at 24:05 when the immortals piled into the intercessors, not all of them were able to move towards the intercessors. 1 or 2 were closer to the captain, making the captain the closest enemy model. If you choose to move a model during pile in, it must end it's move closer to the nearest enemy model. Great battle report folks.

The Canoptek Wraiths cannot actually ignore vertical distance, in the movement phase they can move horizontally through solid objects but for their first movement they would have had measure the move down the crates and up the building. And for the charge phase they would also need to measure the distance up the building. And even if they had fly which ignores vertical in the movement phase they need to count vertical in the charge phase. The clarification on this is from the most recent faq and errata. Also for reanimation you cannot roll for models that fled due to moral, so for that last turn you could only roll 5 dice on the immortals. Very nice presentation on the batrep though, looking forward to the next!

Can I just say, your videos have single-handedly pushed my interest in 40k, both playing, and painting, from a passing interest in the lore alone, to buying my first set of brushes, getting Blackstone Fortress with a friend (following your speedpainting series religiously, haha) and also seriously considering slowly starting a small army. Thank you for being so informative, and mainly for allowing ease of access. The biggest obstacle I had ever had with getting interested was the notion of "if you don't already know, you never will". I would constantly be snubbed by members of the community for not knowing anything whenever I expressed interest. I had no idea what any of the terminology meant, and had no clue what to do with the meagre amount of info I had. Thank you for introducing me to what this community has to offer, and for stoking the fires of passion in me. Love ya, dude. #nohomo #allthehomo

I've been in the hobby since I was 9(!), but I can still remember the pain of learning everything from scratch. Just take it step by step, find a couple of people who are new, or new-ish to the hobby as well, and try to learn together. It honestly doesn't matter if you don't play the rules exactly as written, just have fun! It's so, so much easier to start off with just 1 squad vs 1 squad, and building from there. Good luck my dude! #homosapien

When the hellblaster supercharged his plasma weapon, those 2's would cause him to explode because he's getting -1 to hit rolls from falling back. Unless, of course, that plasma gun is worded differently than the ones I'm familiar with. Also, while Ultramarines can shoot after falling back, they cannot charge. I really enjoyed the format of this batrep. I appreciate the description of what happened and why you chose to do it. I have heard that round-edged, pipped dice tend to roll 1's more frequently than is statistically average. While it's not a huge deal since you both seemed to be using them, it might end up skewing battles towards "less action." The dice roll shots are brilliant, and I love the background music. The effort you all put into this is palpable, and I really enjoyed it. I'm looking towards more in the future!

Sorry to “necro” an old thread but yes; round edged piped dice do statistically roll 1’s more often. It is very very slight, I believe only like a 2-3% difference. That is the reason dice in casinos are square edged and painted on numbers and are only used for a set number of throws before they are destroyed/sold/given away. *Edit* I re-educated myself after writing this as it had been a few years since I read that article about the rounded edged dice. Apparently out of 144k test rolls, rolling a 1 had a 29% chance of showing. A normal D6 should have a 16.6% chance of any side. So, rolling a 1 is actually very likely to happen.

oh those poor Inceptors! they were just dying for the buffs of the new Codex... Honestly, as much as this felt one sided, I think with denser terrain and a few different missions, 500pts could be a really viable game size. this being a batrep with work done in post-production means I already really enjoy it. the willingness not to show every moment, and to talk about the game after it's done, makes these things better. I think a dedicated camera on a dice tray might make the rolling a little smoother? but that could also be more work in the editing. at least, I think a dice tray is nice to have, because you knock less things over. but, I'm clumsy... anyways, Courage and Honor, those xenos will get their's!
