Richard! I am so excited to see this.. and from here today, I learned there is a Frazetta museum here in Florida just 3 hours away and they only have a 2-3 month window of being open and that window is now, though closing March 8 or 9 2023. I reached out by email, super nice response on chat with Sara and all I have to do now is make it happen and I'm going there this coming week! So happy I saw this slightly old post of this book opening because I so enjoyed the book and your enjoyment was infectious and then I searched for the book on line and discovered the museum here and plan to go! What a lovely set of coincidences, thank you for all you do, you are awesome!

yeah I mean. The Frazetta family really respects Frank. I mean losing the patriarch of their family I think sent them all in a tailspin at first. But they worked through all that and understand how special Frank was and how important it is to handle his art respectfully and make sure each future generation has the opportunity to not only enjoy it and experience it but be inspired by it. I told Sara (his granddaughter) that even I feel that responsibility as a fan sharing this work for other fans or people just discovering Franks work.

Gonna have to save up for this, I picked up the fantastic paintings of Frazetta some time back.

I had the book of frazetta's art about 40 years ago. bummer I don't still have it. I probably paid around 10 bucks for it.

Okay your excitement got my excitement into party mode , half way through your vid my hand reached out grabbed my card and I ordered a copy from Germany . Excited to receive it. I am tempted to buy two and hold one intact for my collection. I usually buy two. Years ago I bought an original drawing caveman from Frank . It cost me a fair bit and I’ve never seen it printed or anywhere else. ( I only bought one of those 😂) I have all his books and must have seen all his work but your excitement sold me on this .

nice. Trust me. I do the same thing...it's genuine excitement. This book is mind-blowing and I think probably the best Frazetta book we will get. (and I have a lot of Frazetta books and love them all) but this is kind of the one we've been waiting for...and the others are nice supplements to this beast!

I'm twitching at the sight of this, but I guess I need to see more of the contents before I pull the trigger. I have multiple copies of almost everything you showed, and it's not that important for me to be able to see much of it at a molecular level. There's always the chance that Taschen will eventually put out a smaller-sized version as they did with some other art books like the Crumb and Giger books I picked up. Those opening panels are from Frank's incomplete story for EC's Shock Illustrated, one of their "Picto-Fiction" magazines. Cochran reprinted it in the recently re-released hardcover archive edition and it's really valuable; you get to see panels that are pencilled, partly or fully inked. His 50's pencils look like paintings. The Frazetta Museum sells a portfolio of all of the surviving art for the story.

Interesting info on the EC stuff..I agree his comic work from the 50's are Absolutely Stunning! on every level!..even his unfinished work is on another level to me..I gota get to that museum soon!

Yeah, same for me..want the book but, i pretty much have everything already so I'd be buying this for the sizevand not much else. Also, most of the incomplete "Came the Dawn" story was also published in one of the Spurlock books.

I have this book one week. This book is so big and heavy. Quality is awesome only some paintings are with too much big black border around picture. Especially silver warrior is very small. Ink drawings looks beautiful in this size. Every line is nice visible.

It probably will be awhile for I can actually afford a copy so I'm really thankfull u showed this bad boy off!! (Btw how much was the retail price?!?)..Frazetta Really was an Amazing Artist & So Awsome New generation get to see his genius with this new book!! & Also on side note Thanks for the Jason Pearson Video!! & Tribute!! thanks so much. I really appreciate it. I got it for around $150 I think but I believe there was a flash sale a few months back. It seems to be around $180-200. Like I said in some other replies...this isn't a typical art book by Taschen. It's more like an artist edition...so it's scans off the original art, high res photos of the original paintings...so for books like that (at this size 11.5X15.5 approx) those books will generally be about $150 for 140 pages of art. This is 468 pages...so I mean the value for what you are getting is very fair. Hope that helps!

@@knowgo411 I totally understand. I could not afford this either. I was selling some art, to live and just cover basic bills and just went...ok shit. I don't want this to sell out. Just get it and work a little harder, spend a little less on other stuff and get something you will love. But trust me. I am not flush with cash where I can just throw it around on stuff..I live almost the opposite of that. The only reason I have cool shit is I've been into comics so long...so I slowly got a good collection. it would almost be weird to just go. Oh yeah 5 new $100 books are solicited. I'll buy them all. That's never been a reality for me! I'm trying to figure out right now, how to save up for the Kevin Nowlan and Michael Golden artist editions that are going to drop in a month or two (artist editions from IDW) I really love both artists and want to get them both@!

Good news is I will be get'n Xtra from taxes this year & will have enough to splurge on sum goodies for myself & The Frazetta book will be 1st on the list!!..& Rich I'm looking forward to the Release of ur Project aswell!!..(if u haven't Release anything yet!?) Rich I love this! Thank you for sharing! i have passed this on to my family as a gift idea. hopefully they don't wait tooo long. The way i see it you are getting amazing art images for less than .50 a page! if you were to sum up the price of these pieces at print prices it would be so much more. Serious value! FYI i purchased the John Paul Leon Wintermen Artist edition when it was original crowd funded. If you like i would be happy to take a video of it and share with you. It is amazing!

I was checking out Zoop today funny enough. I'll talk more about it soon. and yeah I see some complaining about the price but as I have said....this isn't a normal Taschen book that you might have that are big and beautiful on their own...but there's a reason they are $27 on e bay or $60. This is basically an artist edition with other content...it's HUGE, it's almost 500 pages...an artist edition is basically $1 per page most are around $120-150 for about 140 pages of art...so for $200 we'll say you get 468 pages of Frazetta in about as HIGH resolution s I have ever seen for sure for his full body of work. Sara and I talked briefly and she said the prints at this quality are $200 for a single piece. So I understand the book is expensive but I also (and I am saying this 100% as a consumer and fan) I didn't find it unreasonable at all. Of course $200 is a LOT and I was like...oh man. I can't afford this right now. (not kidding you know I don't lie or exaggerate) but I also thought. Ok Frank is probably the guy I would do this for. I will never get bored of this book and there's always something I can learn from it...to me that is priceless.

I got this book on Friday. It's so awesome. It's hard to hold on your lap to look through it. I took the dust jacket off when looking through it, too LOL. I didn't know he did Battlestar Galactica work until I saw it in this book.

well I pre-ordered so it was a few months ago. But the book is shipping now so I think for you it should be quite quick!

I went to order it and it showed the price at $150, clicked to order it said 'error please reload', which I did and now it says $200. 😒

Well that might have been a pre-order deal at the time. I ordered mine about 2 months ago. I look at it like this. An artist edition costs around $150 and those are about 140 pages with some barely creeping up to around 200 pages. (not just referring to the IDW books but any "original art" collections at that size. (scanned off the originals) This book is 468 pages and all this art is shot off the original Frazetta pieces which are spread out all over the world...so for the size and challenge of collecting a book like this $200 is really not that bad and honestly a better deal than most artist edition style books bought new.

I'm not buying that book. I have too much crap already. But I'm glad the writer mentioned the hell's angel's right away. Frank was the first modern artist that was granted respect by those lovers of the Renaissance and mideveval artist I grew up astounded by. Especially since Sunny died a few months ago and he and the Oakland chapter of the Angel's were right down the street. And i used to admire some of the paint jobs of Frank's paintings on some of the bikes gas tanks.Great job Rick 👏

I actually received my Vampirella #7 back from CGC not too long ago. The classic ‘Witch Woman’ cover of Frank’s - one of my favorites of his. I grew up in central Florida and apparently I didn’t realize until recently Frank was living out his retirement in Ft Myers not far away from where I was at. It’s a shame I don’t think he ever did a Mega-con during those years I was growing up in the 90s.
