Unclogging Culvert After Flooding Rain To Drain Flooded Roadway

I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

Plus you need to wear gloves Neoprene, and chest waders of Neoprene you can wear just a pair of shorts and socks, I use to work for a company that did docks and boat lifts and I am 6 ft 2 inches tall and those waders would come almost up to my neck, very comfortable easy to get off, but like every kind you can get holes in them, but use boot goop, that works great on any type of fabric of shoes or boots wet or dry. Quite a few places are going or were going through drought, same in Texas and then some are getting floods so it varies. We had a good downpour the end of June and then one small rain in August, and another several inches a few days after that - so it did get to soak in better because of the short rain. Had a house in the subdivision get struck by lightning, I think it got their electrical because they have to fix it all from building to interior. Good job on the clog.

Ya think you could find someone that would go with you and help you with this, a young girl of your age group, shouldn't be alone and don't be afraid to ask!! You seem like a very nice guy who enjoys doing this and going on walks everywhere.

I would do this too with the company of someone else, but I don't really have culverts where I live... (That's why I always want someone with because of safety and my generalized anxiety disorder...)

Postie you've probably heard this a thousand times but you really should wear gloves/better protective gear, especially in the damaged culverts. Better safe than sorry, even with countless hours of experience.

Thank you for another great video and imparting some of your knowledge of culvert placement and clearing them,Post. I hope you bring a change of clothes (or two) when you get that wet. (Or ditch your shirt so it is dry) Hope your vehicle survived those bumps.:-)

In some other unclogging you mentioned that it was dangerous for you to stand in front of the culvert especially with such volume of water…was this not the case here? Please stay safe and healthy and thank for sharing these videos. 🙏🙏

It's far worse if the culvert is under the surface because there's no air gap and it starts siphoning.
