You have to know people. Black people tend to go where everyone else is going. Doesn't matter whether the hairdresser is late or whether they have to sit and wait all day. I have never understood this. I have been in the salon every since 1989. I have always been in a family business. Attempted to venture out one time. Only did that one day to know that wasn't for me.

I think it depends on your age. At 17, it was better for her to learn until she felt comfortable vs. someone being licensed and 25 yrs old. Of course you still need experience but you may be mature enough to handle the legalities of being your own boss.

I agree to a certain extent. You are never to old to learn. The beauty industry is a business and most beauty professionals are talented people but don’t have business acumen. She even said after being under those people she still had a lot to learn when she because the boss. I say go under someone that has systems, structure and a retirement plan.

@@BeautyMeetsBusiness I became licensed at 19, and I wish I had guidance in my first salon.

@@angieBhanson I’m hoping to create an organization that will help set beauty professionals up for success. Myself and my partners want to create a business success track for salon owner, suite owners and booth renters.

@@BeautyMeetsBusiness I love what you do Angel. I feel whatever you start will be successful. I went into a new career and would do hair on the side throughout the years. I wish you much success. And of course, I love doing some hair still. Blessings, Angie

The very key important thing is to gravitate to liked mind women who doesn't mind helping each other grow ✨ and I truly think that is hard to find within the beauty industry as of today. I myself have been licensed 15 years and I have seen the changes and transition.
