Ben's actor said in season 2 he will be there and be alive but i dont understand what he js talking about

Here is my theory: Ben told klaus that he hated to see him waste his life when he doesn’t even have his own which leads me to believe it wasn’t suicide but in a way it was I think since he obviously wasn’t happy with what he was doing and his powers he tried to just kill the monster inside him not knowing it would kill him as well but since it was basically a part of him he ended up dying with it so even though we can’t see the outer damage of his death when klaus sees and talks to him because it was all on the inside

Puppet Player Still doesn’t explain the statue. It’s not canon to the comics tho. Ben died when he was older.

I honestly feel like it could’ve been suicide considering you see nothing wrong with his ghost. As Vanya had said, he was the glue that kept them together and after he died, they were like strangers. Therefore them all playing a part (maybe not seeing the signs, pushing him too hard, etc.) is what led to their downfall

I believe they kept pushing him to do missions, the monsters come from a portal underneath his skin, but it was never said he can control them only let them out. I believe with the constant use, his own power ended him. Everyone pushed him in missions to use the power or train to use the power, thats why everyone caused his death, more than likely, something came out which he could not control

That makes sense, especially when you consider some of the other hargreeves' powers. Klaus couldn't (or at least didn't want to) control his powers so he took to drugs to numb it. Five couldn't control his time travel and now is a 58 year-old man in a 13 year-old's body. Vanya caused the APOCALYPSE! Not being in total control of their powers is somewhat of a theme.

Alex Hawkes I believe maybe Klaus can kind of see the dead how he wants to, he wanted to know how all of Hazel and Cha-Cha’s victims died to use it against them so he was looking for it. I’m assuming he probably doesn’t want to see Ben torn apart and gory, especially because they’re linked together and he sees him every day. Also, his dad did say there was so much more potential to his powers.

what i think is that, since she mentiones that they appear as how they died it should be something he is keeping under the hoodie. it would explain the excessive clothing. considering the plot and the characters i believe they got ito a fight where ben's tentacles are cut off. its maybe far streched but he is hiding his upper body and that kind of a tragic end would be everyones's ffault. they let him die due to the only thing makes him a hero. the statue also doesn't show his tentacles which is weird for a show that pays attention to the details

Its not that I hated Luther, I just was not interested in the romance aspect of him and his adopted sister, I thought that to be a bit weird tbh. We hardly knew him as a character...not sure how that could be your fav but he is somewhat likeable.

Let's not forget that Ben is always wearing a hoodie, so there could be some terrible physical trauma under his shirt that we don't know about and just can't see.

5:33 klaus saw all the dead people with the injuries they had when they died but Ben doesnt have any injuries, therefore meaning Ben must have been killed by something naturally on the inside

Luther pushed Ben too hard making him lose his head, this leading to his death. Probably consumed by his own darkness, explaining his lack of physical injuries on his ghost form. I believe that Luther punching the statue, and the statue losing it's head, it's somewhat symbolic of that. It wasn't just Luther, Diego was also to blame, and everyone just watches and do nothing, except for Number 5, who was absent during both the memorial death of Ben's statue and the actual death of Ben.

Stopping vanya would've been easy asf if they only just showed her some love instead of locking her up again

Personally i feel like Ben may have took his own life. The inscription on his grave stone suggests that he was fighting a darkness from within and that they hope he finds peace. This could be referring to his power and as we see many times he seems although he’s reluctant to use his power and doesn’t want to use it/ be apart if the umbrella academy. This could also explain why the crew say it was somewhat everyone’s fault. Also the fact that Ben was unhappy is hinted numerous times in the show. The thing I’m unsure about is the fact when he dies as his portrait disappears when he’s a child, his tombstone seems to be him as a teen and his ghost is him as an adult. But yeah feel free to comment evidence to support or contradict my theory :)

Ben had the biggest character development, AND it was largely through story telling. As a kid, he hated being asked to use his powers. However, whenever Klaus is in a situation, there are scenes where you can see him smiling and laughing from the adrenaline. Also, he was excited to use his powers when Klaus was able to make him physical for a little while.

This might seem weird but do you notice how when Diego tied klaus to the chair and then klaus tells him about Dave, Ben and klaus look at each other and then Ben gives him this sad look and then disappears. So what I’m saying is what if Ben and klaus had a similar relationship to what Allison and Luther had. It’s probably not true but that scene was kinda convincing.

Literally i have been wondering that for SO long

Either A) He killed himself (my top theory, based on the inscription on the statue) or B) his powers got out of control. Also all of the dead people we saw were still very angry with their deaths. It could be that Ben has accepted his death, and maybe that's why he looks normal.

I think that his powers got out of control and he could have hurt or killed innocents, after being possibly blamed and not supported by the other members, he killed himself.

Everyone that is dead and seen by Klaus looks like how they were when they died. Why did Ben look ok, untouched? Suicide. I think that he killed himself. He couldn’t take the pressure, the killing, the sadness. 🤷‍♀️

It wouldn’t necessarily be incest as they’re not related. Best way to describe this would be how Aidan described it on his Twitter. “Wrong. We were students in a co-ed boarding school. We were taken from mothers around the world. Sir Reginald referred to us as numbers so as to not reflect any emotional attachment. We were warriors in training, not family. Our caregiver was a robot. Pogo served only Reginald.” It’s not incest but weird as some of them refer to the others as brother and sister.

Theres an article online talking about how Ben might not be completely dead, the fact that Klaus isnt able to use his powers whilst high, yet Ben is always there might mean that Ben is in the same place Klaus went when he died, a kind of Purgatory, which is why he's with klaus all the time and why Klaus was able to summon him at the end of the show.

maybe Klaus was there when Ben died and he kinda "captured" the soul before it scaped Ben's body and it got stuck with him. and he probably did that without even realizing since nobody knows the full extent of Klaus' power. Ben was the one most vocal in convincing Klaus to stop doing drugs, so maybe he wasn't so lost back when Ben was still alive bc he's pretty much half of Klaus' impulse control. a less high Klaus means a more powerful Klaus, a Klaus that could pull off something like that.

It’s important to note that in the comic, Ben brought the creatures/tentacles from other dimensions. It’s possible that in “the accident” his body died, but his mind remained in a sort of “astral dimension”. It would also explain why there were no signs of trauma evident on his body.

It would've happened regardless, like the handler said - what's meant to be will be. Originally it was Harold that did it, but then Harold died and it was Luther. If it wasn't Luther it would've been someone else.

I think Klaus had something to do with Ben's death. When Klaus is kidnapped by Cha-cha and Hazel he starts to see all the people that the duo killed. This leads me to believe that the dead sticks around the people that caused their death. So that could be the reason why Ben is always with Klaus.

SPOILERS! I think Ben's death is supposed to be surrounded by mystery, we're not supposed to know. Because it's not important to his character arc, he's already accepted it. I think he was supposed to be Klaus' final challenge. Bringing Ben back from the dead, something he almost does in the finale. But here's some others I think it could be. 1. Ben ended his own life, under the guise of going on a mission - finally broken by all the pressure from Luther and his dad. 2. Vanya or Dad accidentally killed him, and the group collectively covered it up, Allison being the most invested in hiding the truth, as to not let the others know? - hence her talk not blaming Luther. 3. Ben genuinely did die in a mission, Luther may have been the only one with him. Luther couldn't save Ben in time, and it resulted in the others blaming Luther for not being strong enough etc.

What if Luther and Ben teamed up for a mission? Remember in the last episode? when vanya was going into all the rooms and I think it was Diego that said you need a partner for mission. So maybe one day ben and Luther teamed up, but then Ben died, so maybe that’s why he feels responsible (just a theory)🤷‍♀️

Reii - she was rumored by Allison to think she is ordinary. She’s used her powers before and she’s known it.

Here’s a theory: Since Ben is always annoyed at Klaus for “wasting his life with drugs” I think it has to do with his death. He always looked up to his dad and Luther, but they didn’t care. He grew to be depressed and tired with his life so he killed himself. Since he fell into this habit of drugs and being sad and miserable all the time, they took him out if the group because of it. That’s why we don’t see him in the family photos as a teenager. And the reason we don’t see how he died when he is with Klaus is because he consumed something that killed him intentionally.

I thought Klaus got Ben into drugs and therefore Ben wasn’t at his best during a mission and died. Ben might’ve turned to drugs because he was so stressed

With all the clues of him trying to impress his Dad and Luther, his powers being unstable, and his death being violent, my guess is his power to summon inter dimensional monsters through his skin went out of control and maybe killed him ripping him apart.

What about the paradox? Not only is Hargreeves not supposed to know that he will cause this but even if he does know, wouldn't not doing anything change his past, present and futur? Also, since that's not a thing the commision tolerates (Changing time) wouldn't the handler have send agents to force those events to happen anyway?

I think Klaus played the biggest part in Ben's death. That would explain his remorse and his comment about not doing enough for Ben in one of the later episodes (I forget that exact quote, but it struck me as a possibility that Klaus could have saved Ben). It would also explain why he can always see Ben no matter how wasted he is. And it seems that he only sees the dead of the people around him who are responsible for their deaths (all of the dead people Hazel and Cha-Cha killed, but not seeing them when he isn't around Hazel and Cha-Cha).

I’ve always felt it was suicide or the tentacles going rouge and killing him. I think it could have been the stress of everything that made him have suicidal thoughts so to kill himself he let the tentacles loose

In the show from what ben looks like (meaning his outfit) it looks like a casual outfit or something like that. My point being that it my not have been a mission (as the have mandatory outfits) that killed Ben be an experiment. Let me elaborate, in the show its said that Hardgreevs does experiments on the kids. My point being that what if Hardgreevs was pushing for Ben to do an experiment and Ben did not want to and Luther (being the goody-too-shoes that he is) helped pressure Ben into doing the experiment wich in turn went horribly wrong. Thus why Luther blames himself.

Luther is obviously holding back at all times, he has to or he'd break everything. The whole superman idea " I'm walking through a world made of glass, so i always have to be careful i dont break everything around me " Because based on a few scenes he's strong enough to kill someone instantly if he wanted... could be bad writing, but based on how far he sent Hazel flying physics says Hazel should probably be dead... i chalk that up comic book physics BUT super strength and durability arent the same thing... he's obviously not invulnerable.

Reginald actually numbered the kids in reverse order of the strength of their powers (in the comics). So Luther as "number one" actually has the weakest powers. It's a nice little twist on Luther's interpretation of what it means to be number one

I think Ben was probably pushed to hard by the whole family, and when it went to far, he took his life. It’s harsh I know, but if you look at his statue it says “may the darkness inside you find peace in the light” so maybe its like may all the bad thoughts in you find the light or something like that, I know it’s harsh and stuff but it just a theory.

ben and klaus hands down are my fav dynamic and i hope to see more of ben in the show! (next season)

For you all that think ben was in the attic. I need to say that your wrong. It was Helen in the attic vanya's "boyfriend" killed her to pet vanya have the first chair at the music show. So that answers your question that ben wasn't in the attic. (Besides if a human body after death stays to long at the same spot the body will stink and be rotten so it isnt Ben's or it would stink and be rotten)

oooohhh. I did think he had to do something with Helen leaving but I thought the body was Ben's. It did confuse me how the body was intact, but this explains it.

The person in the attic was not ben. it was the 1st chair vilin lady. Wrong asian

yooo i thought that was ben bcause the hair looked like it. I was wondering why no one talked about the body in the attic. Cause there was already a missing poster of the lady plus leonard/harold confessed to vanya. But i guess Leonard/Harold didnt really had a motive to kill ben right so it wouldnt make sense if it was ben in the attic...

Since octopus eat themselves when they’re stressed. Maybe Ben got really stressed on a mission, and ended up getting a little left behind during the mission. Like he was left alone for a little and the next thing they know he’s dead? And since Ben doesn’t have any outer injuries maybe it ate him from the inside?

Well (SPOILERS!) In a flash back when klaus sees ben dead he is a teenager showing that bens body ages whilst he is dead just as the adults do

Love the show, except for luther. Big guy with a small brain 🤦‍♀️ hated him more when he looked up Vanya Edited: wooow thank you guys for the likes.

Yea he was the one that pretty much set Vanya off when she was the most vulnerable, everyone else wanted to be there for her.

I somewhat 50% agree with you. His love for Allison was so great that it made him do things beyond his capabilities. Yeah, He acted Imature though, choking and locking up Vanya but many bad things had happen to him like staying in the moon for 4 years thinking He was on a very important mission but at the end it was useless. That's my opinion guys😊 Also if luther didn't do that to Vanya then there will be no season 2😂😂
