Very special. Gorgeous watch. Got to love quartz watches. Love the accuracy and the reliability of the quartz movement. Trust me when I say it will outlast the mechanical watches. I am old enough to see that.

It's amazing. Let's not be snobs and appreciate quartz watches too. The idea, spirit, tradition. I love automatic movements but what I like even more is originality. Quartz or mechanical, both can be great.

Love the watch. If you like it wear it. A friend gave me a Mondaine quartz pocket watch for my birthday some 20 years ago. I love it. I don’t wear it but I look at it from time to time. I love the red back on your watch. Very cool ring my brother. Thank you and keep up the good work.

It´s a fun watch to wear! More under the radar but still quirky and fun nonetheless! The ring is custom made by AHWStudio in Sydney :). He´s got some cool stuff to check out for us watch geeks :)

Great video, nicely shot too! Mondaine is my all-time favorite watch brand, having been a big railway geek since early childhood and all :D I only own one watch and one clock at the moment but I'm definitely working on expanding my collection. :-)

On the surface, looks like a plain quartz, but when you're in the know, you're in the know. With all those quirky features, definitely a keeper. Also, most certainly the Alain Silberstein Luis Erard up next. Another super cool piece.

I have two of them, one white faced and the all black quartz. They are very accurate and a lot of people like them on my wrist. I like them a lot too. They are my "beater" watches but still look better than a regular watch of the same price point. They remind me of the last time I was in Switzerland. Good memories.

Beautiful design, love that 58 second feature. I would be playing around setting the time all the time. Another cool Swiss watch at a similar price is the victorinox inox, not quite as iconic as the mondaine railway design or swatch, but in the same category I feel.

@@SwissWatchGang I might have been mistaken. When I was looking a couple of years ago I saw both a quartz and automatic version of the Railway Watch. There was also a Stop2Go at about the same price or more than the automatic so I assumed it was an automatic. But then I've noticed that Mondaine has severely reduced their choices since back then. So maybe they're scaling down due to the recent economic downturn and it turned out to be a limited release watch.

@@springinfialta106 I think there never was a automatic Stop2Go model since mechanically achieving this feature would make the watch much more expensive. The Stop2Go is more expensive than some automatic models though so yes might´ve looked like that. Haven´t found anything online so we´ll just go based off of that for now. :)

This is a classic of the future and it's superb! I don't have it but have got a regular quartz 40mm version. I have looked into Mondaine watches before but never quite got to a purchase until recently. The stop 2 go is the one I should have got but I don't see it available from Mondaine Web site and have read its discontinued, so not sure why unless it was a poor seller but I would have thought the Swiss would have jumped at it ?

So beautiful. Unfortunately I was not able to get this one but I did get a evo2 for my birthday.

I like the basic 5600, though I have a 5610 and a GW-S 5600 as well. The basic 5600 shows the current time in the stopwatch and timer, but the more sophisticated modules (like the 3159) show the hours in stopwatch time and the beginning time in the countdown timer. Careful, G shocks can be addicting.

Honestly, the movement captivated me to such an extent that I was able to ultimately break the grips of a long time sexual addiction I had (i.e. compulsive public exhibitionism.) I think this watch is not only my best buy and conversation piece, but a breaker for evil compulsions and evil spirit posessions

Quartz is cool too - as you're aware, I own a quartz Victorinox, and I'm very pleased with it. I think you should do more quartz watches under two conditions - firstly, if you're going Swiss, I suggest that you either go high - end, or if you're going low end, go for something iconic like the Mondaine/my Victorinox. If you're going Japanese, you should check out the GS 9F series, the Citizen Chronomaster, and the Seiko Kinetic line of watches.

I really like how unique it is. I would consider it if it were mechanical and had a date.

Is this this the only Stop2go Watch of Mondaine and where to buy it?

So, after 3 years. How long does the battery last?

I generally don't like anything to do with quartz movements. However, a few have made it through my filter. This is one of them. I've had issues with the second hand failing to move. There's a reset function to align the second hand, which gets it moving again. I have replaced the battery and it seemed to solve the problem, but it recently started up again. Maybe I have old batteries..or a defective watch? Regardless, I do like this watch very much for several reasons not mentioned.. The second hand clicks 4 times per second. So it looks like an automatic low beat. It comes on a black or red band, but I have it on a vintage inspired red nato that looks absolutely stunning with this watch. I heard somewhere this actually has two movements in it, one for the second hand and the other for the hour and minute. A quartz watch can find its way into my collection if it is very unique..this one fits the bill...now if I can only get it moving consistently again!

Yea I think so too. I don't know, a mechanical movement would have to have extra parts that would stop the seconds hand and then start it again so it wouldn't be cheap for sure :D

I almost bought one of these but the 3m water resistance is a deal breaker for me. Love the look though!

It's on the backside of the hands but when I am driving and go into a tunnel I can see it pretty well nontheless.

Mondaine could make lots of money if they make a radio controlled stop2go wall clock with a smooth sweeping second hand

You may wish to know that these watches are very sensitive to the battery voltage. When it is low the second hand will not continue to stop at 12 it will tend to stop at various positions anti-clock wise. It is so sensitive that leaving the watch off your wrist (lower temp) for a few days that the batt voltage will drop and the second hand will no longer stop at 12. It can be reset by pushing in the crown for 3 sec but it will loose position again if the voltage drops.

So... The second hand rotate at 58 second in total, not 60 second? You can't use this watch to set your other watch unless the second hand is at 12 isn't it?

Well yea, but that's how you'd set every watch no? When the seconds hand is at 12. U just maybe have to wait a seconds and catch it so to speak but I do see what you're saying.

@@SwissWatchGang I see... So the "second hand" moves 2 second faster than normal seconds hands then... Idk why they didn't implement the system of the Glashutte Original Senator watch in settings as well, cz the minute hand in GO moves in 1 min increment instead of sweeping that causing unprecise hand placement in this watch...I wonder if its due to the play between each gears though its easily fixed with composite gearing instead of spring and jumper mechanism.

@@watchnerds No you are missing the point of this watch. It is replication the original station clock which has a continuous second sweep which stops at 12 for two seconds to allow all the stations clocks across the country to synchronise.

Why did Mondaine discontinue this model? They should reissue and include radio control and I’ll buy it immediately. Remember the paddle at the railroad station. Trains leaving on time. Watch keeping perfect time. Come on Mondaine!

Definitely, I was interested too and then it was not longer available. Want to see an improved version with a perfectly smooth sweeping second!

If the Swiss made a new automatic movement that achieves the Stop2Go with a sweep second hand... yes, that would be 'proper'. But a second hand powered by a quartz Ronda movement that runs 58 seconds and halts and then continues... oh well. For me, it is the iconic Bauhaus movement. But you are right, the baton hand and just playing with it until we get bored with it... I love the look but 'quartz' to me is a horological joke. Might as well stick to the watch that follows Internet time...

most of my watches are quartz, i was an electronic tech in USAF, and that was a lot of very fine expensive schooling, and I like electronic over mechanical in most gadgets, not vehicles watches are a modern success of advertising, as china proofs every day, with the cheap rip off of all fine mechanical watches
