These drains and culverts this guy clears should have been done by the public works departments, but I digress. This stuff is out of sight, out of mind, until someones house or a neighborhood is flooded, then everyone is scratching their heads, and their asses wondering how did this happen. This is a blatant failure of the very people we pay our taxes to, and they do absolutely nothing. If I were a public works department head, I would be completely embarrassed, but I guess when you have lifetime tenure, a pension with full benefits, who gives a damn if someones home or business is destroyed. It is just another day at the office. I applaud this guys efforts, but it is something he really should not have to do to protect his community. I saw one of his videos where the culvert had became so bad, that it began to threaten I-90, which is a major east-west interstate that runs from Boston Massachusetts to Seattle Washington. It took a television crew to come out, which created a major embarrassment to M-DOT to the point where they were forced to replace the culvert, or a portion of I-90 would have collapsed. When your government begs for more of our money, tell them to watch this guys videos, then tell them they have neither deserved more tax money, or earned the tax money they are currently extracting from us citizens. This guy works harder for free, than a thousand government workers do for money.

He can only do so much without a license. To do this work properly he would need a chipper-trailer a truck to tow it with, and all the permits that go with that. But then he would legally only be able to do jobs on private property. For public ones such as is likely seen in the video, he must be hired by the municipality to do so.. For better or worse in the US what he is doing is not technically _legal,_ but it's also not expressly _illegal_ in most places either.. There is just very little incentive to stop him for now.

I watch these videos for stress relief. When it rains heavily I now check for flooding and see if there’s any grates I can uncover. It’s like watching a live performance lol

Im a fan of just burning that crap in a bonfire. That entire debris pile would be reduced to a less than 50gal drum of ashes in about as long as it takes to toss the peices in. Then you can dispose of the ashes however you want, the easiest being dump them in the woods above the floodplain. And the CO2 emissions would be about the same as letting it rot anyway.
