Wikpedia, the free encyclopedia´s quotation: "In the list of the top 100 U.S. thouroughbred of the 20th Century by ´Blood Horse Magazine´, Swaps ranks 20th. He was known as ´the California Comet´ and ocasionally with affection, due to his wins despite numerous injuries and treatments, ´the California Cripple" Greetings from Venezuela.

Round Table kicks his hind legs so far forward that he's practically scraping his own girth. I have never seen another Thoroughbred with a stride quite like that.

Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia´s quotation: "Round Table was foaled at Claiborne Farm in Kentucky, on the night of April &, 1954. Bold Ruler was foaled at the same farm, on the same night, and both stallions won ´American Horse of the Year´ honors in their respectie careers, returning to Claiborne to stand at stud. Round Table was trained by Moodey Jolley (1910-1976)" Greetings from Venezuela.

Great stories.... I had a paint mare with Swaps as a Great Great Grand sire... always regretted not breeding her. Swaps was amazing. I worked T.B. sales groom at Hollywood Park and other tracks. Hard to believe its not still there.

I got to rub Swaps on the shoulder at Spendthrift farm. I think I was around twelve. I believe he was double my age at the time. Nashua was there also. I believe Round Table was there.

Kelso was the GOAT and it's not close. He defeated 30 of 31 international competitors (incl. 6 champs) on their surface, grass. That alone may be enough to out rank all the other great American horses. Kelso is the only one who answers all the questions. In all he beat 20 different champions a total 34 times. He's the only one to win the handicap triple crown under 130+ in all 3 races (SEC never under more than 126). He won 13 stakes under 130+ incl. 6 straight feature races. He was a great 3YO and won the 2 mile JCGC in American record time in slop (MOW never ran on a severe off track). He won stakes races vs multiple champs 3 different times needing less than 100% effort (SEC never won a stakes race in less than 100% effort). He set 7 different track records despite rarely being pushed to run full out. With the incomparable Arcaro ( the last 2 years of his career) aboard Kelso as a 3 & 4 YO they comprised one of the greatest winning combinations in American sports history. These are just some of the reasons why Kelso is American horse racing's GOAT. However, you will rarely if ever hear that from horse racing insiders or media because saying a gelding is the GOAT is not good for business and that's the business of breeding. Breeding has become over the last 50 years or so a bigger business aspect of racing than the races. That's why since the 1980s the big events at the end of the year are called "The Breeders Cup".

Awesome video. I'm loading it into my "Favs" folder. Great job on the Commentary. And Thank You for the horses you showcased. You always hear of the same 10-15 horses. There were soooo many spectacular racehorses during the 40's, 50's, and 60's that it's bind-bending. You don't hear enough of these guys unless you read books (which I do). Thank You!!!!

I actually saw Swaps beat Mr. Gus and Porterhouse in one their races. I was a kid, but these were wonderful horses. Porterhouse had a world record for six furlongs and was just beautiful. And could never beat Swaps.

I've always thought Swaps and Buckpasser are the most underrated horses of all time. I think the eastern snobs were very angry because Swaps wasn't allowed to race in the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes so they placed him lower on the list of greatest horses.

Secretariat only ran 16 months as in his shares contract he wouldnt run as a 4 year old. Ron his jockey was on film saying the horse was just coming on when he was retired. He wouldn't get the chance to continue on to compete such as Kelso did as an 8 year. Old when he suffered a horrific eye injury. He would heal and keep his eye but would not return to the race track. As a gelding he would have no offspring. The little gelding surely is greatness! His records still stand and will always be ip at the top of the list. However. Swaps, Roundtable. Kelso, Zenyatta would share that spot as there are others I didnt list it's been a great many years in racing and never could we miss Man O' War who really put racing in the mouths of people at the dinner table a name everyone would continue to this day. Seabiscuit, Citation, Whirl Away, War Admiral. Canada's Northern Dancer, the tragic end of Ruffian, the off spring off Secretariat, such as Lady's Secret and so many carrying the Gene's of the great man O' War. May they all RIP. Many I didnt mention, may they also rest in greatness with peace.
