This movie was perfectly released near Fathers Day, and designed around Fatherhood. The main character arcs are around the problems and rekindling the relationship of Ken and his father, but also around Kens relationship with baby kaiju he temporarily adopts, where he learns lessons on what it's like Being a father.

I feel for the kid cause my dad spent alot of time at work, he worked on a cow farm at the time, and i barely saw him, I would ask my mom if i could stay with him at work as often as i could, i do resent him cause he always told me that "i was trying to provide for you and your siblings" as a teenager after we moved down to Texas where he got to spend a lot more time with us, like i understand he had to provide for us but whats the point of providing for your family if they never get to see you, you end up being nothing to them, just "provider" not even dad or mom just provider, i got a good relationship with my dad but i still hate when he tells me "i was trying to provide" cause as a kid i didn't want anything money could buy more then I wanted to play catch with a football with him

That's a pretty immature viewpoint. How are you planning to pay the house bills? Electric bills? Grocery?.. if he's breadwinner of the family, of course he's gonna have to haul his ass to work everyday, ofcourse he have to struggle everyday so his family can live comfortably. Unless, he's working a high paying job that that can afford him some free time to spend with the family, then that's a problem if he's still a workaholic. Otherwise, I can't understand your viewpoint. It seems to me like you're thinking more from your point of view as a kid without taking into account his side.

This was such a good movie. It took itself waaayy more seriously than i expected, which is good! And while the kid does learn compassion and empathy for others by the end, they never outright say that his argument and position at the beginning of the film was invalid, just that it didn't justify how he acted as a result. Which is a super mature take on a complicated subject. Watch it if you haven't, its fun!

I won’t lie with only seeing this scene I will lean on the sons side, he has every right to hate his father, the son wanted a happy family and was only doing it because the one person he cared about being his mother begged him, and in truth I’m sure during that moment the son understood the moment he did that he would sacrifice everything losing his simple life, just to fix his dads mistakes and now, the dad come yelling at his son more worried about some monsters creature then checking on his sons welling.

The kaiju are also very dangerous despite sometimes being non hostile. None of them understand how strong they are compared to humanity, and brawl with eachother anywhere, killing thousands in each fight. If they existed in reality we would do the exact same thing, try to kill it before it destroys the country. Imagine your family getting killed by godzilla..would you feel no ways about the titan monsters?
