Isnt this from Batman Beyond when Waller is telling Terry about how hes just a clone of Bruce. Just because he was cloned to be a new Batman doesnt mean he was meant to be a monster or to scare everyone, she was trying to say that even Batman had a soul.

To be fair I can immagine the punisher comforting a small child but I love this sentence

I hate when people are shocked by Batman’s compassion. It shows you how many dark and edgy Batman stories have been made recently that people forget that this is a man who has taken in, raised, and been a father to multiple orphans. Batman is someone who understand loneliness, despair, and compassion intrinsically because if he didn’t, he’d be owlman.

They where not able to make a final episode for batman beyond. For the justice league unlimited final episode they repurposed what they had planed for batman beyond ending. This clip is part of what is being told to Terry maginnis by amanda Waller to convince Terry to stay as batman. Because she believes that the world needs a batman to keep everyone in check. This clip specifically was to show how caring and understanding batman really is. Great episode recomind looking it up.

Some say being a soldier is the hardest job out there. Others say it's a firefighter... From my experience, it's being a nurse in a childrens hospital. Nothing hurts worse than seeing a child in pain. Knowing their chance of making it to the next day is slim.

That’s why Batman is one of the most loved characters. He was a human being at the end of the day.

He knew Ace was still a kid, and that kid was on the brink of irreversible death. He made sure she died peacefully.

Enough to make a man cry.... He seems like he's cold hearted, but he understands...

I remember I was a little kid and this episode was playing on late night Cartoon Network right before it turned into adult swim. I haven’t thought about that memory in so many years. I have no idea why I even remember it, but I remember being sad watching and I replayed it a couple times before going to bed for some reason. Edit: 2.6k likes and salutes is crazy. But apparently ppl have never heard of a rewind button on a remote, i rewatched that scene on the swing set, not the whole episode.

DC heroes show the most compassion to their villains

The more one suffers, the more understanding and appreciation for life they have. Great depiction of two tortured souls.

This is the side of Batman that makes a true hero, the compassionate and caring person who sympathizes and understands others, even the villains. Ace is by no means evil, she was a tool used by Cadmus and then the Joker for their schemes, as she said, she was robbed of her childhood. A girl of truly incredible potential had her life and future stolen away. Batman's no kill rule seems ridiculous at times, but it's scenes like this where it makes perfect sense. Alot of villains just need help and someone to give a damn about them. Some villains will turn away from their path and live in peace or even join the good guys. Even someone like Grundy ended up helping out against that monstrous entity and made friends with Hawkgirl.

The writers of Under the Red Hood and Injustice didn't truly understand Batman's character. He doesn't refrain from lethal force because of trauma or that he wouldn't be able to stop killing. It's because he genuinely believes that there's good in everyone.

this reminds me of the killing joke. joker almost reassured batman that there wasn't any turning back for him. he couldn't be fixed, it's far too late for that. it was only then, when he knew there was nothing he could do, that batman just, just laughed with him. a hearty laugh. a true, genuine laugh, as he ended joker's suffering, and brought true closure to everyone joker had ever hurt. batman's no killing rule can't always work. it's a harsh realization to come to. you just can't save everyone.

THIS is part of who Batman is, hes not just an angry rich kid with issues. He's also compassionate when he needs to be, and I think Hollywood has forgotten about that.

This is one of the saddest scenes if all the DC cartoons 😢😢😢

Bro this is why I love Batman, even with his flaws he still is an almost perfect hero who’s trying to saving the Good and even Bad people. Despite the issue about saving the Joker, even if joker is going too far he still tries his best to save him👍🏾

What’s also amazing about this is the fact that Batman has the ability to fortify his mind against mind readers if I remember correctly. To provide a sense of comfort, he let her read his mind. Really nice touch to his character, and it’s really heartwarming

Yes, villains are made. They are made from all the broken pieces of themselves, and each piece was put back in place incorrectly because they don't know how the pieces were arranged before it was broken by others. Sometimes, it takes someone who was once broken and managed to piece themselves enough to be partially whole again. That is who Batman once was and is.

This is what Batman is, not some asshole who beats the living shit out of every villain (though he still does that lol), but someone who is broken and only wants to help others, no matter who they are (though there are exceptions)

This will always be the saddest and most heart felt episode in all of the series. Kevin Conroy - The voice of Batman, who made this character someone could believe, was more than human, he was the best of us. RIP - Kevin. You were Batman.

As a dad with daughters this hits harder now, every kid deserves to be approached with compassion and patience

Batman isn’t as cold as we think he is he is actually really caring and I really love this scene

This is one of the big reasons that I like Batman why he’s one of my favorite superheroes because he’s just human. He doesn’t need superpowers. He doesn’t even really need the costume the money the gadgets he’s just human and it shows that anyone anyone at all could be a hero, and show great amounts of passion and consideration

I disagree about the material assets Batman has. He needs it. Let's not forget he is waging an unending war against crime. Wealth if used properly can make an impact on the world. A man with absolutely nothing, despite having noble intentions can't do much of anything.

The only time waller's voice showed concern and compassion when she said that batman stayed with ace until her time came, it shows that even the death of a kid even though she is the cause of it she is still affected by a kids death

A hero in all respects. There is a difference in someone who does what is what needed, and those who follow orders.

They show that Batman has a great capacity for compassion and empathy. This was an episode that earns Batman more respect than any other.

punisher does save and comfort kids in multiple comic books {punisher war journal #39, punisher max #3} (obviously not as compassionate as batman but not devoid of emotion)

Something we don't get enough of from Batman now a days. We still get a few here and there and honestly they are incredible. I just personally would like to see it more often.

Despite his scary appearance and attitude towards most people, deep down he truly cares for his friends and even his enemies and hopes that his foes will change.

Batman the animated series is one of the best superhero shows, prove me wrong

Wow. The voice acting really expresses the wealth of emotion here. I've never seen this but it has already quickly became one of my favorite interactions of B mans.

Batman does his best to fix a broken society. The greatest cracks are formed in youth, and he knows that. Yes, he's a rich upper class kid, but that meant he was the only one with the respurces and the will to cause any change. Batman is certainly cracked, but he is not broken.

Never forget the true essence of Conroy's Batman

This is the reason I like Batman, beyond all the issues people and I may have with some aspects of his character, he is just a man who understands what it means to be in pain and wants to help others so that they dont go down the same path as him.

I cry every time 😢 do you know how hard it is to watch a child die and nothing you can do to stop it. Bat your my hero for life. That hit the soul.

Batmans always been tough but super sweet with children. Deep down he never let go of his inner child

Batman has never been emotionless. Bruce just learned that emotions suppress your judgement. However in times of great sorrow such as this, he shows his compassionate side.

This was legit, the saddest moment in the entire show, still makes me cry😢

Ace is one of the best characters ever made, so honest and relatable.

Thats what makes him the greatest hero of all time. I remember watching this episode the first time it aired when i was a teenager, when he sits on that swing and held his hand out it broke my heart for real

Batman was always compassionate that’s why he never killed anyone

I love how this Batman is more down to earth showing him as just a normal person instead of a man against gods

That's the thing though, this Batman was explicitly the same one we grew up with on the weekends. The old Batman cartoon, Batman and Superman, Batman Beyond and both Justice League runs. He's still the same Batman that outsmarted Braniac and punched out Darksied, but scared and abused children like Ace are The Reason he's the Batman in the first place.

This scene always makes me tear up bruh. This is 10000/10 writing

this is why i keep saying, the stories, the older stories that had the best writing mean everything. it can show us real humanity when we start to forget what real humanity is.

she had one the saddest childhoods amongst all characters in the DC universe and Batman is a true Hero for staying with her until the end

"Every child needs a father, but not every father deserves a child"

This is the batman most people never notice.

Kevin Conroy, the man, the myth, the legend. R.I.P.

As someone who had their childhood and teen years stolen, I can relate heavily to her. Sometimes all you want is for everything to burn, so maybe they could feel some of the pain, anguish and despair in our hearts. Others all we want is for someone to just be there, no need for words.

That's why Batman's the GOAT. He knows what it's like to be human more than any superhuman or alien can comprehend.

This is what makes Batman great, he understands pain and doesn’t want anyone else to feel as he does.

My dad, brother and watched this entire series together. I remember getting to the end of this episode and holding back the tears. My dad noticed, and said "sometimes it's better for us to let those emotions out, especially around family." I still can't hold them back when I watch this episode or think of how he raised us.

I will never forget this episode…this took me to tears a lil and not afraid of saying that

Batman has faced everything a normal person couldn’t but still believes in humans when most of the time they don’t deserve it but tries to help save everyone for the mission. That’s the best Batman

JLA and 90s-00s era DC animation had so many beautiful gems that just stuck with us forever
