It's good thing but at the same time open source project if you lot more manufacturers involved. They demand more innovation to sell more product it become sort of pressure . You have to do new thing before maturing old. If you stop doing that and after few release you see that your products depends on manufacturers who are not willing to produce due to profit/ business things. It's slippery slope.

you do realise these boards are made by BTT. it's 1 big commie party over there. Personally, i never had issues with the BTT boards and ye i also heard admins are deleting posts in the FB group but im in it cuz... fck facebook. I also got a full refund on the SKR2 board 3 days after i received the board. so basically a free board if you fix it yourself. but the feature they added is useless anyways. I also ordered the Octopus of BTT (apparently its on pre-order now) , its a board like this Spider but way better. 8 PWM controlled fan ports (with jumpters 5 to 24v). 4 hot-end heater outputs expansion board port (like the latest duet), motor power in so you can run the motors at 35v if you want. power in (boarD) power in (bed) en power out (bed). Yes but ... RRF will not be supported on this board. STM32F446 MCU has not enough Flash for that (There is only 512kb flash and them STM32 current builds of RRF are larger than that). They plan to release another board using STM32F407VG especially for RRF but it seems weird because this MCU will NOT be supported either because there is no SPI2 bus needed for the Wifi/SBC. I tried to question them about that from aliexpress, I just got as answer "I don't know much about it. I am not an engineer". I suggested to forward my message to them or tell me how to contact them but just got a "ok thank you" ... :-) Maybe they plan to build they own version of RRF by cutting down some functionnalities but it would be odd and not really nice IMO. They could use an STM32F407ZG (like the one used byt Fly F407ZG board) but the reason they went to STM32F407VG is because it's pin compatible to the STM32F446VE so they don't have to make 2 differents board that way ...

if it had a network interface like wifi, could we do away with the Rasp-pi altogether?

While possible, it wouldn't make much sense. The pi handles all the intense computations and planning and moving that BACK onto the microcontroller would defeat the purpose of Klipper.

Yeah you can use it everywhere, its just a generic control board. but this one is little bit moar focused on the voron. you can also smack a duet in a voron or a SKR GTR or SKR Pro in it or in other stuff.

Well, so far BTT has been kinda dropping the ball in regards to QC and boards having issues, look at the SKR2 issues popping up now for example. Really though biggest difference between the 2 boards (on paper) is the features and options they each support
