UNCLOGGING CULVERTS AND LOW WATER BRIDGES IN OKLAHOMA! SNAKE SIGHTINGS! NT#51
#beaverdam #culverts #oklahoma #beaverdamremoval #unclogging
FAQs/Why would they do that?! Answers
We are so glad you are here! Welcome to our channel!
1. We are in Oklahoma near the Arkansas border.
2. We do this on a volunteer basis.
3. Kim aka Mom is retired. Jennifer owns her own business as a massage therapist.
4. We film multiple locations in one day since we can’t go out all the time given Jen’s full time job. You may not see all the locations we filmed that day in one video.
5. You may see other people in our videos at times including Granny aka Sue (mom’s mom), Jeff (Kim’s husband and Jennifer’s dad), or Jessica (Jennifer’s little sister) and Lucy (our beautiful, amazing, wonderful dog).
6. Many wonder why we put stuff down culverts. A few reasons: it provides help for wildlife, we like to and it would have gone downstream anyway. If it blocks another culvert then we will take care of that too but most of the locations we visit are in incredibly rural areas where there won’t be another culvert for miles.
7. We care about wildlife and never want to cause harm to them. The only reason we will clear a beaver dam is if it is threatening land or roads that can not be accessed any other way. It may not be the road directly within sight but a farm road close by.
8. We appreciate advice in the comments. We understand that we will receive constructive criticism in the comments. What we won’t allow is the calling of names, derogatory terms, or just plain calling us stupid or idiots. We are all adults here and the internet is already a largely negative place as it is, let’s not add to it. We are people doing our best to help our neighborhood and planet by picking up trash and clearing culverts. Why do we deserve hate for that?
9. You may not agree with or like the way we did something but that doesn’t mean we did it wrong. There is a right/wrong way to dismantle a bomb. Clearing culverts is up for interpretation to the one doing the work.
10. We hope that you enjoy our videos and will keep coming back for more! Any other questions you have feel free to ask in the comments.

I don’t blame you for not going out in July and August, safety first, always. I’m glad that there will be content to see us through the summer months. Thanks for thinking ahead. I would miss your videos if I had to going two months without one. I’m currently watching this in July and it’s 37C and humid. I just checked, Amazon has snake gloves. 🇨🇦😎🇨🇦
I love how Lucy gets to go out with y'all. She looks so happy out there in the woods!

Happy 4th of July, ladies! Nice video again. Scary snake, eeww. I'm glad you saw it in time, Jen.
Love when Lucy comes along she takes dips like my dogs.We have cattle barrels that catch our rain water and they will step in and dip their bellies to cool off. Thanks for all your post love you all Jen,mom/Kim,Kay Kay and Granny !
Entertaining, amusing, relaxing and fun. 👍. What more can you ask for? Thanks very much to you both for your commitment. 💜
To move that log. Use your rakes as leverage to roll it. Put rake at a 45 degree angle and use handle to push/roll it.
In the heart of Oklahoma’s wild expanse, Where culverts hide secrets, waiting to dance, A fearless soul wields shovel and spade, To clear the way for water’s serenade. Beneath the sun’s relentless gaze, The culverts yawn, their dark mouths ablaze, With tangled roots and mud-caked walls, A labyrinth where shadows crawl. But as Jen digs, sweat-soaked and grim, A rustling stirs-a primal hymn. Emerald eyes peer from the murky gloom, A serpent’s gaze, a silent loom. “Stay back!” Jens heart screams aloud, For in this realm, fear wears a shroud. The snake, its scales like polished jade, Slides forth, a guardian unafraid. Its tongue flickers, tasting the air, A whispered warning, a primal dare. Jen trembles, pulse racing wild, Caught between duty and nature’s guile. The culvert’s mouth, a portal unseen, Holds secrets older than the land’s green. The snake, a sentinel of ancient lore, Coiled in wisdom, it guards the core. With each stroke of the shovel’s blade, Jen wonders what price is paid. For clearing paths, disrupting the peace, Awakening fears that never cease. Yet, in that moment, a choice is made, To honour both worlds-the light and shade. The snake retreats, its message clear, Respect the dance, hold reverence near. And so, the culverts yield their way, As fear and awe entwine each day. Oklahoma whispers tales untold, In culverts cleared and hearts made bold.

Glad you are going things to be safe.
Another awesome video. Thank you so much. I always look forward to your next one 🤩🤩
I wondered how you two were coping with the heat. A lot of YTers film a bunch and make enough videos for the year. Smart thinking! Thank you for thinking of us and our addiction to culverts, bridges, and ditches!
I did wonder how you managed in the heat. When its 40+ here we try not to go out and about if its not necessary. People who think the average aussie lives at the beach dosent know us all that well, and for you to get out and do the heavy work is just dangerous, ignoring the snake problem-thats just another level of risk thats not acceptable. Thanks for stockpiling theses videos for us. I know i look forward to seeing you 3 ladies so much
You can do them anytime you’re videoing is great job 😊😊😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
Ladies, over the year you improved so much your work! It´s a real pleasure to watch you, ou all are lovely people! Take care of yourself, Kim,Jen and Miss Lou!

Happy 4 th of July ladies and thank you I enjoy watching your channel
It is like winter today in Scotland high winds and 4% it has rained every day for weeks forecast keeps telling us it’s going to be a scorcher and it never is it’s very disheartening not to get sunshine but I can understand why you don’t want to go out when the snakes are out and about .Stay safe ladies love your videos 😊❤
Happy 4th ladies! Hope you're sitting in the AC enjoying the day!
As someone from scandinavia I find the nature and structure and the diffrence quite facenateing,as always love the uncloggings stay safe

Glad you are staying safe from the heat!
I agree.. I'm in south Georgia and working hard in that oppressive summer heat can be dangerous. Safety first.

Great job! I couldn’t tell for sure but when that saw has a problem, please disconnect the battery when you are trying to clear an obstruction. Those little saws are every bit as dangerous as their bigger brothers. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Jen I love the exit camera recaps! Sometimes I miss the breakthroughs because I’m focused on what you and your mom are doing. Now I don’t miss anything. Keep up the good work and be careful out there. YOU TWO MAKE ME PROUD TO BE AN OKIE!

Stay safe with snakes, I like your safety first attitude. Now I know your filming schedule it makes sense why it doesn't look like summer over your way yet. Likewise. I see your summer in OK is kicking in and am guessing your hottest months are still coming. As a New Zealander I'm just trying to imagine someone in Australia doing the same work these ladies do during the Australian summer with your array of animal hazards - particularly with your elapids and crocs. Happy 4th!
Happy 4th of July!❤❤🇺🇸 Love seeing Lucy helping you two. Thanks for your great videos, keep them coming.....
Kim is a real go getter
Thanks for addressing the summer situation. I was thinking about this and I know for a fact how hot July and August is in the Midwest since visiting many years ago during this time of year 😅 looking forward to videos to watch during my upcoming vacation. All the best from the south part of Sweden 🇸🇪
Happy 4th of July 🎆🎇. Great work Miss Lucy,Kim and Jen !!! I really enjoy the videos !!!
Hello you two! I’m glad you’ve been putting content on stock pile for the our summer viewing❣️I’m comfortably inside as we’re having a hot spell, today 90 degrees. I’ve made different flavours of Keto ice cream this morning and about to add coconut sorbet to my stock. 😋 I had lunch watching you two and I was about to pop a piece of walnut in my mouth and when I saw Kim jumping on the log it literally missed my mouth! I found the chunk by the window, four feet away….😂 Btw Kim, you linger way too long on the slithery creatures! 🫣😝 Enjoy the summer…👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
I want to see the outflow after you have cleared a blockage! Stay safe during the summer months. You have temperatures I could only dream of! 60 f and people guys walk round with tops off here 😂 (honestly, 15 Celsius is warm if there’s no wind!)
Hi there, I’m watching from the UK, I love your videos, I make sure I watch every single video. Lucy is gorgeous and seems very well behaved. Keep the videos coming please but just be careful, we don’t want you getting injured and that all three of you. Stay safe please

Happy 4th of July ladies and what team work on getting that tree out of the way
Many years ago on honeymoon in Crete we had two paper maps; one from our hotel and one from the car hire company. The car hire company's showed a road through the mountains which was very rough, the hotel map showed it as a goat track!😄
You have truck, that log could be moved with a chain and rope.

@@markleonard-pe3os I agree. My dad always told me that waders can fill and drown you if you aren’t careful.
Jen ❤❤
Hi Jen and Kim Me and my cousin Tom had a thought when you can’t find a culvert bring a small can of spray paint to mark where they are with an arrow so you’ll know where to rake next time?
You need to have a strap or a chain in your truck to hook it to the truck and pull those off. And to keep the bugs away get some citrucel bands that go around your wrist, they go up to 300 hours of working time.
Be careful of snakes! I was geocaching in Alabama on a hot August day. Stopped at a waterfall, sat to relax on the rocks. After sometime sitting I put my elbows on my knees and looked down. Curled up was a sleeping rattlesnake maybe 2 inches from my feet. Ugh scariest moment I can recall. Safety first ladies! Thanks for identifying yourselves. Nice to meet you both and Lucy of course. Kim is so very strong! You make moving logs look so easy and we all know its NOT.

Good afternoon everyone hope you are having a good day. Greetings from ohio Happy 4th of July.
Those snakes are so well camouflaged, you are right to be putting your safety first. Thanks for putting the snake warnings up on the screen as well. Hate them. Stay safe.
great job, nice scenery. pity the snake un-nerved you a bit
hi, I wonder if you've considered putting a winch on the front of your truck? On some occasions, it might help with the really big logs/rootballs.

Jen here. I put a hitch on the back to potentially pull things out with a strap. We have considered a winch as well but haven’t committed yet. Any suggestions for a decent one?
HAPPY JULY 4!!!
try using a rope or strap when moving the big dead trunks, then try to pull it out of the way instead of pushing
I would love for you guys to keep a running total in the video of the time that there is a "lucy butt shot, the times that kim says be careful jen, ect".... it really gets funny hearing you two say stuff like that !!.... oh, and good reflex's Jen, cotton mouths are not something to mess with !!

Mom wrestled that limb off of that downed tree.😅
You made a comment about the nearest medical clinic was a half hour away. You should also familiarize yourself with the closest vet. If Miss Lucy should be bitten by a snake or cut by a rusty metal culvert, you'd want to go there quickly. After all, she is, in your own words ✨⭐'the star '⭐✨. Although you mentioned, in response to a text here, that you check the area before letting Miss Lucy out, but...then there WAS the sunbathing snake... Things do happen.

What if Kim or Jen bite the snake? They have to take it to the Vet?
Metal culverts retain suns heat which makes an ideal spot for snakes to keep warm. Stay away from hot culverts😂❤😊
11:22 There are people who put too much trust in GPS and mapping software that they'll drive into deep water because their guide said that the road is there. 😁 Mapping software isn't updated in real-time. Watch out for sticks - they could be a snake! 😬
Cottonmouths don't get this far north. We do get copperheads and rattlers, although I've never seen any. I think the big black snakes eat them.

Re doggo get her trained to avoid snakes. There are good people who can train dogs to avoid snakes. See if there are any such people around check with previous clients as to their success rate. As your Lucy is a ‘hunting’ dog her curiosity is high and can put her in danger. Sorry to put you in a bind, but where I live in Australia we have many snakes and I have friends who have had success with this training. Your girl has the brains to learn and understand. 😅
Excellent idea to take the hot, muggy months off.
It's July 4th God bless America God bless the troops that gave us our freedom ❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
Will a poisonous snake bite Lucy? Or for that matter, a cow in the fields??? Sorry for odd question.
@culvertsandmore

If she got bit we would haul butt to the nearest vet but just like with us it’s always a risk when we are out so far.
Just a question…aren’t you scared Lucy will get a snake bite?

Yes but it’s just part of the gig. We always do a look over the area before we let her out.

You girls should invest in a battery operated chain saw
I sure had to take a lot of bathroom breaks watching today (The loud sound of the running water did me in!!!) !!! LOL! It doesn't really matter when you do the work, but perhaps letting us know what time of year it is in your neck of the woods. I hope your 'neighbours' (Canadian spelling) appreciate all the work you do!!! I would if I lived anywhere near there. It was funny to hear your Mom's a screamer! LOL! Other than having a kinetic rope hooked to your truck or a pulley system to move the large logs, a heavy steel pole which you tuck underneath them and lift (That's why it's got to be a long one) to roll them out of your way. Just don't overdo it! Take good care!
It's July 4th and a random donkey?
If you would wear gloves you could get a better grip on the logs. Good job!
Jen,your a woman on a mission with that trunk 😅
all that blockage that is released flows down stream . Then gets jammed up somewhere else right

Pick up the trash!!!!!
@SlickBubbles
13 күн бұрын
It's not their responsibility; however, the usually DO pick up all the trash. They likely pick up more trash than we see on the videos. It's not a pleasant task. Working for my city. I spent weeks every Spring just picking up trask in the parks, of all places. People don't stop to consider how costly picking up litter and debris is. I once guestimated that it cost our city at least $5 million/yr for litter and debris picked up by the roads crews on roadsides and by the parks' crews in parks.
