This week, Chuck is doing a DIY Vevor Condenser Coil Upgrade. We learned about this in a Facebook group for Beginning Moonshiners. And Chuck also saw a video from Still in the Clear referencing this upgrade (video linked below).
Our condenser coil needed an upgrade to more effectively condense the alcohol vapors back to a liquid and also to provide more copper in this still for cleaning up the alcohol.
In addition to the condenser bucket for the still, Chuck also ordered some items from Amazon. Those items for the upgrade are listed below.
Chuck completes the upgrade for the condenser coil in the video and also does a cleaning run with the Vevor still and a sacrifice run to make sure everything is working well.

Thank you for watching and for the comment. We love your handle!!
Putting water in the pipe and closing the ends and freezing it helps you bend it as well

Wow, that's interesting. I would worry about it rupturing from ice expansion, but a fascinating concept.
Phil Billy Moonshine also has upgrade parts for the Vevor stills if you aren't so handy.

That is good to know. Thanks for the tip!
You can use big wine cooking 2000w stainless cooker for a distiller, just the lid must be tight.

There are several home brewers that can be used to distill. I like these because they are easy to clean and work with an induction eye, so I don't have to worry about scorching the mash on a heating element.
Hello, couldnt you make the condenser from flexible stainless pipe, just add a spacer to hold the coils? thanks , best regards

You could do that. Technically all you need is a heat conductive material to cool the steam back to a liquid. Copper is just kind of traditional and is supposed to help remove some things from the alcohol. Sulfer compounds I think.
😃😃😃, im not running Vevor, but i am running the same set up. My worm is already 3/8th tubing, u actually notak8ng a change?

Since our tube is now longer, it is less likely to get steam blown all the way through. (If you don't have enough coil when you are cooking, it is possible to blow steam all the way through it).Happy shining!
Please be captain spalding for Halloween.

Probably not going to happen. But thanks for the comment and for watching.

Thanks for watching. i went back and looked at it and my redneck self was calling the tubing wire. lol
I drilled the four holes for zip ties to low and immediately realized they would leak. I redrilled them about an inch higher and filled the original holes with silicone.

Yeah, attention to detail. At least that is a relatively easy fix. We have all been there!
What type/size is the hose? I have a Vevor that didn’t come with the hose.

I think it is 3/8 ID tubing. You can get it probably from Amazon or an aquarium store.

I should’ve been clearer. I’m talking about the flexible tubing/hose that connects the boiler to the condenser

@@wpshaffer It's a 3/8ths ID flex hose which 1/2 inch connector on the end. Ours came with our Vevor kit.
I mean no disrespect, but your voice reminds me of the Red Green show

Had to look that one up. The name was familiar but it has been awhile since we've seen that. Thanks for the comment!
Wire???

We did not use wires. But as rednecks, we will admit to using some zip ties. LOL

Lol. Home distilling is legal here, so we don't have to be hypothetical 😊 South Korea is friendly for home distillation.
