At UMC, the safety of our patients is our priority.
UMC's Fall Prevention Campaign is aimed at spreading awareness throughout UMC that yellow gowns indicate a patient at risk for falls. We should be mindful of these patients, and offer our help.

We need to change the color from Yellow. My wife recently had a patient who was a fall risk refuse to wear anything yellow. The patient was an elderly Jewish man who was a holocaust survivor, the last time he was made to wear something yellow it was right before he was marched into a concentration camp.

OMG this is the best education video I've seen ever! The music, acting-so good, so funny!
I just wanted to thank UMC for this awesome video. I am a leader at a community health system in NC and we incorporated your video into our recent relaunch of a revamped Falls Prevention effort. Your video was the highlight of our staff presentations and made a potentially heavy topic fun and enjoyable for our staff while still sending a powerful message. UMC must be our kind of place! Congrats on your creativity and awesome spirit - so inspiring :)

You're right, Lori, and the responsibility is on us as caregivers to make sure you don't have to wait more than you should. This means: 1) A responsive nursing staff that has processes in place to ensure that answering your call is a priority, and 2) being consistent with the process of hourly rounding so that you trust us to check in on you at regular intervals. If you ever find yourself as a patient with us, we hope you'll see both of these key parts to UMC's patient experience.
