If you want an example of how this process works, check out my video on mynode (the second one) which shows how to link a wallet. It'll give you a pretty good idea for the time being.

@BTC Sessions Thank you for this video! I’m now using Umbrel and have a question. Were you able to connect your BlueWallet on your iPhone? With the new Umbrel update they give more detailed instructions on how to hook up a wallet, which is great. But beside the blue wallet connect, it says only for android. I am wondering if it is possible to hook it up to an iPhone blue wallet as well?

@@bretthenry6129 I have been talking to Umbrel support and they say that it is not possible to use an external wallet to deposit funds into the LN wallet. I have learned that there is no point in connecting an external wallet to Umbrel. We really have to use the Umbrel BTC wallet for LN fund transfers.

I am pretty clumsy with this kind of stuff, but nevertheless the tutorial was easy to follow and succeeded in my first attempt. The only thing extra I had to do was the connection of a fan included with the Arduino case I got. That was explained in its instructions manual. My Umbrel is already happily churning blocks.

I finally did it. Setup my own Bitcoin Node. Thank you, Ben, for inspiring me to try this.

Great video. Looks like umbrel has updated their website since recording. There is now a great step by step slider on how to download and get onto microSD card. 👍👍

Excellent tutorial. Best I found as it explains everything I need to get my Pi-node up and running and get the most from it. Last few parts due in today.

Very nice tutorial, thank you. Some details I do not get yet. While maintaining the whole blockchain in Pi4 , from what I understand, one can get access to his wallet via his personal home network. What I would like to be able to do would be to connect to the blockchain from Pi4 and transact from différents wallet addresses. Say, for example, I want to send 500 sat from wallet A to wallet B. Is that possible ?

Is umbrel running on the raspberry pi or on your main computer? Or is the raspberry pi never connected to a monitor

Just a heads up the UI on Umberl has changed so the bit where you connect to Umbrel now looks a bit different

Right now I believe a separate drive is required. I think it would also still save you money doing an SSD :)

What’s the difference between the lightning wallet and the bitcoin wallet?

Can't you just use an external SSD with just 500-600 gb? so you can save on the SATA III to USB converter. Also if you decide to not use the setup as a node anymore, can you use the SSD for other purposes again or has it been defragmented?

Umbrel went backwards for UI. Not sure how to find any URLs or how to connect to any wallets.

Help needed!! New to Lightning. I am not seeing a clear way to transfer bitcoin to my LND wallet on Umbrel. How is that done? I did send so my bitcoin wallet on the Umbrel but how to get it into the Lightning wallet on Umbrel?

I noticed Umbrel is in Beta. Any risk of accessing umbrel site from personal laptop? Or is the risk strictly limited to the btc held in umbrell node wallet.

I know new updates would have been released, please any recommendations as to where to get the raspberry pi and what version to go for. Sorry but what is the sd card for? Also you laptop has a card reader to get the software on the microsd card ?

The SD card runs the operating system, while the hard drive stores all the additional information (like the Bitcoin blockchain). I have a little hub that allows me to plug different things into my laptop.

Thx for showing me this Ben... Im not so interest about a lightning node but just a regular node interests me. Do you recommend a particular wallet? Perhaps you mention it in the video as I havent watched the whole thing yet... If so I'll come back and change my comment.

Personally I use Wasabi for desktop and Blue Wallet for mobile. Wasabi was super easy to connect here (just a quick copy/paste), while Blue Wallet took a bit of playing around and required me to download Orbot on my phone along with a few other steps. I suspect Blue will get easier over time. Next best option for mobile is likely Blockstream Green when it comes to connecting to Umbrel.
