Thelincolnexpress 1865 It’s just another way of playing the harmonies. He’s merely taking the third of each chord and playing it an octave higher. The chord can be rolled to avoid having to spread the hand.

I find it quite easy and natural to do, and I wasn't taught it. I just think using bass lines and octaves only is missing something. The way I play isn't really something I've thought a lot about, but based on the comments on here, I know it's not normal. If my technique helps others, i'd be happy with that.

I perform this piece alot myself on piano. It really a simple chord progression but I like the way this pianist emphasizes melody. I'm usually singing the melody so I improvise in between vocal lines.

Dare I say it is the sweetest piano intepretation of "Careless whispers". So fluid. So much feeling. I can feel your guts... Thanks.

Rarely comment on anything and I’m usually plagued with that horrific “I’m also a pianist so my arrogance overrides my want to compliment” But this is just bloody brilliant. Gorgeous tones, masterful dynamics and a lovely rhythmic elegance in its simplicity. That was a joy to listen to and I shall be taking notes!
