Музыка
You are watching the official remastered HD video for ‘Vienna’ by Ultravox.
A timeless classic, ‘Vienna’ reached number 2 in the UK charts in January 1981, selling over half a million copies in the UK. The video was directed by Russel Mulcahy

Lyrics:
We walked in the cold air
Freezing breath on a window pane
Lying and waiting
A man in the dark in a picture frame
So mystic and soulful
A voice reaching out in a piercing cry
It stays with you until
The feeling has gone, only you and I
It means nothing to me
This means nothing to me
Oh, Vienna
The music is weaving
Haunting notes, pizzicato strings
The rhythm is calling
Alone in the night as the daylight brings
A cool empty silence
The warmth of your hand and a cold grey sky
It fades to the distance
The image has gone, only you and I
It means nothing to me
This means nothing to me
Oh, Vienna
This means nothing to me
This means nothing to me
Oh, Vienna

This bit of the song is so technical for 1981 I don't know if there were any commercial sequencers or MIDI were available, if they were it would have cost a fortune. I was only 10 when I heard this.... Sunday night top 20 , it was something special right off the bat, Passing Strangers has a section like this but more of an Arpeggio effect. Ultravox were way ahead of anyone else in the Uk for synths for 1981.

What wasn't a masterpiece is that stupid song Shaddap You Face, yet it would seem lots of idiotic people thought it was worthy of No.1 in the UK, relegating this song to No.2. Sh!t, even John Lennon got bumped by that stupid song by Joe Dolce.

This song as an instrumental would have been a tour de force. Add the astonishing chorus and we have a masterwork that has stood the test of time.

Such a spectacular intro of Vienna album. Monumental sound of epic proportion, soundtrack for new Europe, which was already created by Kraftwerk & Bowie.
Classic masterpiece, and I think the best part starts with a build up at 3:04 and ends after the violins 3:34 and final chorus. Amazing. To be honest, most times I open this video and just click to it. Thank you Ultravox!
