Absolutely class watch. Most people associate Patek with the Nautilus but the Calatrava has and will always be THE Patek Philippe icon

If I was buying new form the AD, This model would absolutely be my first choice, however I would opt for the White Gold Model with that beautiful Charcoal gray dial. Congratulations on another wonderful and tasteful addition to your collection. I hope you keep it in the family forever and appreciate it as a timeless heirloom.

This is the essential Patek. I love Vacheron but the Calatrava with the coin edge bezel is the ultimate choice here I think. Also, I agree with you. I’m in love with manual wind. And just look at that caseback and you can’t argue with that.

That’s a BEAUTIFUL watch. I agree with sticking to the pin buckle cos the case is so slim, a folding clasp would probably throw the aesthetics off balance. Congratulations on getting such a classic looker. 😍

I am a VC fan and I have a slightly different suggestion - the manual wound 2 hand Patrimony REFERENCE: 81180/000R-9159, which is absolutely beautifully proportioned and thin (I prefer it with one of the available dark dials), or the REFERENCE: 1110U/000R-B085 with the second display. However, they are all gorgeous!

The simplicity of this watch is breathtaking. You know, I think this would be my one watch collection. I think it’s a proper lifetime piece. Enjoy it Ridah 🔥

Firstly congratulations on the beautiful watch. My taste in watches has changed in the last few years. I much prefer the manual wind dress watch in precious metal over the hyped big and thick sports watch nowadays. Its just so much classy in opinion. Between the PP and VC, I wouldn't mind taking either as they are both beautiful but if i had one choice it probably be the VC as to me it looks more pleasing on the eye and just that bit more rarer. However, the PP is beautiful too and the open case back looks amazing. Tang buckle all the way.

@@WatchSociety yes, VC produce 20k watches a year while PP is easily triple that, so nearly everything VC produce is like limited edition and they discontinue it very quickly. Have you tried on the 41mm. You been pleasantly surprised. As these manual winding dress watches are very thin, it doesn't come across as big on the wrist. I have a rose gold VC 56 chocolate dial in 40mm and it doesn't feel big compared to my 34/36mm manual winding vintage watches. VC must have total faith in their watches as they give 8 year warranty. I dont have to sell you the brand as you have one. However, it's nice to have brand diversity in collecting. Lovely watch congratulations!!

Congrats! Amazing piece. I'm a huge VC fan and think they have the edge over PP on so many levels. That being said, between the 2 watches, the 6119 wins. Contemporary sizing - 39 over 38 - and the 21mm spacing between the lugs make this the clear winner. Plus, the cloud de paris around the bezel makes it the absolute stunner. It is on my list but for now my 50535 is the calatrava piece in my collection.

Congrats, nice to see a Patek video that is on other watches they make and that is a great watch!

I always go for clasp over pin and buckle simply because (a) I think they look so much better and (b) because they add longevity to the strap ie your not constantly bending the leather every time you put it on and take it off not to mention pushing the end into the retaining loop you know. Beautiful watch by the way I'm so jealous ! 😉

Patek Vs Vacheron= Patek all day long. Plus the Calatrava you got is an art piece with Clous De Paris design on it. That’s another level.

Congratulations to you on getting your watch. Both that abd and the VC are excellent and classic watches. To be honest I don't think You can go wrong with either watch.

I bought my wife the 3919, which is at 33 mm a great woman’s watch at today’s standard. The prices are quite good, because it is too small for most men.

I feel the problem with the buckle is that over time, the crease in the strap where the buckle pinches the strap will really show over time, but it does have the advantage of being resized at will. The clasp will give the strap a longer life as there is no buckle to pinch at it, but resizing it is out of the question. Depends on how you’ll wear the watch, if its more than occasional, the pin buckle will be better, if it’s more for the rare occasions, i think the clasp will be better

Awesome watch pin buckle way to go

Don't change the pin buckle, this is the original design that goes with whole watch design. Both the watch and buckle have sharp edges. The traditional calatrava clasp is very rounded, doesn't look well with the design of this model. I used to have the same idea of changing to clasp, luckily i didn't change it. The seller told me not to waste money to buy the clasp the first time, and after wearing it for several months, I noticed this is really a design issue 😊

I love this watch

I unfortunately had to sell my Nautilus 5726 blue dial to pay some debt, but picked up a 5119 J adding it to my collection again after years of not having one. The hobnail bezel and lacquered white dial offsetting the blued hands & black Roman numerals is sight to behold making the pain of losing the Nautilus diminish greatly ☝🏻🥴 I do have the Vacheron 4500 V for mu holy trinity sports watch with black dial, a Patek 5960 P for my complicated reference & a ceramic Daytona for my Chrono so it’s not all bad ▶️

I'd go with the brown dial traditionelle from VC, i prefer the smooth bezel and the domed crystal on that

Do they include the gold caseback too? I would want it, even prefer it myself. Beautiful watch, congrats. As for VC vs. PP, I don't know enough about the VC to choose between them. You should review one so I can see it. And yes I would take the pin and buckle over the clasp, its more traditional and I have small wrist so deployant clasps never fit me right.

Congrats, beautiful peace. I tried it on yesterday, disappointed. It wears like a dining plate, 39 mm for a dress watch, flat lugs. Ring around small seconds and dots and batons. Really busy imo. The white gold is more subtle and less busy. Im waiting for the new 37mm release

Completely agree! I was fortunately enough to go through what you did, and picked mine up a couple weeks ago. When I inquired about the clasp, the salesperson suggested that, since I'd have to get a separate strap to go with the clasp (as it supposedly doesn't fit on the strap with the buckle), I might as well wear hold off on ordering the clasp until I've worn out the original strap, which seems to be very sound advice.

Are Patek similar to Rolex, in that the best price you get them for is retail? Further, are there long waiting lists at retail? I'm surprised I don't see more watch enthusiasts wearing them, even when price isn't an issue.

The Patek 5524G Pilot looks very similar to the Zenith Pilot Type 20 Extra Special 40mm. Both have several similar features especially the arabic numerals. Did Patek copy the idea from Zenith?
