I have a first label, factory sample stickered Love Me Do with JR stampers on both sides in an URGENT Top Pop sleeve...definitely the closest I’ll ever come to owning one of these beautiful true demos! Just amazing.
Now, are you going to rip this in high res 192k & offer it up? It’ll easily beat the vinyl transfer that EMI used since the 80’s!
OMG I used to visit an amazing 2nd hand record shop in the Old Kent Road SE London UK during the late 60’s and 70’s and used to see theses demo 45’s all the time, usually I just ignored them as I thought the sound quality wouldn’t be as good as the proper release

That's an absolute beauty! I thought I had something special when I found out I had a first US stereo pressing of rubber soul but this trumps that! Mind you I'm only 16 so I have plenty of time to work my way up
The US 45 of “Love Me Do” was on Vee-Jay’s sister label, Tollie.
Wow, one of 250 (who knows how many left) lucky someone 😀
Looks absolutely gorgeous and the original sleeve is fantastic. Love your vids. Stay safe

Thanks Steve, you too.
It looks so clean. Absolutely beautiful condition.
my mother in law has this exact record. Owned it since 62'. Amazing to see how valuable it is
Stunning! Thanks for sharing Andrew..
That’s a pearler Andy. You could see the condition even as you unveiled it to us. Funnily enough I took a call when I used to do a show for BBC radio Cambridge regarding record valuations about a Love Me Do demo without a middle (all this was very early days of EBay) and after giving an on-air valuation he rang me at my shop offering it to me for the figure I had quoted at the time. He or she (I can’t remember now) didn’t seem to get that as a dealer I couldn’t pay the price of its “worth” as I would have needed to make a profit on it too , so it didn’t go ahead ....wonder if it’s the same copy? I also once stumbled upon someone selling junk early 60’s 45’s in those “Rush copy” sleeves, they weren’t demo’s themselves just misplaced 45’s into the wrong sleeves and I ended up buying a load of them for not much £££,s from the same person

Great story, Dai. It could be the same one, who knows. Only a reported 250 were pressed. I have fond memories of BBC Radio Cambs. I used to help out there on Sunday afternoons mid-80’s with Jo Bunting & Chris Morris.
I new what was under that cover soon as you started talking every beatles collectors dream
I've been a DJ for many years playing 60s, I would always start the night with love me do, to tune my treble and base settings, wish I had the demo
Great video... And a great rare promo label as well... I am always fond of those white promo labels...

These EMI promo 45's are difficult to find. Tamla Motown also did put out promo 45's with the bid red "A" as the hit side, and then the plain white label on the flip.
I'm shocked someone would stick that in the mail...😝 in the most minimalistic packaging available.

Indeed. I've had a single 7" that has come to me in two polylined inner sleeves, plastic sleeve, outer sleeve separate, then all put in a 12" plastic sleeve, between two 12" cardboard spacers, packed in a mailer made for a 12" double or triple album box!

Wow! That’s beautiful!
Be careful with that knife, Eugene
"McArtney"....heh heh.
Good stuff! Thank you
That is a beautiful item!
Very cool! Little did they know, when the record was pressed, exactly how valuable it would be 60 years later.
Sir you are lucky to have a rare gem.
WOW CLEAN
Not as rare as the few that came with a photo, letter to the disc jockey & introduction to the band, who else dropped their cup of tea when the knife went in 😳

With a clean copy of the promo sleeves for the Love Me Do and Please Please Me singles, easy label ideas for a PPM remix for the singles in remastered analog mono + separated new stereo mixes.
Let the bidding begin! 😁😁😁
Wow...a true collectable. Out of most people's price range but it's fantastic to be able to view it on your channel. Thank you for this wonderful content. Mark Anthony K Projekt Gemineye
Hi Andrew, if you ever do a follow up video about these demos I’d be interested to know how many were made, how many still exist and other than the label, what’s the difference between the demo and the regular single.
I wish you could play some of these. Copyrights, like the poor, shall always be with us. By the way, that advert for Lay's potato chips was a riot!
The big "A" was so the DJ's would know what side of the record they were to play.
I wonder if a restoration service could re-attach the center hub.

Wouldn't increase the value.
What is the reason of the 1/4-inch hole drilled in the paper portion of some Beatle 45's? I assume it was the record version of cutting off a books dust jacket price information. ie. to prevent resale. A friend has a rare red label Love Me Do 45 with that condition issue -- I assume that ruins the value albeit not the sound quality.

My uncle was a northern soul dj and once told me it was a practice that avoided certain import charge as it was deemed defective goods, he also told me a lot of crap too so it's 50/50 lol
Ding..."So, you have a record for me?"..."Yes, sir, I do..."
Looks like it was in a juke box, lucky they kept that middle...
So what happened did it sell? Am sure one could use an adapter to play it made sense to use the gloves good thinking!

I was wondering, why does the demo credit 'Lennon McArtney' (or correctly 'McCartney')... but the released version was credited too 'McCartney Lennon'? Was it obvious that 'Lennon McCartney' would be the writing credit that had the best name? Or did they change their minds after the release of 'From me to you/Thank you girl' and Switched to 'Lennon McCartney' from 'With the Beatles' and onwards? I know Paul once made the comment that the OG plan was to swap credits between albums but 'Lennon McCartney' just stuck. It still made me question why the 'Love me do' demo would be credited differently. Also I'm not sure how trust worthy that account was, or if Paul simply remembered wrong.

Love Me Do was credited Lennon/McCartney when the single came out. It was only switched to McCartney/Lennon with Please Please Me.

@@TheBeanolad Thanks, do you know if it was for the UK and US version, or for the UK version only? As my reproduction copy of the US version has McCartney-Lennon credited.
@TheBeanolad

@@keatonluttrell2487 When the Please Please Me album was released in March 1963, Love Me Do was credited McCartney/Lennon like the other new songs, and was released as McCartney/Lennon all over the world (incl. the US in April 1964) until 1973 when it reverted to Lennon/McCartney on the red album 1962-66. Bit of a muddle. Further to the confusion, the original Parlophone single featured Ringo on drums but Andy White is on the LPs and the US single.

@@TheBeanolad Thanks! Yes, it is confusing about how some single versions and the album version is the Andy white version and the original is Ringo, but as long as you can hear the tambourine and the difference in bass tone, it’s simple enough to distinguish. Cheers!
Is this the Ringo or Andy White version ?
@Parlogram

The Ringo version.
The UK pressings with the "Removable" middle piece always intreague me as I don't have any 45's in my collection like that I have 99% large hole and a few with Small hole (but not removable) across all artists in my collection and the small hole ones always annoy me because I'll be on a listening spree and I have my Table set up just nice for 45's with my adaptor all in place etc and then I have to remove it for a small hole one which is inconvenient.

all discs pressed at EMI are solid label to begin with .. then they go through a cutting machine to create the centre suspended by the spokes or prongs as folks say. I have never seen EMI pressed demo with a solid centre.. except curiously MGM Verve which have labels stuck onto white labels, Mothers being a case in point.
By how much would the knocked out center hub devalue the record?

£5,870 GBP ($7,450) to be exact.
Amazing record, but shockingly-lax packing job. That should have been boxed.
But they're worth money
Akshully, Pawl McArtney WAS the original ‘Paul.’ He was involved in a terrible accident as he left the studio after this recording (He blew his mind out in a car, he didn’t notice that the lights had changed). Anyway, a young man named Williams Shears was recruited to ‘replace’ him as they looked near identical. As an inside nod to the switch; they called him ‘Paul McCartney’ and chalked up this credit to a typo. Sixties were strange man‼️
You only get two songs on this record, what a RIP off.
