Tried this on and I have to say I didn’t like it, the lug to lug and diameter are just too large for a dress watch, I much prefer the discontinued 5196 size which to me was perfect. The movement however is spectacular and very well done.

Lovely watch, lovely movement which has twin barrels. I tried both last year when they were released, I believe, unfortunately I found they wore a bit too flat on my wrist, as the lugs stick out somewhat and don’t really angle down much so I settled for the slightly smaller, now discontinued 5196j at 37mm…can’t go wrong with a Calatrava..👍

that has been the issue since the 5196. flat i dont mind but no curves on the lugs and it sticking out really makes it a deal breaker. pity because the dial execution on the 5196 was patek calatrava at its best (ref 96 was perfect of course)

Would you go into some more dressier pieces such a VC or Breguet after getting your Calatrava combo? I feel like you really enjoy these references and type of designs. I personally love Breguet and Cartier are both historical horological brands with a massive heritage and full availability in any given AD. Excellent content 👌🏼 🤍 J.

Congrats! The brand CEO recently mentioned the crazy demand for these. I got the 6119R for the Mrs last month. Don’t personally rock gold for religious reasons, but love seeing it on her wrist. Btw: hasn’t anybody really figured out the right way to pronounce Patek? Is it PAtek or PaTEK?

What do you think about Vacheron Constantin? of course Rolex continue to dominate the market, but I just fall in love with the new VC historique 222. Although, it’s re sale price must be really sucks. The market seems to forget about VC and continue to focus on Patek, AP, Rolex and Richard Mill

Both are beautiful. I would lean more toward the RG version for legibility reasons.

Rose gold is a bit nicer in my opinion but both are beautiful not a fan of white gold because it resembles stainless steel and all my sport models are stainless steel you need a rose or yellow gold in the collection especially in a dress watch

I've got a challenge for you. Wear a Tissot PRX powermatic 80 for a week and let us know how it compares and in which ways it's different from wearing a luxury watch. Hope you'll consider.

I think you need to be in a suit to review a Patek. Not that you look bad in casual, but I feel the watch would look better on someone in a suit and tie. It’s way too stiff for my taste.
