**UNCUT!!** Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Libertyville Illinois! EPIC SHELF CLOUD!! 08/24/2021 4K
Ойын-сауық
Unlike most other storm videos. The "UNCUT" part of the title in this video really means "UNCUT". I began filming immediately after the Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for my area and didn't stop until the storm was completely clear of my area. I didn't cut segments like 90 percent of storm channels do. So if you are looking for a video that shows the entire process of a storm approaching and passing with no gaps in the filming, then you can finally stop anxiously browsing the search results, because you found one!
The shelf cloud from this storm was incredibly tall and awesome! When it passed me, it was as if a whale swallowed everything in sight!
I did have to go in my car around halfway through the video. Getting struck by lightning was not on my agenda that day. I also had to drive away from the park for a period of time because I was worried about a branch falling on my car. Looking back, I definitely would have been fine, but I was unsure after seeing that shelf cloud.
Around the 30 minute mark, it briefly began to hail. They were smaller than peas but it was still incredible because I don't really see hail that often in northeastern Illinois.
I apologize for those stupid cicadas. If you’re annoyed by them, chances are I was even more annoyed about them than you while filming. I get it lol.

I didn't even realize how big that shelf cloud was, until it became more visible around the 13th minute. Wow.
The cicadas are completely fine imo, i even love them. They're just nice to hear before a storm
You know when a bad storm is coming because all of the insects, birds, and animals go silent very quickly. I love the fact that you let nature do the talking, rather than hearing narration all of the time.
Soooo beautiful i love watching severe storms come in!

That is very well defined shelf cloud! Very nicely captured, as were those individual mature cumulus early in the video! I have seen a few shelf clouds like this here, but this one carries with it a very distinct contrast!

I love uncut storm videos like these. A lot of the drama and tension of a storm is in seeing it develop, not cutting to the so called "good part". One can build a story around scenes like these. Great job!

As a former Illinoisan, I have seen stuff like that in person in recent history (mostly from my time in Cahokia) but surprisingly, those scary shelf clouds never once spawned a tornado where I lived. All we ever got from them was a very intense thunderstorm and sometimes cloud-to-ground lightning strikes on the other side of my street
@Trahzy

Shelf clouds don't typically spawn tornados, shelf clouds are usually straight line winds.

Hi, I’m from Queensland, Australia, and we just don’t get storms anything like in the USA. Amazing footage and audio ….. WOW, thanks for sharing!
I love the reminders that the Earth is considered a "storm planet"! That shelf cloud was MASSIVELY long--I've seen lots, but I don't think I've seen anything that long, other than the derecho we got earlier this year (that I didn't really look at, didn't even photograph which is unusual for me, just ran for cover!). Amazing! Also thank you for not adding any music--the music of the storm is what I want to hear. :)

Most impressive shelf cloud I’ve ever witnessed bar none. Whales mouth was pretty special as well.
this is a great video dude. nice job 💯👍 that day i remember i was at O'Hare airport😨
Back in 99/2000 I live in a little village on Lake Ontario on the US side. It was late July and ever year they’d have the level regattas. So you’d have 100s of people in this small village. It was very hot and humid that day and around 5:00 we noticed it getting dark over the lake. I had people over for a little gathering/party. I remember saying that don’t look good. So, me and my bud went on top of the roof and watched this shelf cloud slowly coming in, just like this. Beyond the shelf cloud there was this menacing green tint with violent thunder and lightning. It was as if it was rolling in like a giant steamroller. Got to a point were we actually became scared., it got dark really fast. When it finally came in it was like a tornado. Trees and limbs were knocked down and the roads were flooding . the lightning and thunder was violent! People were scattering all over the place. Plus the power was out for a good 48 hours after it hit. I’ll never forget it it was scary but cool to watch come in. Thanks for sharing this video , brought back some memories!

Its nice to see the full vertical extent of the cloud system from a distance before the shelf is even visible. Really helps appreciate the scale. Looks like the shelf got a little too far ahead of the line and spared you of the worst. Very intimidating to watch though.

Yesterday in Oshawa Ontario there was a severe thunderstorm with lots of wind, a tornado was reported north of kingston ontario too.
Very smart to stand outside and film.
