UNBOUND GRAVEL Part 2- Race vlog!
My first ever American gravel (mud?) race!!
Wow...that was an experience!!
Travel with The Ribble Collective through the ups and downs of the very brutal Unbound 200 gravel race in Emporia, Kansas.
Thanks to my sponsors for all the support getting me there: @RibbleCyclesChannel, Parcours, OTE, @GROCYCLES, Vittoria, @wahoofitness, @Apidurabikepacking, Chimney Fire Coffee and POC

Thank you SO much!! Lifesavers aha.
Recently, when I'm struggling in academics, life, or whatever, and I feel ready to quit, this video comes back up in my mind and I'm inspired to keep going. I see that massive mud field and think "If Maddie could keep going through that, I can keep going through this." It sounds really corny, but your determination is really inspiring.

One for the ages. Be proud of that one!!
Proper trooper. Puking and whatever else, and still made it through the mud and to the end💪🏼 Great vlog!

And I thought that Belgian Gravel ride was muddy 😂
Well done!! So impressive to score a finish 😎 And all re-told without any gravel beef 🤣 Bravo 👏🏻
Congrats on finishing that meat grinder of a race! What a day.
Congrats y’all!!!
Congrats for finishing! Looked like a tough one!
Its like the cycling version of " The Tough Guy" events . No1 Aim Survive come out alive . 2 Anything else a bonus.
Great effort Maddy. Well done.
Somehow I survived the mud but the heat took me out, because I fell behind on hydration and nutrition during the 1:15 dragging the bike through the mud. Great job finishing the race!!! times be damned; conditions were epic and anyone who finishes should be incredibly proud of the achievement!

Totally agree ! Was honestly a different breed of brutal aha
Well done great effort
Character building! The grim mud section 10 miles in couldn't have been better placed to have a major effect on the event. If there is a Gravel Devil he was certainly responsible for that. Chapeau for making it round in one piece.

Ahahaha love this response
Well done Maddy, looked like a hard shift 🥵🚴
Considering the mud and rain you did great. Now that you know what to expect I'm sure next year you'll dominate.
Well done Maddy and to your fellow team mates, another great race report.

Well done! Scary part is this was not an exceptionally “hot” year - a couple years back it was mid to high 90’s and no clouds - that is brutal.
Well done for finishing, really great perspective with some great riding footage , open and honest .

Thank you :)
You go girl! It was sketchy out there for sure. Heart and Grit was needed that day. Because of all of the variables just finishing is a great accomplishment. Congrats and hopefully you’ll be back soon.

Cheers!! It honestly was a brutal day out aha
You conquered the mud….one for the ages
Well done. In terms of endurance gravel racing you are a spring chicken, so the best is yet to come 🙂

ahaah think I was the youngest pro on the start list! Feels weird because at 25 I am old in the road scene, but apparently a spring chicken in gravel
Glad you toughed it out! I hit the mud in the 100 but pushed on as well. I cycled through Ireland a few years back and Spain last year. Always fun visiting new places. And the accents! Next year!

Awesome for getting through it! I think so many people hit that mud and were not happy at all aha
That was a very cool video! I found your channel when I searched for Gravel Locos, and of course, had to subscribe! I rode in that gravel race last month, Gravel Locos, in Hico, Texas, which was mentioned as a warm-up to Unbound. I enjoyed seeing your experiences...sorry for all of you in that MUD. Nice work on a difficult and long day! Fortunately for us, our rain came the night before, so the course was 99% dry, other than the river crossing! Greetings from a USA "cousin"!

That river crossing was fun though. The climb out of it slightly less so

Gravel Locos looked super cool! I was keen to combine that with Unbound in one trip, but there was a big race at home I didn't want to miss. Maybe next year! Nice last name ahah

@@cjohnson3836 Right you are! That climb out was sloppy, one of few wet or muddy spots on the whole course. Super fun overall for me!

@@maddynutt Sure-there's always next year! Give it a shot, and there is even a special place to stay up the road, The Nutt House Hotel in Granbury, Texas. And in Texas there are lots of Nutts, and some of us have two "T's"! Sets us apart from all the rest of them...hat tip to Grady Nutt for the joke! I am enjoying your videos-thanks!

@@vicnutt6742 ahahahha I love that! Wonder who the original Nutt was 🤣 there are not many in the UK at all
Huge respect for overcoming the muddy conditions, and the rest, to successfully complete this test of endurance is a worthy achievement, well done Maddy So that’s the “Unbound” box ticked, what’s the next challenge? Onwards and upwards……

Flying to Finland tomorrow! :)
You gave it your best shot. That mud section was insane - and fair to say - perhaps shouldn't been there! On another note - gonna have to meet Joe one day - we are both from the same home town and were as he built for speed - I am built for endurance. Although sometimes I think I push that wayyy too far - I just completed 2 ultras in 1 week. Just uploaded a quick highlights video from both All Points North and GB Escapades to my channel. My love for gravel is only just ignited - but I think when it comes to that shit and sand (thinking battle on the beach) I'll leave that too someone else 🤣
The level of competition at Unbound now is INSANE. It seems like the worlds top riders were here. I mean, on the rideable sections, to be competitive you needed to maintain almost 200 bpm and 400W. Otherwise you finished way back.
Watching this on the trainer, looked up at 7:30 was like that guy has the same backpack as me... because its me

That’s brilliant 🤣
I think you needed some ruby slippers! 😂
Given the unorthodox prep, doing it for the first time, missing out on Nostodamus Amira team mate watts I’m full of admiration that you finished. Glad you managed to fit in that Danni is under 30….and yeah.. after years of following unbound it’s a bit like the 3Peaks. Age experience counts for a lot.

I was so surprised that the field was a fair bit older, but it totally makes sense!
"how you feeling about the mud, Joe" ... "not impressed". Later that day opinions may have changed 😀👍
Top effort to get round, looks tough.👍 Re your tummy issues, have you tried meditation with deep yogic breathing? Also , I use Active Root products, their cacao Peppermint & ginger gel mix is very calming on the tummy, their ginger sports drinks likewise. Not sponsored by them, just a happy customer as they help my tummy & migraines (which other products give me when cycling).

Haven't tried those but will have a look!
Who makes that white fluffy top? I want to grab it for my daughter. And HUGE congrats. I’m a road rider/triathlete that’s been intrigued w gravel and videos from this year just about negate any further consideration. 😂
