Welcome to the music of the greatest band of all time! Queen has a huge fan base so keep ‘em coming. They are probably the most diverse band ever. They all wrote songs and each of them wrote huge hits. If you’ve ever heard We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions, then you’ve heard their music. They have some of the most iconic songs in music history ❤. I definitely recommend reacting to Somebody To Love live in Montreal from 1981. It is fantastic! Queen is so good live that their live music is actually better than the studio versions

You should really listen to this song with both headphones on. This song in particular, has back and forth parts where it goes from one headphone to the next. So you need both for the full surround experience. Good reaction & commentary. I loved what you said about ‘the killing’ feeling different across various genres. 😁

In the song, the 'man' he 'killed' was himself, .... what he couldn't pretend he was any longer. He felt sad that it would make his mother cry to lose the son she thought she had, but he wasn't that man, he hid his real self.

Queen is : Freddie Mercury : Lead Vocals, Piano Brian May: Guitar, Backing Vocals Roger Taylor : Drums, Backing Vocals John Deacon: Bass That’s a breakdown of their MAIN Roles in the band. -All 4 men are proficient in multiple instruments besides their main ones. -All 4 men are songwriters, have major hits credited individually as songwriters, and all inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame - 3 of the 4 are very good singers and have sung leads at times (only the bassist John avoids singing and never took leads) Completely aside from their musical talents, all 4 are very educated and intelligent! - Freddie Mercury earned a certificate in Art and Graphic Design, created Queen’s crest logo - Roger Taylor began his studies in Dentistry at the London Hospital Medical College , “got bored” and switched schools/majors, ultimately earning his BSc in Biology at East London Polytechnic - John Deacon earned a First Class Honours (roughly equivalent to the US granting ‘Summa Cum Laude’ /highest honors) in Electronics from Chelsea College (University of London), then at least began working towards a Master’s degree in Acoustics and Vibration Technology (it’s unclear from my reading whether he completed it) - Brian May is truly impressive: After earning his BSc in Mathematics and Physics at Imperial College (University of London), he began working on his PhD in Astronomy (now called Astrophysics) - but he left behind his PhD program to go become a legendary rock guitarist. BUT after Freddie’s death, he took back up his studies in the mid-00’s and finally (and legitimately, not honorary) earned that PhD in Astrophysics in 2007 with his thesis “A Survey of Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud” , more than 30 years after he left it . Nowadays, when he’s not shredding guitar on stages worldwide, he does things like collaborating with NASA and the European Space Agency!

Let’s now add a knighthood to Brian’s list of accomplishments. So now it is now Sir Dr Brian May. Lol. Let’s not forget he built his guitar with his dad from a mantle and a table from his home. John built a one of a kind amp called the “The Deacy Amp” all of Brian’s cool sounds are from the amp John Deacon built. (Bass Player).

Freddie's family is Zoroastrian, maybe that is why you recognize the word used. Not sure of course. You should watch the 1985 Live AID Queen set in full. All acts were aloud 20 min sets and the rotated between London and Philadelphia. The time actually goes by quickly. There were 72,000 people in London and 100,000 people in Philadelphia. The concert was broadcast live to 1.5 billion people for the drought and famine in Africa/Ethiopia.

Farouk Bulsara was born in 1946 in Zanzibar. He is a Parsi Indian (Zoroastrian Persian that fled Persia to India when it was taken over by Arabs in 7th century). His dad worked for the Sultan of Zanzibar and had to flee with his family during the 64 Zanzibar Revolution, and settled in Middlesex England. He learned the piano as a child when he was sent to boarding schools in India that were modeled after British schools. He changed his name to Freddie Mercury in the late 60's before forming Queen in 1970 with Brian May and Roger Taylor and he always said that was when he was truly born. He attributed his amazing 4 octave range to his pronounced overbite and refused to have surgery to fix it once Queen became hugely popular and he could afford it. Queen is often voted the UK's favorite band, beating even the Beatles.

Some artists are so much a part of our lives and our souls. Such a part of our culture. There are the ones who rise to the very top. Mostly because we know who they are. They live their lives in front of us. We see their hurts and their successes. Some will always work their way into our psyche because they sing their experience. Elvis; we always knew what what was happening in his life by the songs he chose to sing. He shared that with us. Freddy: EVERYBODY knew what was happening with Freddy! He poured it out in music. Brad Paisley; One of my favorites because if he’s happy, you’re happy. If he’s sad he’ll cheer you up. We could go on all day about those. There are so many. Swift had taken it to a level no one had ever seen.

In my opinion, music like this has an opera feel to it. Classic opera music is often a story of love and life and death. The name of this album is A Night at The Opera. The entire album is a wonderful piece of music. If you listen to the entire album and keep the underlying theme in mind you will have quite an experience. This album was released in 1975. Followed a year later with Queen A Day at the Races. Also an incredible piece of music. Both are worth a listen. Thanks for your video!

BTW, the first chorus is all Freddie Mercury. You need to do more Queen reactions. Songs like White Queen and Somebody to Love (the live versions) will showcase the talent of these guys, especially Freddie. Freddie died 32 years ago and Adam Lambert now sings the lead but the music is so awesome that new fans are onto them.

It kinda starts with a synopsis in acapella and his concern of eternal condemnation. Then It's him confessing to his mother to what he did and expressing the remorse and resulting consequences and perhaps true feelings all while not wanting her to feel bad and to go on with life. Then later in the change up he seems to give a backstory as to the whys and hows that caused him to shoot w/out saying exactly what happened. And the closing dirge of tragedy.

Great reaction! I subbed as soon as I heard you say oh no when he said he killed a man. This band is famous for their transitions and different musical genres in one song. This was considered groundbreaking at the time because of those things and also the unusually long length of the song. The record company didn’t want it released and asked the band to cut the song down. But Freddie Mercury, the singer and writer of the song said no we never compromise artistically. So the song was released this way and really put Queen on the map.

"The March of the Black Queen" from their second album Queen II has more sections than Bohemian Rhapsody, you may find it really strange at a first listening, but trust me, the more you'll listen, the more you'll find how music, instruments and voices create something unique. Warning: in Queen II the tracks fade one over the other, so you may find a cut version or a complete one with the first notes of the next song coming out. You also won't be disappointed if you react to the live version of "Somebody to love" in Montreal 1981.

He's not getting full effect of song only listening with one ear. I'm pretty sure Queen is the first band to bounce the sound back and forth from one side to the other.

This is not glorifying “just killed a man” This is remorse and talking to his mama. Or is he talking about himself “just killed a man” ??

Your sound is tinny. Can you fix it. Anyway Queen will send you into a wonderful rabbit hole. Don’t take the killing so literally. It’s a metaphor. You are missing a lot by not using both ears. Anyway glad you did this, it’s very iconic.

It is thought that the man Freddie killed in the song was his previous self when he came out of the closet and told his mother he was gay.

Wear the headphones properly when listening to Queen!!! Especially in the studio performances. By not having them both on your ears, you've lost many different sounds & musical nuance! Hard to watch for me.
