Today I am meeting Spanish artist Javier Calleja in his studio in Málaga. He sits down with me, we talk about his upbringing, his journey into art while not shying away from the hard times and challenges he encountered along the way.
Javier shares many crucial moments in his career, from working with his first gallery in Spain to meeting with Japanese renowned gallery NANZUKA that will propel his career until his current exhibition at Fundacion Unicaja in Málaga in the historical Bishop’s Palace.
Javier also discusses learning along the way and addresses criticism and misconception he received in regards to his works resemblance to Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara while sharing his opinion of what real originality means to him.
