Not only is her pitch perfect and her range unbelievable, but her diction and clarity is fantastic.

FYI I was told this song was written for a movie about a guy in prison and he is singing this song to his girl friend, asking if she was still mine.....time travels slowly in prison and he is expressing his love for her, and later picked up by the Righteous Brothers Bob Hatfield and made famous, supposibly it's been covered over 1500 times but Miss Lucy Thomas crushed this song, owns it, yes Lucy is the best most technical, pure clean, clear, full bodied voice with an incredible range !!! Play that song for your wife !!! Thanks for the react and this young Lady is on fire, she has 4 video's released from her LIVE concert in March plus this cover, lots to keep up with and her live songs were better than the original studio versions. she sang 17 songs and rocked the house with an encore of HALLELJAH. check em out !!! You ask how she is so good ??? natural singing ability plus she has worked her Butt off for 13 years with her singing coach Carolyn Hudson, thats how, and she is an honest singer no vocal gymnastics or set gymnastics just damn good singing !!!

This song was originally written for a prison movie. The lyrics were time moving slowly for the prisoners. As far as Lucy singing this song… just phenomenal!!!

I can respect your opinion in preferring Bobby Hatfield's cover, as this is a subjective judgement, but not your put down of Lucy as having just a 'nice voice'. By any yardstick, Lucy is a great vocalist, be it her near pitch perfect range, her breath control, her vibrato, her tonality, or her emotional performance, which draws supporters in and does not let go! It's a shame that you do not appear to be one of her supporters, as many consider Lucy to be the finest vocalist to emerge this century, and possibly the last century as well! BTW, I happen to think that Bobby Hatfield's 1965 live cover is the best male rendition of 'Unchained Melody' and I will not stop listening to his version, even though it has been nudged from my top spot by Lucy's rendition! 😊

Hi Travis. Glad to see you back with Lucy .What a beautiful rendition of this song and Lucy now owns this It has always been one of my favourite songs First heard it in the film Ghost. I have listened to many versions of this song and Lucy is in my opinion the best by a mile. Lucy just has a perfect beautiful voice and she just keeps getting better with every song she releases. You should listen to the releases from her live concert she is even better live. Her next concert is in Tokyo in Sept. and then the preview of her musical Rosie in London. YOU missed the setting of the origin of this song, written for a movie of a guy in prison, and time goes buy SLOWLY for a guy in prison pining for his girl !!! Lucy does what she does because she is so damn good !!!

Time in prison does indeed go slowly. This song was written for the 1955 film "Unchained" about a guy in prison who is hoping his love still loves him and will wait for him to get out. It is a very heart-rending song if you know the context. It was nominated for an Academy Award that year, but lost to "Love is a Many Splendored Thing".

The song was written about a guy in prison, that wanted to know if his love was still his. So yes, time does go slow for someone doing time.

briankrames Lucy in school did acting in 3 school plays, she has been exposed to acting, and she has just expanded it.

Travis (hope I remembered it), Your reaction is something else. In my case I describe my reaction as a "gut reaction". It strikes very deep and I can feel it in my chest. When Lucy hit the first powered "mine" you made an exclamation (kind of like whoa..) and put your hand to your mouth. There were others including when you grabbed your chest, along with other exclamations. Lucy can bring out WOW! (several times) in some people. But you looked like she really got to you. She does me that way too; chills and tears most of the time I listen to her.

The singer of this song is supposedly in prison. I imagine that if you were in prison missing your love time would be moving slowly.

I understand what you mean about time rushing by. I'm 75 and I can't believe it, along with being married for 43 years. In the context of the song though, it's about being seperated from the one you love. I remember back in 1967 I went 700 miles away to college in early September and wouldn't be home until Thanksgiving. That was a long time away from my girlfriend whom I was madly in love with. Trust me, time can definitely go very slowly. Even the flight home seemed to take forever with her waiting at the airport.

Because she has been brought on gradually!,she has also been intent on finishing her schooling & at just 20 yrs has time on her side,she has had a musical written around her 'Rosie' to be released early 25!,you need to look into Lucy's history to understand her journey so far!.😊

Well the way I see it after scanning so many reactors and what they play as request and in my opinion most of modern music is crap !!!! Most have to use all forms of vocal and set gymnastics, dress and appear scuzzy, long unkempt hair scruffy beards, tank tops and the women wild hair gobs of wild make up tattoes, piercings, revealing clothes, body parts hanging out and screaming and yelling, not singing !!!! they go for wild crazy sets lots of noise flashing lights and smoke, and most just cant sing !!! BUT this is what people have been programmed to accept this crap and Lucy does not do any of that, just sings her heart out with a to die for voice and she sings all the classic popular songs, and yes she is a beautiful young clean moral person. Her challenge is to convert the young to accept QUALITY over just plain noise and fluff.... Lucy pretty much has the older generations who value quality over crap "performances !!!!" I sincerely hope Lucy does not get drug into the crap crowd just for revenu income for the fan base and record companies profit !!!!

The original is by Todd duncan; from the movie " unchained 1955 " the guy is in prison so yes for him , time goes very slowly .

Why not consider a dedicated playlist for each female artist ; instead of lumped together in one ( outstanding ladies playlist .)

Lucy has NOT sold her soul to the music world for fame, and Lucy does not parade around 1/2 naked on stage, and Lucy is a better person than the swifty !!!

In this song, the meaning of "time goes by so slowly" means that when you love someone so much & are a long way from them (as in the service) time drags by while waiting to see them again. Time is relative; if time goes fast it means you're having a good life, but during hardship time goes very slowly; so i disagree with you on that and I am older than you for sure ☺ lovely voice this Lucy girl has though
