Hey Brian, I want to give you a big thank you... Once again your videos saved my day. I looked up Da Vinci Pro won't load filament . A couple of videos came up and they took the whole nozzle carriage apart. I freaked but of course I went to your to your channel to see how to take apart carriage and of course you had the solution right way. I followed this video and in less than ten mins. I am up and printing. Thank you for going to the trouble of making great honest videos. I am a beginner and found you after I ordered The Pro for my metal casting. Since the Crisis because your videos the last 6 weeks my Pro has been printing non-stop 24/7 making PPE's for people in need for protection in hot zones in America. You are a part of helping people like me, helping people who are saving lives in the hot zone. Thanks from all Americans that you helped keep our daVinci Pros going especially now during this Corona Virus World War. Now more Face Shield Frames are being printed and going to Hot Zone because of this video or I would be down until I got another carriage.

Wow, thats a great compliment, thank you. But to be honest..... You are the one that deserves the compliments as YOU sir, you are making these PPE's that are soo needed.

I started in February with a da Vinci 1.0 Pro and XYZ Print that is very basic but learned so much by staying with that for the last two months....... I would like to Thank Everyone that posts on all Facebook 3D Printer Owners Pages and that has Welcomed, Helped and Makes all Newbies feel a part of the 3D Community........ I would also throw a very Special Thank You to Brian, The 3D Print Creator on You Tube. Brain helped me get started with my Pro before I got it, I bought my da Vinci Pro on a impulse on Amazon and then I found him on you tube. Brain went out of his way to answer questions and walk me though fixes. I have now got a second printer, Artillery X1 Sidewinder on Brains and other You Tube Review Recommendations. Now I went to Facebook and Joined the 3D Community. Thanks Everyone.........

Thank You, this was to the point and very helpful. The part that was particularly helpful, when you used the razor to cut the filament just aboveare the extruder cog. I was having a hell of a tiime getting my extruder out and its cause it was broke off in the ptfe tube keeping me from getting my hot end out. I didnt realize that the ptfe tube went that far down. Very detailed and I can't thank you enough!

I love your videos, they really help with being a newbie like me!

And welp... After trying everything from XYZ's Channel and everything else online, YOURS was the only one that worked.. Thank you man!

Good to hear that. I have a lot of movies about the Da Vinci Pro printer on my KZread channel and I think that every problem that has actually happened is discussed once for that printer. If you run into things, just look between the videos, then you will find something that you can continue with.

My very 1st printer kit back in 2014 came with a metric set of ball end Allen wrenches & later building foam board RC planes I acquired straight length of music wire in the 1.60/1.70mm range. Heat is our friend, bringing the nozzles up to printing temperature and inserting will 99.9%, force the materials out, with no other actions. Mono, Up, XYZ, Robo & on & on.

Not to mention that guitar strings are way cheaper than all the unclogging wires that you can buy online.

Just Unclogged my nozzle thanks for the video I didn't have a torch so i used my 350w heat gun and cleared it with the small wire

an easier way is once the cartridge is out , leave it plugged in and rest it on the rail , and use the load or unload function to heat the nozzle , and do the same procedure to unblock nozzle , it worked for me as i am limitted with the only use of one arm

That will for sure do it most of the time, unless you have a clog from something like Nylon or even worst, a material like glow in the dark or a metal fill material. Then you really need to heat it up to a temperature you cant reach with the nozzle itself (being limited to 240C).

that is for sure brian , a quick fix for the normal filaments ...., i have not experimented with the exotic filaments yet , and that is when i will invest in the blow torch and new learning curve

I've got a jam in filament in the extruder. I have tried to take the extruder head out, but I now know that I can't take it out with the filament still in the extruder. Problem is, I can't see where to cut the filament. There appears to be a tube leading down to the extruder and I am really afraid to cut that. Any suggestions?

Hi Rob, In earlier printers, there was a gap where you could cut the filament to get the extruder out. In the newer ones they don't have that gap anymore, because there is some brass funnel that goes into the extruder. I don't have that newer model, but I heard you could not get a knife or Exacto blade in between anymore. Applying force to break the filament seems to be the only possibility as I heard.

Will the 1.0 Pro hot end assembly fit in a 1.0 or 1.0A ? We'll done. The yanking of filament out any temperature has never worked for me. The nylon trick I have yet to try.

@@3dPrintCreator It looks exactly the same except improved cooling on the hot end stem mounting block. I'd love it if they sold those parts individually. Love the printers, worst company EVER to buy a part from. I've done a lot of work to increase cooling on that block and reduce clogging of the stem when plastic melts up above the head and causes a restriction. I might order one.

Me and my Father are trying take out extruded on davinci 1.0 pro we saw one of your videos and saw that you used a razor to cut something was it the tubing that directs the filament because I noticed a piece of filament stuck inside I’m thinking if I cut it would free the extruder to com out and free the stuck filament thank you for your help

Hi. On the earlier Da Vinci Pro machines it was possible to cut the filament right above where the cartridge is put into the printer but on newer models there is some kind of metal funnel that makes it impossible to make that cut. If you have an early model, then a few strokes with t sharp razor blade will cut the filament but if your printer has the funnel, then the only thing you can do is use more force and brake the filament on that part. Use gentle force because you can do this only when done gently. Beating the crap out of the cartridge will destroy it, but gently increasing the force on it will make the weakest thing break, and that is the filament. Good luck, I know how frustrating this is. hi brian i hope your well and got your bathroom all up and running again. quick question how do i replace a 0.04mm nozzle end with a 0.03mm end on the da Vinci pro? ive searched hi and low for a video but without success.

You can only do so if you have like an E3Dv6 or something like that installed. If so, then you can unscrew just the nozzle and place a new one. With the original nozzle of the Da Vinci Pro, I have not yet found any replacement.

Yes you have to, the PTFE tube has to be removed.

Sorry, but no. I don't know that printer. Most of the times though, it has to do with a wire that is broken somewhere.

When I cut the filament (3mins in to your video) I still can't remove the extruder cartridge, because there is a fixed metal nozzle that guides the filament down into the black plastic feed guide shown on your cartridge, in the video. This doesn't appear to be there on your printer!? It is preventing me tilting the extruder cartridge forward to remove it. Big frustration.

I can just see the nozzle on your video at 3.07 mins I think. I don't understand how the filament comes out of it. I can't get a knike blade inbetween the metal nozzle and the black plastic feed guide.

I've heard and seen that newer machines have a metal kind of funnel that guides the filament down. My machine didn't have this and then my tip works. I guess you have to try to heaten up the nozzle and try to remove the filament by hand when the nozzle is hot.

I ended up taking my nozzle apart to clean it out because nothing else I did would work for more than maybe 1/2 of the next print before it was clogged again.

+Brian Dodds well this nylon string does work very good. It really empties the nozzle so it's perfectly clean.

This is due to the adhesion between the filament and the nozzle. As long as the weight of the filament hanging out of the nozzle is less then the force of the adhesion, there is a fair chance that the filament curls up around the nozzle.

Help! I have filament stuck, and it's driving me up the wall. I can't pull it out, as it broke too far down, now the whole thing is jammed up. I'm at a total loss now.

I just replied on your tweet, but know I see you have seen this video already. I have another video explaining how to do it, please check it on my website: 3d-printcreator.com/unclogging-the-da-vinci-pro-1-nozzle/ There might be one difference in your Da Vinci compared to mine. I can slide a knife in between the printhead and the machine while newer machines have a copper tubing there that you can't cut. If that's the case, you have to apply just enough force to break the filament at the position where it leaves the copper pipe, or you have to heaten the nozzle with a cream brulle burner inside the housing of the machine and push filament through the nozzle while doing this. Good luck and let me know if this worked.

@@3dPrintCreator Hi, sorry for multiple cries for help, it was stopping me sleep. I managed to get a fine woodwork chisel through the tiny gap in the circuit board, to cut the filament. No idea why that suddenly came to mind to do, but I'm giving you credit, I knew if I asked you I'd get it sorted. Many thanks.

Great videos - This one will help me remove broken filament, and the "Clicking Noise" one helped me solve my own clicking issue! I do have a question though- What camera are you using inside the printer? and how do you get the light to stay on while printing so I can monitor it ?

Hi Jim, I have several camera's that I use inside my printer. They are ranging from GoPro 3+ to Canon XF200 (with the side panels removed from the printer) depending on the problem I want to show inside the printer. Then, for the light, I set the menu to keep the lights on (this is a function in the menu of the printer) but I also have extra lamps installed inside the printer for video purpose.

I didn't find any other way so I'm writing here to ask support, today my Xyz Da Vinci Jr 1.0 stopped working, it lights up but it doesn't print, the pla even if the extruder is heating up to 205°, the pla doesn't go down when I try to unload the cartridge, the wire doesn't exit from the extruder and I don't know how to fix

it's like if the pla got stuck into the extruder, the transparent wire doesn't detach from the extruder and even if I watched some tutorials which say "press the spring near the alimentation hole" I can't find any spring, I'm so confused I'm trying since this morning and I'm so confused, I really need help on this please!

Hi, I don't own a JR so I don't know how to fix it on this specific printer, but you have a clogged nozzle and I am sure that there are fixes for this on Thingiverse or in the XYZPrinting Facebook Group. Also, On my videochannel there are video's about how to get rid of clogged nozzles but these video's are specific for the Da Vinci Pro. Maybe this is comparable, I don't know. Good luck. You can try a guitar string (Metal string High E string that is) and heat it up. Then you can stick it in the hot end and push it up. Most of the times, the filament comes loose then.

Sorry, I missed this reaction to comment on. The Da Vinci Pro doesn't have an all metal hot end. It's a normal brass nozzle that can wear out very easy. Therefore a lot of users (including me) tinkered the machine to work with an E3Dv6, where you are able to replace the nozzle for an all metal one.

Have you got a link how how to do this please? 1 week in and I now know how to strip this head apart due to blockages! Would like to swap the head for a E3Dv6 also, is it the 12v or 24v 1.75mm kit?

I will have another question for you the duration of life of the buzzard in hours of work would you give me the rest to this question

I think your question is how long it takes to clean the nozzle??? If so, well anything between 5 minutes to a full hour, depending on how hard it is to get the clog out. Most of the time however it takes about 5 to 10 minutes.

Hello not actually my original nozzle has to work approx 200 hours and it already used d after my repairer so my question is for you who certainly use more how many hours of printing can it do

Ah okay, The number of hours your nozzle can be used varies depending on the type of filament you use. If you use soft filament, like PLA or ABS, it can be many hours. If you use abrasive filaments like Carbon Fiber PLA, Woodfill, Bronse- Copper- or Brassfill, etc. then the nozzle will wear out very fast. On a brass nozzle it can be done in less then 2 hours with Carbon infused PLA.
