I love when nerf users find larp weapons

It's kind of a shame that only the katanas come with sheaths. Would have been really cool to have scabbards for the Templar blade and the Xcalibur. I wonder why they don't.

I agree with you about the swords they are beautiful and fun to use not only for combat but for practice as well. Since I have a sparkfoam katana I've been training with it day in and out

LordDragonical I recently bought one of these sparkfoam swords. I love it, if it wasn't for your review I probably would not have bought one. Thanks and keep up the foamsword reviews.

Hey Drac I was wondering what Nerf gun parts would you use to make a patience and time from destiny I was thinking to use a longstrike body and barrel but then the stock wouldn't look right and I don't know how I would get a different one on like the stock you used for the ice breaker Commission you did a while back. Ps the reason I would like to use the longstrike body is because I would like to have the cocking motion of a real sniper your would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.

these are the ideal foam swords, they are solid and firm, yet cheap and affordable, even the "fancy schmancy" katanas are only around $25-$30.

They are affordable yes, unless you live in Europe and the shipping price is a 100$ extra because of course it is.

These are actually pretty cool, I could definitely see people using these in film making

I can just imagine a huge war with these swords!

I can already see my friend using three of those katanas while cosplaying Roronoa Zoro. Also, site doesn't seem to feature sparkfoam katanas from what I dug into, but definitely a larp katana that i'd use (even for training if it's heavy enough)

I bought 2 of these. and they feel AMAZING to hold! I bought one with gold on it, and the x-guard one that drac had. it was 60$ total, but well worth it.

My son loves playing with those kind of swords! Really would love to let him try one of those!

Just for the record, a gladius is usually about half that length.

Cool swords, but as a Kendo practitioner, I can tell you right now, we wouldn't even remotely consider using these to practice anything but MAYBE kata (movements and form).

Could you try modding a revolver gun (eg hammershot, strongarm, spectre) to use the revolver drum thing like a clip/mag that you can remove and replace multiple for faster reload

the reason they are deliverd with a sheath (saya), is because it is an inportant part of most techniques.unlike european swords, the saya (and sword itself)are designed to be able to draw quickly and slash with a single motion.these techniques are easier to use, and more effective, with a saya than without

Wasn't an ulfberht XD but definitely a viking hersir style short sword, ulfberht have extremely specific traits that make it an ulfberht. Don't mean to sound bad by shutting you down like that but props to you. Not many know about the ulfberht :)

I bought a SPARK foam sword online for LARP purposes, as it was advertised as safe for it. The looks were great but and its a MASSIVE but. the foam and coating is no way on earth or any other planet safe to hit another person. These are great for I guess Cosplay or wall hanging, but I implore you unless you want bruising at the least, do not use them for combat.

are the blades on the "more expensive lookin" ones wobbly? i'd like to use these for a few costumes im doing

the last one seems more like a viking sword to me. but definitly not a roman gladius.

These look great and great suggestion for Kendo, I'd rather use one of these than a wooden one!

These looks sweet, although I can't seem to find the sparksteel katanas on the website, they only seem to be listing the westen swords.

BUMP!! Found them on Amazon a while back (an inevitability, I'm sure), and finally got around to purchasing one recently. Bought it on a Friday, and it had the nerve to show up four days ahead of the estimated arrival date. I got one with a black saya featuring a red string, a circular bronze tsuba with four corner indentations, and black eel skin covered by brown cloth wrap. I'll be keeping this one for the longest time. Thanks again for showing us these, Drac.

Maybe give one away for something random, and one for something like "best piece of fan mail". Just an idea.

I went on their website and into the Foam sections but didn't see any katanas. I found them in another section but they should be in foam.

I am a practitioner of me do and I would recommend E-bogu for most kendo needs. And as for HEMA I would say Purple Heart armories.

For all the csgo fanboys out there, that is not a csgo karambit... It's just a karambit.

You might actually be right, there are no single color red skins, the Crimson web has black, the ruby Doppler isn't full red, and the slaughter also isn't just one color.

@@andrewridon6128 Nah the Roman Gladius is waaaay shorter, has a more angular transition to the tip, the guard is more of a semi-circle that is barely wider than the blade, the grips have ridges and the pommel is larger and is typically a sphere or spheroid shape. This is more of the Viking or Anglo-Saxon style sword (which can be very similar to the Viking style, but also quite different depending on the sword). By the Jakobsson typology it is a Type Z Three-Lobed Pommel with a Type P Curved Guard. By the Wheeler typology its a Type VI. And by the Peterson typology its a Type S pommel with a Type P Guard. Whichever typology you go with... Its Viking Era. and not a style of sword found anywhere near Italy. I do HEMA so I'm a bit of a sword geek lol.

Ok, I am definitely getting one of these. As one trained in the sword art of Iaido, I am very familiar with a katana. On a side note, for anyone who cares, the official name for the wrap on a katana (or any Japanese sword, for that matter) is called a tsuka-ito, or sometimes just ito.

+Damon Fyrian Buy from Calimacil if you intend on stabbing. These swords more than likely do not have a kevlar tip, causing the carbon fibre rod top stab through the foam. I know this from 2 years experience in battle group (LARP but faster combat)

Varck Iaido is slashing, not stabbing. So not a problem. The way iaido works is that you draw the blade from the saya (the name of a katana sheath), dragging the edge of the blade against the saya to build up speed and power once it actually clears the end of it, increasing the damage and speed of the slash. If you're a fan of Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X, his god-speed battojutsu is iaido.

Damon Fyrian Yeah. With a Rapier it is more stabbing but you can also slash with it. You just have to know how to use it is all. Katana is way different however.

U and the draculina should do a battle with all kinds or foam weapons on hoverboards ,healys , and stuff like that in different places

HANG ON A SECOND! That 'Templar Sword' is also produced by a MUCH better company called Calimacil. They call it Godefroi II. I feel like this company has ripped off their design and made their own foam. Calimacil is far better as they have a kevlar tip inside for safe stabbing. Not only that but their foam is of higher quality. You get all that for a reasonable price.

Does the link also go to the stronger stand alone swords that you got?
