emperor hordak makes for a glorious showpiece for sure, i think what they REALLY nailed here is the color scheme and the outfit is spot on! but yeah, that said aj, i agree w/ u, they could have tossed in a second noggin with a scowl, showing off his lovely blood red teeth. usually, i'm one to go for a more neutral pose for my figure's faces but c'mon....this is the one and only HORDAK we're talking about here, his neutral face looks a little too....calm? docile? he's a cutthroat, intergalactic conquistador for crying out loud! 😂 a second, more fearsome face would have been the cheery on top of a great representation of hordak. also, u're right about the slimness of his face too, aj. he looks a little on the slender side, there. his face is a bit long, it's giving me flashbacks to wave 30 battle armor he-man, remember w/ the long jaw? lol the fact he's got so much unmovable armor built around him means he's got a little less articulation than what we've come to expect of modern masterverse, but all in all, i have to say i really like this hordak. he's still got far more articulation than the four horsemen 200x hordak figure, remember that aj? the "statue figure" hordak released after the end of the 200x run. ♡

Great looking figure. His battles version will coming next for sure.

Here's something me and someone else wrote on TV Tropes. Hordak has already proven himself to be a horrible boss with his nanomachines assimilation scheme, but imagine what Horde Prime is going to do to him for his failure once he's restored to full health. Even if Hordak isn't outright punished, do you really think Horde Prime is going to let him get off scot-free for letting himself be defeated by Skeletor and losing control over the Horde Army?

Any word on when the Horde Trooper will become available?

Good question! What are those things on his chin? 😊 Great review. The figure looks really nice but it needed more articulation.

I can definitely see where you're coming from in regards to the articulation. So happy you enjoyed it!

I was really tempted to get this one. But seeing how the final product is - limited articulation, the hard plastic hood, the cumbersome armor, the cape and clothes being non-removable, making him super difficult to alter/customize... I think I'll have to pass. Maybe we'll get some cool alternate New Eternia version of Hordak at some point

Yeah, I totally understand where you're coming from. This Emperor figure is one of those figures you just stand ND admire. Set and forget. A New Eternia Hordak? Yes please!!!

Great review and glad you enjoyed Hordak. I got the Leech and Syklone from this wave, Syklone's easily a top 10 Masterverse figure for me and Leech being a massive disappointment other than a solid head sculpt. He's tiny, very plastic-y and doesn't come with any extra hands beyond the hard plastic suction cup hands he comes with.

Hey, AJ, if you've read the Revelation prequel comics, you'll notice that Hordak almost looks nothing like he does in Revolution. 1. He looked a lot more lean and less heavytop; his face and the spikes on his head were white compared to Revolution's brown; his ears were more triangular; he also lacked the pupils he has in Revolution. 2. This also applies to his classic outfit. In the prequel comics, the segments of his cowl and sleeves were silver (with a red jewel for the cowl), his chestplate was more segmented, and it had red accents, and his boots were more armored 3. In Revolution, the cowl (which has no jewel and is more pointed and angular) and sleeve segments are black, his chestplate has no segments or red accents, and his boots look more cloth-like. 4. This also applies to the Horde's symbol. In the prequel comics and Revelation, the wings were more bat-like and the face only vaguely resembled Hordak's, overall resembling the classic symbol. In Revolution, the wings are more sharp and angular and the face resembles Hordak's more prominently. 5. Hordak can seen wearing the former symbol on his regal attire when not in battle.

I did notice that! I just chalk it up to the animation model for Hordak not created yet at the time of the prequel comics execution. I was informed that each powerhouse animation model conception and design is an expense and wouldn't have been explored at the time of Revelation. Thankfully they got a sequel greenlit though allowing them to finally realize their Hordak. 🙂

Hordak is anything but an Emperor. He may be regarded as the ruler and overlord, but in reality, he's only the public face and field leader of the Horde Empire while Horde Prime is the true founder and leader from the shadows, and at the end of the day, is no doubt the much greater threat than Hordak is.

This is a brand new continuity though allowing characters to be redefined in exciting new ways! Hopefully we will learn a lot more about this Hordak when the Revolution prequel comics come out this May. 🙂

I thought this wave was supposed to come out on June? There's something odd about this Hordak...he looks ...not so intimidating

Hordak walks into a bar & the bartender says "Why the long face?" This figure is a massive disappointment. Something is really "off" about it. Very boring. I'm not buying it. I'll put the money towards a different figure.

All that armor and can't move hardly at all and yet Mattel gives him double jointed elbows! Yet Mattel couldn't do that for King Keldor or Masterverse Snout Spout! Lame and lazy @mattel!!
