Unboxing $450 Daytona Reload Jacket from Master Supply (Honest Take!)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Time to unbox the Master Supply Co Daytona RELOAD.
Revisiting the Daytona, this time Reload edition. After my videos on the Daytona 224, Josh at Master Supply reached out and we had a lively discussion about my critiques, jacket design, leather and component quality, their hopes for the future etc. He decided to send me this Reload with my suggested modifications to test out, wear in, and give my thoughts.
There are some changes from the Daytona 224 I previously unboxed: no wind flap, plus a different leather, collar, action back, and lining. At my request, they also reworked the interior pocket to be less bulky, removed the welting on the sleeve zips, and shortened the sleeves and body lengths.
In this video I give a brief overview on Master Supply Co and my previous experience with the 224 , unbox the Daytona Reload, and give it a first wear.
Thanks for joining in!

    Hey Skip, missed your comment. Yeah my first impression is positive. I agree, it’s not the same as a Schott or Vanson, or Aero etc. But for $450 I think it’s pretty good. I only have handled the Thursday racer jacket in similar price range and this one is much better.

    Just picked up the pants and really dig em! Will be curious how the jacket wears in. Some direct improvements over the 224. The leather is thick but very soft, maybe softer than I’d like? Dunno. Will see!

    Hey Duds, Again a very interesting leather jacket revue. I especially loved watching the unboxing moment with this vibe of excitement. This company has beautifully designed boxes and cloth bags. - The jacket is of course also beautiful, and I appreciate a lot how you show and discuss the different aspects and features like sizing/ fit and design as well as the leather quality of this jacket. That makes your revues so helpful, inspirational and unique. It's looking very good and stylish on you in combination with the white T-shirt and grey trousers. Well, when you are not wearing it on a motor bike you might as well wear it on a public bus, haha..! Just fun, kidding! Thank you again for this revue. Peace and kindest regards from Switzerland.

    Hey Del, I’ve been a fan of your content for a while and really enjoy your reviews! Just curious, did the company refund your original purchase and send you this jacket for free? It looks great, but I noticed you didn’t mention any sponsorship. I still appreciate your review, but just wanted to understand the context. Thanks.. Imo you could pay a little less and go with 5star

  • @DudsByDel

    @DudsByDel

    Ай бұрын

    Hey Ryan, as another Pakistani maker I think the 5 star comparison is apt. I reference them in my earlier Master Supply related unboxing when I discuss their apparent business model. The question is, can they deliver better QC, customer service, design etc to make up the difference in cost? It’s the essential question for any middle man. Probably possible considering not everyone is way deep into the details or wants to go custom. Josh from Master Supply reached out after my videos on the 224. He appreciated my thoughts on the design ie internal pockets and bulky welting and they have apparently changed their pocket configuration universally as a result. He offered to send a Daytona Reload to wear in with my suggested modifications. I was going to discuss this at length in the full review but if you find it helps to give more context here, then I feel like I should have included it to begin with. My apologies. I’ll update the description to reflect it. It remains my honest take on the jacket. I think the biggest question will be how the leather does with wear. It’s quite soft for 1.5mm cowhide. Which I can see appealing to some folks, it’s got an almost sweatshirt feel like deerskin does sometimes. But the flip side would less durability.

    Considering this vs. Schott 641. 641 worth the extra dough? Should do side by side comparison value jacket vs industry standard!

  • @DudsByDel

    @DudsByDel

    Ай бұрын

    If you really like the 641 I’d go for it. Buy used for a huge discount, it’s a popular model and shows up often enough in the used market. If you prefer to buy new I can see the appeal here. The look of this jacket reminds me more of my Vanson comet. Either way, you’ll see that 641 or Comet will be made with better patterns and significantly tougher leather. They have a sense that you could run them over with a tank and they’d be fine which I don’t get from this jacket. All that to say, I’d like to do a video on it too

    Simmons Bilt is very similar to Aero from my understanding. Shangri-La jackets tend to have nice materials like Badalassi etc. haven’t handled one of their jackets or seen enough of them to form an opinion.

    It's a decent-looking jacket, but my perception is to that MS Co seem to be a mixed bag, QC-wise, and that for less money, you could pick up a lightly-used Vanson Comet or Model B that would probably outlive you. (I've owned and worn my Comet hard for 23 years, and I'm not sure it's even fully broken-in yet, haha)

  • @DudsByDel

    @DudsByDel

    Ай бұрын

    It really did remind me of my Comet, but less utilitarian. I also recommend buying used Vanson, Schott, etc for folks trying to save money. But some are just not into the used market. A mystery to me. So I’ve tried to be open to reviewing jackets I wouldn’t otherwise have checked out because their retail price is lower
