Under The Glass - Episode 4 | Pyzel Ghost Pro

Спорт

The Pyzel Ghost Pro was the very first board Brett picked off the rack at REAL after going free agent. Once the waves turned on, this board lit up and exceeded expectations, which is saying something since there’s a lot of Ghost hype out there already. Brett dives deep into the difference between a barrel board vs. a step up, while Trip shows viewers that where the volume is can be more important than the number itself.

    Put Brett on the classic Hypto Krypto...I am so curious how he would ride that one. Also, try out some Firewires for kicks. Get on the Mashup! This could turn into the East Coast Noel Salas show...but with Real's quality.

    The Ghost has been the most difficult board for me to figure out but I’ve finally got it dialed and it’s amazing. The reason is because the foil between the front and back of the board is dramatically different. I’ve learned that if I want speed I don’t push/pump off the tail, just lean forward, that’s it. It just goes with much less effort. Then the shift of weight to the back foot for a turn is very sensitive. Overall It’s just more sensitive to weight distribution and as soon as you figure that out and let the board do the work for you it starts to feel amazing. I went back to my old HP shortboard and immediately started bogging rail because it couldn’t handle the weight from my front foot as well as the ghost. Hope that helps. Good luck.

    DVD baby ! One of the first videos I seen from real and should be a staple in choosing a board Design, Volume, Dimensions! This video gives one a chance to match that up

    It's also a lot to do with the entry rocker, very flat in ghost would help to paddle better.

    I love these reviews, but I wish there were some boards for older or bigger guys. Who aren’t pros. To get near my volume in this model I’d have to ride it as a 7’0”😂 Granted I am 56, 215 lbs and wear a 4/3 in Northern California but I’d like to think I have a few turns left in me. Besides, us older guys have more money to spend on surfboards.

    I ride it with the JJF as well… I like the fiberglass Pyzel fins for any board in bigger waves though. All the clips of this board in waves under head high were with JJF fins

    @@brettbarley that makes sense. I used to have a phantom round tail and similar thing except I used the fiberglass jack freestone fin. Now I’m on a Hydroshort and the vapor core raked fins are perfect

    In the market for a new board for An indo trip- would you recommend a ghost or ghost pro?

  • @REALWatersports

    @REALWatersports

    Жыл бұрын

    Both are great options for indo just depends on what you prefer as a surfer. The Ghost will have a little more width and thickness, which makes more volume, than the Ghost Pro. So for the same height board, the Ghost will give you a little more float and paddle power to get into waves early. If you prefer that volume stretched into a longer-leaner board for barrels in Indo then the Ghost Pro would be the way to go.

    Brett is 5'9" and around 160-165 lbs. He is almost always on high performance boards in the 18 1/2" range, so to him that is a bit wide 😆
