Uncut Crystal Gem Opal - or so I thought!
This piece of seemingly Coober Pedy Opal rough is actually Andamooka Seam Opal and this is what leads me to believe I have a nice Crystal Opal or two or three on my hands! However, in this world of Opal cutting, you never really know what you will end up with once the cutting and polishing session is over. Tune in to see what lies beneath the sandy exterior.

I find opals totally magical, and watching you bring out their hidden beauty is a total joy. As is your thought-provoking outlook on life. Thank you my friend.
Stumbled upon your videos last night and I’m in awe. I lost my daughter in 2022 and her birth stone is opal. I can’t afford your stones but I do absolutely love and appreciate your craft. Best wishes in every cut.💖💜🩵💚❤️💛🧡🖤
I know the black opals are worth more, but I can’t help but root for the underdog and say I love the crystal and white opals ❤️

In the 80's my Step Dad bought my Mom a carved opal lady pendant. This pendant wasn't flat. The lady stood about 2 inches high and was carved on all sides. My Mom called her Mi Ling. It was gorgeous. My parents divorced and my Step Dad has it. I've NEVER seen anything like it since. I've looked. It has to be worth a pretty penny but to me it just reminds me of my Mom. She loved opals and passed that love along to me. My Mom died in 1985 but I know she would have loved watching this channel!!!!

I haven’t watched for a few months but I’ve always loved your channel. I’ve two opals one black and one white with a bit of colour. Would love to make rings out of both but I’ll be 83 in a few days and I’ve been putting it off for far too long. I think it’s time to get it done.

Brother, you battling opal is one of the most fascinating things on KZread. I can't thank you enough for opening up a window to this world for me. God bless you and yours.
Using all 3 stones in the one piece of jewellery say a gold choker with all the stones suspended vertically would be a spectacular design. Well done
I love watching you cut opals. You make it seem like we're there too, a little nervous, a little disappointed, everything. And thank you for your wisdom and prior advice about laughing, which you're so right about!
Justiin, love the way you talk us through the process, I am a opal lover because it is my birthstone and it is beautiful.
We are a reflection of your own dear nature Justin. Merci kind generous man, merci.

This is so interesting to me. Our Science department at my college is currently having us run studies on more effective ways to remove Sand and Potch from Gemstones. We have a Chemical compounding test (Which is still very much a fail as it weakens the stone over the acceptable limit.) As well as a precision Lazer that so far has been able to be calibrated so that it only flakes off the Sand and leaves the stone intact. It's got a lot more work to go into it but the hopeful outcome is that we will ve able to remove just the unwanted bits inside the Stone and give a clear and clean look for the cutter on how to maximize the stone's beauty and color.
I'm just a guy cutting opal in a shed I guess 😂 because I don't have much of a following but I cut some amazing aussie opal! Thanks for teaching me to cut Justin. Over three years I have been cutting and now I couldn't imagine my life without it.
Happy to be apart of this community I’ve only been an Opal nut for about 3 months now but I’m already trying to work my own rough Opal!!!
A day is not complete without watching u boss..
Thank you for your appreciation I love watching you
So many colors in the first stone, rainbow therapy.😍
I enjoy watching you Justin. You do beautiful work. Alot of people wear their heart on their sleeve. Including me. Thank you!
A true master craftsman at work, a real pleasure to watch. Thank you
Enjoyable to watch the three stones being cut, but I'm partial to the smallest (1.52 ct) one. Great video as always!
Tnak you Justin for your fantastic videos and commentary, and the great comedy you provide your followers.
I have love rocks for 60yrs. It’s fascinating to watch you cut opals . I see all the skill you were taught by your Dad and continued to learn from your own experiences. Your down to earth attitude and funny side makes follow up fun even when making risky cuts. Thank you Justin.
Dear Justin, We enjoy watching your channel.
It has been an absolute joy to watch you from beginning to now. You are the Obi-wan Kenobi of opals. ❤
I really enjoy this video format, and it's a profound privilege to watch you work
Justin those stones came out amazing fantastic work Buddy
those 3 stones would make fantastic set of jewellery
If Mr. Rodgers were still with us, or Bob Ross, they would be subscribers. We love you, guy in a shed. 🤍

One day you should do a "throwback" episode, and cut an opal in that old place you used to have...It looked to be a shed, or an out building of some kind.

Beautiful!!❤ Opal is my Birthstone....So Happy to find Your Channel!!... Love watching you cut and a Beautiful Stone appears!!.... Also Thank You for the information You share!! .....
Wherever it's from doesn't matter to most people. Especially because it's already beautiful. Then to have you cutting it. I can't wait to see.
If you love what you do, so they say, it will never seem like work. I am blown away when I see you what you do and the passion you display .To take a piece of stone and manipulate that inner beauty to shine through, is so satisfying to watch and makes me feel as if I’m sitting next to you, so your successes are mine and your disappointments are as well. When you had to finally cut one stone into two, I was right with you. You show us what can be accomplished with patience and love and the peacefulness that you project to us in each video .
That little cushion cut is a bargain at $600 ! Awesome work again Justin ........ Thanks Mate !
Just absolutely gorgeous! Opals are my most favorite choice in any gems! So glad I found your channel-now I’m hooked! Great video.
I've been a pearl person all my life TILL NOW! What a beautiful opal. Seeing you working your magic is very impressive. Thank you. I think I am now an addict to watching you.😊

Been watching you for a few years now (I was always commenting on your dad's cap). It still is amazing to see the true beauty after a stone has been cut and polished. Oh and let me guess Justin. For all those 'Beaten by the sand' ones..I'm guessing you pulled your hair out a long time ago. 😂😂😂😂😂 Cheers Mate !
Hi Justin, that was another interesting video, watching you make the decision to cut and why, impressive stone turned into 3 great looking Gems, quite intriguing. Not quite the return you anticipated but a nice return. Missed a couple of your videos lately, work gets in the way even when your retired. I was gifted a couple of offcuts of boulder opal, such stunning colours in those as well, not you favourite I know but amazing stuff as well. Several pieces had been turned into spheres, quite awesome. You and BOD crew & Keep Safe.

Whoa what gooooogeous stones! And to think.... YOU Justin, made those. I can only imagine how proud your father is of you! Not only are you creating beyond beautiful gemstones.... you are teaching what he taught you to people all across the world. I am from the coast of Oregon in the US... if you can reach me.... I know you have been able to reach so many other opal enthusiasts. I found you about 2 years ago and now I'm investing in lapidary equipment just so I can simply try and its all due to your videos. So as much as you appreciate us, we definitely appreciate you. Congratulations on all your achievements 👏 you surely deserve it 😇
Wow! Those look amazing. I never thought about Opal in the past. So I didn't know anything. Now that I've been watching you, I have a fascination with them. Still don't recognize patterns very much. But I know the differences between types of Opal. So, Thank you for the knowledge I've gained. Love your channel. 💯👍

I am also an artist, but also a chess player. The approach and attention to detail, while constantly reassessing as you go, seems very similar to chess. Fascinating.
Great video as always. I think my favorite part is the opal chip on your left finger at about minute 14. It just keeps shimmering in all its glory.
Hi Justin. I loved the vid. Like many I imagine, I developed a fascination for Opal watching Outback Opal Hunters on TV. The narrative is always heavily leaning toward the undoubtedly hard working miners. It can sometimes make the Opal buyers appear a bit mean regards their offers for parcels. I have learned a lot from your wonderful vids in that often the buyer is taking a huge gamble too. I would love to learn more about that side of the buyer's story in future vids.
Some very nice stones Justin. Have a ripper mate!
Justin thank you for the adventure and watching the beauty of the Opal come alive !
You guys are awesome Justin❤ always a pleasure to watch. Thanks!
The large one will make one heck of a beautiful pendant for that special someone. I'm really glad you're selling torches now, I've been eagerly awaiting those. Unfortunately it's a bit out of my price range for a torch, but I hope you sell out quickly.
I love, love, love watching you work! These to me, are the prettiest ones yet!
The 2nd video of you cutting Andamooka opal, I watched back to back. These videos were fun because those opals are so different to cut strategically. The gems turned out stunning.
Gosh I love how you roll them Justin, around and get the quad curve on the edge with such ease. It's bloody beautiful mate and Justin does Justice to my favourite gem in all the world.
