    You absolutely saved some precious moments for me! I had just used the GoPro for the first time this weekend and did exactly what you did and I deleted the files of my daughter's volleyball championship game where she scored the winning point to take her team to finals! I was able to recover every single moment of the game!! This mom thanks you so very very much!!!

    2020 this process works, if you are using a mac you might want to take a look at this video as well How to Recover Deleted SD Card Files for FREE | Mac. My only problem though was that for some unknown reason, my Fusion decided to take automatic pics right after my SD cards were accidentally formatted, which override the hidden deleted files. The lesson learned: If you deleted files don't record any new data, first attempt to recover your files.

  • @jbintegratedsolutions592

    @jbintegratedsolutions592

    This method is only good if you accidentally deleted the file. If you formatted your card and you have not recorded over it, then you might be able to recover the file with a data recovery program. The file will not be the same but you might be able to salvage some of the footage. You will also need to convert the file to a playable format as the file will be RAW data after you extract it with a data recovery program. The one I have used for this situation is Stellar Phoenix.

    If you have formatted the card after the files were deleted then the files are lost. This method only works if you want to recover a file that you accidentally deleted but not formatted. If you have formatted the card and you have not recorded new content on the card then you will can still recover the RAW data using a data recovery program but the files will need to be converted into a format that will play again. It is a very painful process.

    I have tried many of the other file opener applications and none of them see to do the trick. I downloaded VLC and when I drag the mp4 file into VLC, it just says that the duration of the video is 00:00 and does not play the video. The files that I try to drag in end in .mp4. are there any other solutions you can think of? If it helps, the .MP4 files don't have a picture on their icon and don't look like video files. Although they are mp4, the icon for them is just the blank piece of paper picture.

    Is there data in the files? If yes and it does not play then the file might be corrupted.

    It recovers my files, as it does Recuva, for example, but the videos are corrupt, though I didn't wrote anything on the card after the GoPro Studio deleted my files.

    Make sure you are copying the correct files. If you did not record over the files then the files should not be corrupt. The only time I was not able to recover the file is when the battery died on my GoPro and it did not complete the recording. I got a corrupted file.

    No usually once you delete the file from the camera and start to record, it will automatically write over the previous data and therefore you will not be able to recover the deleted file.

    I love you ! I'm not gay but Man, if only i could cry of joiness in your arms... I just drove 48hr in shitty buses, climb Machupicchu mountain took amazing shots, took risks to get the best shots... in the evening the fucking Gopro program turned on and made my card empty in less than a second (seriously i didn't touch anything). Everything was gone... While writting those lines, those precious shots are beeing copied. I tried from a mac and didn't work. from my windows partition (on the mac) it works fine though. So thank you so much !

    It does not have to be drive E. If drive F is your SD card and you can access it then the steps outlined will work. If your SD card has been formatted or you can't read it you will need to your another recovery program and extract the raw data.
