Una voce splendida , corposa,estesa, e tecnicamente ferratissima. Con il valore aggiunto della rarità nel panorama attuale : un autentico contralto. Eppure non ha avuto il successo planetario che meritava . Che peccato ! Che miopia nei direttori artistici!
This is so perfect it's unbelievable! It's funny how all the mezzos are trying so much just to sing a low G and a high Ab in the same aria and this amazing lady with a breathtaking real contralto voice just makes this so beautiful! I have no words for how Ewa Podles sang this aria!

One of the few true contralto voices, and a big one at that. I went to a recital of hers, and it was absolutely mesmerizing and unforgettable.

Maybe of of the most spectacular and mysterious singers of all times. Her range of roles is outstanding and she never disappointed me.

I wish they would get rid of the term "mezzo soprano." There are sopranos, tenors, and basses. Why can't there be altos?

@@danawinsor1380 Did you forget baritones exist? Anyways, there are clearly voices in-between soprano and contralto, hence the mezzo label. Ghena Dimitrova, soprano. Ewa Podles, contralto. But then, what of Fedora Barbieri? Her voice is clearly lower than Dimitrova's, yet higher than Podles'.
Ewa Podles is a vocal phoenomenon! She is the world's best singer EVER! With how much heart and emotion she puts into singing. And that low G... This aria was so perfect it made me cry. Beautiful music and such an incredible singer... The orchestra is also perfect. Thank you Ewa for making this world a better place and making my day again. I always listen to you when I am sad and you always heal my pain!

Un vero contralto, con buona estensione verso il registro del mezzo soprano, ma fondamentalmente un ottimo contralto. Nell'esecuzione ha dominato sopratutto il grave.

@@harwood1239 У Дианы голос ближе к Пугачевой: мощные низы и верхи, умелая "игра" голосом - но практически "сухой" голос на средних. Возможно поклонники Пугачевой не замечали - но классический репертуар она "не тянула". У нее своя ниша, но ее исполнение "Голубки" и песен из репертуара Сенчиной и т.д. никуда не годится. То же самое и у раскручиваемой Дианы - а вообще голос Дианы - характерный признак для ее этнической группы......

@tomasburi Congratulations on your smart message here and in fact vocal extension and vocal timbre are two different things, but not everyone unfortunately understands this and Ewa Podlès worldwide is the best rare and true contralto on opera stages in the 20th and 21st century... 😀 #Bravo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
