*WE ARE NOW LIVE ON KICKSTARTER!!!* www.kickstarter.com/projects/micronics3d/micron-a-desktop-sls-3d-printer *We are coming to Open Sauce!* We are sponsoring Open Sauce and will be exhibiting at booth *A10.10* Come visit us to see Micron printing, play with our slicer in-person, and see all the cool test parts (and glitched parts) we have printed! *We have a launch date!* Kickstarter going live on *June 13th at 12:00pm CDT* , link here to follow the campaign > www.kickstarter.com/projects/micronics3d/micron-a-desktop-sls-3d-printer What to expect: - Pledges for the printer will be starting at $2999 for the Super Early Birds, but the quantity will be very limited so better mark your calendars   - Printing material and additional build chambers will be available as add-ons. Of course if you are not ready, you can also show your support by pledging T-shirt tier. - We want to take our time to make sure everything is built right and don't want to over-promise, so we are listing a conservative shipping date that's starting in April 2025 to account for Murphy's law. *Printer Reviews on The Way!* We have sent beta test units of our printers to KZread content creators and they will have videos on the printer coming. The printers that we sent out were the first batch of beta units we have ever built, so they were a functional but little rough on the edges. What to expect: - Overall speaking, most creators were able to get the printer to work properly - some we have had to get on a call or two and send out replacements parts to sort a few issues while some were smooth sailing all the way. - Most of the issues they have encountered were due to manufacturing variances (hence the variances in their experiences), and will of course be sorted out for the production machines. - The biggest issue by far is our FDM printed sift bin cracking along the layer lines and making a mess. We will switch to a different manufacturing method like RIM or add reinforcements like sheet metal inserts for the production versions. Guess we are doing SLS for a good reason eh? That's why we say we will take our time so we can run a second run of pre-production machines (in parallel with spinning up the production line) and make sure everything is *perfect* on the production machines.

I'm not yet in the market for SLS -- I'm more of a resin-head... but I'm so happy you all exist and are working to drive down the prices so aggressively. It fills me with hope that SLS will come down to the price of a high-end FDM printer some day, and make it a no-brainer to snag one for the shop :). Thank you for all your hard work!

Holy crap I really appreciate the way you guys are going about this product! No marketing BS, just showing us what you designed, how to use it, and printing stuff on it. And it looks like you're having a pretty open approach about the design and not trying to lock it down airtight. This is so great to see in the consumer space!
Wow...... finally accessible sls for the hobbyist! Thank you so much for working on this and providing it to the community
This is incredible. The thought that you’ve put into its design, the extractor coming as standard. I’m so excited for the future of printing. This is a tad out of my price range at the moment, but I can’t wait! I would love to see print comparisons to resin and FDM parts.
Do not touch the lamps with your fingers!!! The grease from your skin will burn onto the lamp and eventually cause it to cease.
this is probably the one tech product ive been most excited about since the Valve Index, this is cool as heck!

Got a few Q's for designy bits that don't immediately make sense. - Why must the lamps match up with their slots? If they aren't all the same, why not? 0:54 - Why does the glass plate need to be aligned with the triangle? It looks square, so it should be the same on all sides? 4:16 - Why do you need to top off the sift bin after the print is done, just to sift it out again? 5:42

1. Lamps all have slightly different output power and are calibrated. If you put it in the wrong socket, one side of the build area will get hotter than the other. 2. The baffle pattern is not symmetrical 3. So you can refill the print chamber.
My small business needs this!

I like the convenience of the sifting box for mixing and depowdering, thays clever. You might want to consider using a low cost grow tent with the extractor fan to make a better fume hood. Im skeptical that makeshift fan extraction will actually keep things clean given my experience working with powders and fume hoods in the past. Interested in learning more though!
this is so dope
My god, yall really found a way to make what is basically advertising be exciting.
Pretty cool - is the Kickstarter going to be more of a traditional Kickstarter where the money is used for production and it takes a few years, or is it more of a 'preorder' kind of Kickstarter where you already have production lined up and the printer would probably ship even as early as this year?

Honestly compared to resin printers this is pretty simple
You should 3d print a spout for that jug of nylon powder to lower the amount of dust from pouring it.
Can you show some examples of really high resolution/detail prints?
You just BLEW my mind using the lid to open the bottle of powder
@nakleh
2 ай бұрын
I do that with my coffee creamer :)
man the amount of things i would make for my car using this printer is insane.
How much does the powder weigh, per 5.3L container. Just trying to assess how expensive this printer will be to run compared to fdm.
I'd love to see how the resolution fairs for these parts, could we get an example done for a medium size mini? Resin SLA currently dominates the tabletop scene and I'd gladly pay $2999 just to not have to deal with resin.
This is a very clever printer. I'm looking forward to the prices coming down for the average person. Never touch those lamps with bare hands. I'm shocked the instructions didn't tell you to wear gloves or include gloves. Excellent video.
Amazing machine! How long before we will see a low cost version of it printing with any metal powder? Is that just a matter of settings and a stronger laser? Does metal also need pre heating? Will we see HDPC and Nylon pre mixed with graphene (FLG) and or carbon fibre strands? And is there a plan for the propriety parts you developed to come down in price, and release a kit for a max of $1000-$1500? Also how do you remove powder from a fully closed part like eg. a football? Or sneakers that need air pockets?
❤ great achievement! Could you please post a video on sandblasting? What a small suitable equipment would be. Time vs tolerance if possible. Thank you and good business!
wish you the best
This is absolutely brilliant, I wish I could afford one. I had my eyes on those for so many years and making them my one day goal. I wonder what is the real life cost of printing tabletop miniatures for gaming and terrain. I rather use that tech instead of resin printer.
Awesome I’m really excited about this price point. Does the printer print any faster? For the number of layers on that first print it seemed a little slow.
respect
Great machine, I´ve so exited with the "home" sls printer. I have a question about the security system for avoid an dust explosion, i mean that the industrials solution use nitrogen for replace de oxigen inside de machine, how do you solve it in your machine?
@accumall3027
Ай бұрын
SLS was never made for home... . seems there is no extra security design.
I recommend including in the instructions to wear rubber gloves when replacing those halogen heating lamps, they tend to burn up rather quickly if the oils and dirt on your hands get on them.
Yeh very excited by this, sub 3k for an SLS is incredible. Great work
This is nothing short of incredible for a first of its kind commercial products. Sure, there are visible shortcomings (I'm thinking of the dust extractor and the "fume hood" made with the glass plate), but that's nitpicking. This is a damn SLS printer that's accessible to makre spaces and consumers. I tip you my hat.
Will there also be some metal powder?
Very impressive! After the Kickstarter is complete, how soon will this printer be shipping?
SUPER cool, but wow…. So much work to start and stop a print. I guess this really is more suited towards printing lots of stuff in batches!
The dust extractor being used at each powder-pouring step is a smart use of resources. But perching it on the sifter looks really precarious. I'm sure you've tested it (probably to destruction) and made sure it's a safe and secure load... but oh boy does it make me nervous. Especially with the glass bed added!

If you drop it we are happy to sell you a replacement 😉😉
So it took 1h for this tiny part whereby it is consuming 500w? Thats half a kWh😮 As for now you can print PA12 at JLCPCB for 2€/g (the powder alone is 1€/g at microns site). Downside is, they only print PA12 which has a pretty low E module. I am really excited about Microns success with this machine and am hoping for a new trend of consumer SLS printers
Question for setup - should those heat lamp bulbs be handled bare-handed? I ask because certain bulb types react poorly over time to skin oils and such on their surface.
This is so cool, I wish I had this money to drop on a printer but it is literally a years tuition at my uni but I'm hoping it will drop the price of the industrial setups
This might’ve urban legend but for all HOT burning lamp, you need to NOT leave your oily finger print on the bulb. Use a tissue to hold the bulb for installation.
wonder if itll be open source so we can contribute to firmware and UI changes
