Even going slow really misses the point - the driver needs to be aware of his air cleaner location and especially its physical height above ground. These vans all seem to have REALLY low mounted air cleaners so even a slow approach @ say 3 foot of water doesn't help if the cleaner is only 2'10" above grade. What an incredible waste to see SOOOOO many of those vans self-destruct.

So many professionals here,roofers ,plumbers etc and a bus driver but sadly not a brain cell between them ! 😅

Amazes me when 9/10 people think their vehicle suddenly turns into a speedboat.

Regular viewers of these vids know exactly where the air intake on a Sprinter is.......underneath the passenger side front wheel 😮

Those vans are their livelihoods. With their van not running, they can't pay their rent & feed their kids. Diesel engines are very dear. Buying a replacement diesel engine at a scrapyard will cost roughly the same as buying an used van will cost. Why do they still do this ????

Because the vehicle needs to be driven at walking pace to avoid a bow wave which is stated in the unread manuals and this is is just not compatible with human nature. Especially with an audience eager to see your astounding driving prowess at high speed and all the fun of making a big splash. The driver at the end was a rare exception to the rule.

@@michaeld5888 And the manuals should give a "wade depth" for the vehicle. Really though. you should never go into water if you're unsure of the depth.

They need to start taking out the spark plugs out to save the engines to get the water out of the pistons so it doesn’t bend the con rods 😂

I can't believe that someone lives close to a water crossing and freaks out if someone does the only thing right - going backwards through it. I don't think there is a ford in a 500km radius from where I grew up, still even I learned that in driving school. 😅

Water is sucked into the engine through the air filter and since it is incompressible it will block the pistons in the engine which will cause the connecting rods to bend and totally destroy the engine.

Most of them see they're being filmed and try to put on a show 😂

Love the, wah, wah, wah, waaaaaaahhhhhh, haaaaah, haaaaah! These drivers need to either get their eyes tested or get driving lessons, unbelievable but funny.

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some people are. They seem to have no concept of how their engines work at all. The cost of destroying the vehicle and their livelihood doesn't seem to register in their heads at all. Where's the common sense? 🤔🤔 The car with the bikes on has no visible rear number plate so not only has he likely destroyed his car but has committed a traffic offence too. Dumber and dumber.
