$800 spent - Do I get my investment back

Welcome to Black Opal Direct!
Buying rough opal is a risk that doesn't always pay off, but when it does, that's the stuff that keeps us opal-holics coming back!
How do you know if the rough opal you're investing in will be worth it? Short answer... you don't. But there are a few things you can look out for.
Let me show you how I deal with the risk of buying rough opal.
Did I just waste $800 big ones? Would I have been better off buying $800 worth of fish tacos? Stay tuned to find out...

@@blackopaldirect I inherited some Ethiopian opals and became very fascinated with your channel. There’s some nice size pieces and I am learning about pricing them how do you determine how much you pay for a raw gem like the ones you show on your channel? I don’t have the equipment to turn them into something beautiful but would love to get them into your hands. Thanks in advance for any info leading into the right direction

Thank you for sharing your wisdom brother. As I watch you at work, even though I have never polished a stone, I am experienced in bringing a grain out in wood and understand stones from a healers perspective...30 plus years... thinking of investing in a set of polishing wheels because I sense how to do it.

I love watching the videos mate, I really appreciate learning about opals. I bought a small I was told fire opal for a lovely lady years ago this got me into watching shows about the beautiful gems. I'll be watching out for more cheers

That sounded so dry there and was good to hear all the wildlife sounds around you. You had some nice finds in the creek. Thank you for sharing your trip out camping

Thank you. I've been given a few small chips of opal as practice pieces. I like to see you work as it shows me how and where to look for the signs of colour.

I am sorry it didn't go as well as it might have, but it was so interesting to see the process in finding the best it had to offer. We see a lot of spectacular stones, and a lot that turn out as expected, but the mystery in this one was fun. Thanks, Justin!

Watching videos over again. And this one is one of the ones that makes you say "well that's opal". Just never know until it's polished. Beautiful stone though because of those awesome colors. Thanks Justin. Aaron from TX
