numbers, Also with wind vs plane info ,Thank you!
yes so clear, thank you
So clearly.... Nice way
Thank you!! Now i get it :)
Thank you so much!
Good video thank u 🙏
Instead of saying wind mode or aircraft mode and confusing people on what you're talking about, just read the instructions on the E6B itself right above and make it simple for those who actually don't know how to use the wizwheel. Besides that, very good video brother!

I agree to follow instructions but saying wind mode & airplane mode makes sense , that way you can reason check the answer
Thanks a lot!
Thank very very much
So at what point in these calculations are you adding in or subtracting magnetic variation for the isogonic lines?
Hi Stefano Bertoldo., since wind is given in true you need to convert MC to TC by ADDING east variation, that is, the reverse signs of the old addage True Virginians Make Dull Company therefore MC 214d PLUS magnetic variation 14d east yields TC 228d,wind correction angle16d right yielding TH 244d and TAS 113. Interesting problem. Anyone else work this? HTH.
HUH, wind mode and aircraft mode?? I fail to see the difference. Never heard these terms before. Please help
Hi buddy...I'm getting crazy trying to solve a problem (atp faa)....these are the data: wind 290/36T magnetic var. 14E 92 kts. groundspeed, magn.curse 214 TAS on flight plan 110....what is the new tas I need?
Didint understood :/
I am very very need to understan all your vedeos but i can't understand becouse my english is not good
