Cut determines the Life & Sparkle of the diamond buying, the rest complement each other and give the overall effect. To get a great value you need to play with the variables. Starting off with I color and SI1 Clarity. Vendors such as James Allen and Blue Nile have great tools to filter out specific fields to pinpoint what we are looking for. Options like this beautiful budget stone .90 J color SI2 or this dazzling si1 H color 1.50 . Allow me to guide you to a smooth, risk free diamond purchase.

4 C's of Diamonds- DIAMOND CUT Diamond expert
The Diamond cut is the quality that breathes life into the stone. The allure and beauty come from the diamond's fire, sparkle, and brilliance. By far the most important C in the 4 C's of Diamonds. A well-cut diamond not only helps the fire and brilliance of the diamond but also all other factors. A beautifully flashy diamond will appear larger, make inclusions(imperfections) hard to see and also hide a lower color better. A well cut diamond will also make sure the dimensions are ideal in proportion. This means a one-carat will look like a one carat. If the cut is poor, this can be because the shape is off, the bottom is heavy, causing the diamond to appear smaller from top view. These are the major components that attribute to the Cut grade.
DIAMOND CARAT
Diamond Carat is considered 2nd in importance in the 4 C's of Diamonds. Costumers usually default to this because size is easily visible to the human eye. While color and clarity is hard to see. Its the obvious aspect that adds expense as there really isn't a way around it. Size cost money. A 0.95 carat vs a 1 carat diamond has a large price jump. Each fraction can make a large difference in cost.
Here is a 4 C's of Diamonds buying tip: Diamond buying 101
What I love about different styled engagement rings is you can dress it up and give it a larger appearance. If you have a certain budget, it may have more impact to buy a .80 with a beautiful halo diamond engagement ring than a one carat on a solitaire band.

    Osiris! I need to thank you for these videos! 4 months ago I stumbled across your channel and learned so much! I’m currently sat in Queenstown (New Zealand) airport with my now Fiancé after a successful proposal. After following your tips I went on to design the most perfect, highest quality GIA certified engagement ring for my partner. When the ring arrived from JamesAllen I had it valued for insurance purposes here in Australia and the replacement value came in $6,000 higher than what it cost me to create. We have never met or spoken, but you have played a massive part in a week I’ll never forget! Thank you!

    Was looking through some diamonds with a friend. There are way too many choices. If one doesn’t do enough research, it gets overwhelming. She settled for a 1.8 round G/IF triple Xs cut. The price was a bit eye-popping, but the stone looks amazing. She paired it with an F color cushion cut setting 😅. She says she has a budget, so I don't know, lol

    Thank you for this very informative video. I was wondering however, in this day and age of CNC machines and technology, should we not be able to have a "perfectly" cut diamond each and every time regardless of size ? I certainly understand back in the day before the technology when diamond cutting was a very manual process and it resulted in some better and some worse cut diamonds depending on the skill of the cutter. But in today's world, I would think the technology is there for making exact cuts each and every time.

  • @OsirisDiamonds

    @OsirisDiamonds

    3 жыл бұрын

    Its wild yes but not everyone can invest in such machines. Some companies are old school family owned companies. Stones sell and I would say slowly but surely, you will see ideal cuts more often as the pressure for only the top cut stones will grow. But stones will continue to sell in all the ranges of quality as pricing fixes that problem.

    Hi! Just seen your video and thought I’ll ask your advice. My husband and I are searching for my third, yes my third engagement ring/diamond - I got my first two diamonds so wrong, so 5 years later I have finally figured out what I want. I have diamond dealers doing the search for me and finally something exiting has come back. It’s a 4.03ct elongated cushion, E colour, SI1 clarity, excellent polish. It will be flown into London for me to see it. Everything sounds amazing about this diamond apart for the SI1 clarity - should I be in VS range with this size and cut?

    You are correct, GIA doesn't have a cut grade for fancy cuts(only round). You have to understand the diamond characteristics and their role to evaluate. This is when having a knowledgeable diamond expert helping you comes in handy. If you need any help, please email me at infodiamondcity@gmail.com.

    Yes there is. There is even a difference between excellent cuts and excellent cuts. There are different levels and they all cost. The diamond game is one of slights. Cut is the best way to spend your money. So lower your clarity and color and get the best cut possible.

    Awe that is awesome to hear, thank you! Happy I was able to help. 4 prong or 6 prong is very subjective. 6 prong will give you extra security so that is a positive for the 6. If you like them both, go for the 6.

  • @OsirisDiamonds

    Thanks for the comment. A D color diamond is the highest color possible. That comes with a premium. I would argue that's not needed to have a beautiful diamond so I wouldn't advise on A D color. Expensive is relative to your budget. When you have .50 carats, the difference isn't massive. Once you go to a carat and above the price point starts to change drastically.

    For round cuts, I guess it's a tradeoff between security versus how much light to allow through the stone in regards to how many prongs to go for a setting. Is a 4 prong setting safe enough for a 1 carat round cut stone ?

  • @OsirisDiamonds

    @OsirisDiamonds

    3 жыл бұрын

    100% safe yes. Its also a style choice. I think if you polish and upkeep the ring its a non-issue. They tend to check for looseness. If you have a very active lifestyle then be conscious to go every couple of years.
