4 minutes into the video, and I got a great idea. I have garnet pieces from a year ago, and there's 1 beautiful gem that I've wanted to get out but couldn't. I've tried a few things, but never thought to use a dremel. I'm definitely going to order one and see if that will work Update: I have a Dremel, works great!!!
Justin, you are in many ways like Bob Ross. I liked watching him, and I like watching you. Both artists, just in a different medium. You rock. G'day mate.

Amazing outcome Justin! I have never seen you dig out nobies out of such a big piece of dirt!
I think the big sand spotted one is lovely. I like the cloudy effect of the sand against the colors of the opal.

@patches Cook agreed.
Every time you rub a stone that won’t make a decent gem, I always think about what could be made from it. One idea that keeps popping into my head is making them into ball shapes that look like planets or scene stones. With all the colors there, including the sand, they would make beautiful stones for earthy looking jewelry.

I think you should use the odd shaped knobbie that won't make a good gem but it would make a nice natural pendant

It just goes to show you can never judge how good an opal is in the rough. Loved every minute of you peeling the sandstone away from the nobbles.
That was truly amazing watching those colors come out!absolutely beautiful stones!

Sehr schöne Opale, top Justin 👍👍👍
After all the years of me being a rock hound and finding my first geod filled with what looked like chocolate chips in a big white rock which turned out to be dark garnet, my first amethyst and tourmaline being found in california, to me working with gems in my later years it never stops to amaze me of the colors mother earth and natural science gives us to find like a scavenger hunt. Hit or miss its all still a miracle. I still say you should bust up the ones you cant use as full stones for inlay or to put in little vile pendants or hour glass. Ohhh that would look nice, an opal hour glass.

This brings back memories! When I was in high school, my father brought me some opal rough from Honduras. It was mostly potch, but I spent hours digging out the little knobbies from the matrix, mostly using a dremel! This video makes me wish I still had access to lapidary equipment.
Love that you're a Bill Burr fan.

I’m learning I have 10 nobbies from a young man who was from lightening ridge, we met when we both had spinal injuries over 10 years now. He handed me a bottle before he left with 10 small rock...that’s all I knew about them then. He gave to me 10+ yrs back and until Covid I didn’t pull them out. Will and want to share, you will see what an armature/clueless person (me) found. I have a story anda good one to share. I have always been an artist but find black opal direct and Justin, Mel and your son and all that can dance and have fun, just adore your company and skills you teach. I used to be able to take on anything and addressing you now...it’s just my beginning. I need advice and find this with black opal direct, Thankyou you will see why. Soon I hope. 🙏🏽

Watching you gives me more of an idea of "how to" but having only been exposed to polishing other stones, I was afraid to get into opal, because if you ground too deep, could loose the color and I didn't want to go there because of the lack of experience I had. I enjoyed watching you.
